This beautiful wooded oasis is just up the hill from Fitchburg State University. The home is lovely, with three upstairs rooms available for guests. With our family along, we spent time in two of the rooms. The Harvard is spacious and has a great shower with streams from two sides. What a luxurious experience! The Hudson is also roomy with a serene view of the pool and the back woods (and chicken coop!). It has a jetted tub, so very relaxing, and a shower too. The beds are huge and comfortable, with what must be a pillow-top on the tall firm mattress. These might be the most comfortable rooms we've ever stayed in at a B&B! Breakfast is freshly made with several delicious options from a menu where you make you selections the night before. The eggs are fresh from their own chickens! The hosts Sarah and Ryan served us in a well-lit "Florida Room" with a view of the flower-garden. And we saw a hummingbird flitting among pink and lavender flowers! On the first floor, in addition to the breakfast room, there's a kitchenette with complimentary beer and soft drinks and snack bars, single-serve coffees, and tea bags with a hot and cold water dispenser, (and both milk and cream, thx!). There is a large comfortable sitting room, where we spent part of a pleasant evening with the friendly owners, swapping travel stories. And from there is an enclosed brick pathway to a rec room with a nice billiard table. To the left is the clean outdoor pool, or ahead is the open covered lighted porch with a ceiling fan, which has a step down to the pool. We took a few laps, then walked down and around to the patio with a fire-pit and a large jacuzzi. On an overcast September day, the pool was cool but not chilly, and the jacuzzi was warm with easy-to-adjust powerful jets. The chicken coop is hidden downhill a bit further, and there's no resident rooster so you might hear some cheerful clucking but no raucous crowing. It's just 1.5h by MBTA train from North Station in Boston to this tranquil hideaway. The hosts are charming and hard-working, always making improvements, always ready with friendly conversation. The price is of course a bit more than some local hotels, but not at all expensive, and our envious hotel-staying relatives all came by for a relaxing evening of wine on the porch.

Staff stood right outside our door and conversed loudly for 20+ minutes as we rushed to get out of the room-- which we PAID for until 2pm!!!! Never made mention of the gangs of boys (10+ kids at a time) in soccer uniforms running at full speed & screaming through the halls unsupervised for at least an hour+. Would probably have been a better use of staffs' time to take care of that situation. Do not recommend!

A true, traditional, historic B and B can't be beat, and that is what Timber Post is! She dealt with my questions very helpfully over the phone before arriving, and then the moment I arrived. Vivian has every little beautiful or welcoming detail covered, and the place is immaculately clean. There are intriguing antiques and pictures everywhere to add to the ambiance. The breakfast is sumptuous, but despite all that work, she was kind enough to make me something I preferred. I stayed two nights, at the start and end of my road trip, in two different parts of her lodgings. Both were lovely. It's quiet, for a light sleeper like me, and also important for a woman traveling alone, I felt safe. Vivian even has done the genealogy on the Inn from its early years, and discovered she's descended from the some of the original owners! She said how the community there has been so kind to her. Now that's real sense of place. I highly recommend Timber Post for a true New England Bed and Breakfast experience, in rural Hollis. A delight.

Entirely misadvertised and the woman who runs it is defensive of these small things, making it even…read moreworse. - advertised as having a private bathroom and it does not - breakfast listed as 7:30-9:30am in the booklet that is in the room but it is not, it is at exactly 8am only which we were never notified about - the noise is terrible - I was woken up to people talking downstairs that sounded like they were in our room, and that continued until we left - woman running it just got defensive when trying to address the bathroom and breakfast, just saying "but we've had a lot of people stay without any complaint" - for every person who says something, though, there are a hundred who don't say anything. - we had to "prove" to her that the listing was wrong bc she just tried to say that she didn't realize and blamed it on booking.com, though it is not the fault of booking.com, it is the fault of the business and it is illegal to do this kind of bait and switch - she offered a 10% refund while asking "are you going to write a bad review either way?" - well, I wasn't planning on it, but the fact that she tried to bribe us to not write a review means I sure as heck am now - on top of all of this, the bathroom was out of toilet paper with no more rolls available I suggest avoiding this place unless you want to have no idea what you show up to regardless of what you booked, then want to deal with a defensive woman who won't internalize or listen to the issues. Note: I deleted and reposted this, bc her response illegally posted some personally identifiable information. The response also showed the inability to internalize feedback, and misguided perspective on that feedback.
