Went to Ho's Kitchen today. Got a plate lunch with pork stuffed eggplant and egg fu Yung. I swear the texture of the egg fu Yung is strange. Doesn't seem like real eggs were used. Don't know if they are using egg substitute. The pork stuffed eggplant is not the same as usual. The taste is different. The fried rice is always bland. Very disappointing. I don't think I'll ever go back there again. Service was ok. One of the workers was on her phone behind the counter. The lady who helped me was fine. read more

Their lemon chicken is the bomb diggity! Def bringing me back to my childhood days. There's a couple tables in the inside that you can dine in, but more tables on the outside. I used to spend my Saturday's getting a plate lunch from here. You can do half and half with their rice and yummy noodles, but again their lemon chicken is just so crispy and tender at the same time! The skin is the best part. They also hand you a small lemon sauce to dip it in, which is the perfect amount of lemon flavor. I've tried other lemon chickens before and the sauce always overpowers. But what they're doing here in Ho's definitely surpasses most. I also got the pork stuffed eggplants. Another thing to try if you're doing a 2+ choice is their beef and broccoli. This was the worst Chinese food we have ever eaten. The people were very nice though. The egg roles were like a fortune cookie with cabbage goo inside. The noodles were half crunchy (probably sitting out all day). The shrimp fried rice taste like salt water from the ocean. The table where we ate had mustard in a jar and had brown crust all over it. We will never forget this place. A good story to tell my grandkids one day. Anyone who likes this place, I would love to take you to a good Chinese takeout place in VA. I'm pretty sure this is the worst food I have eaten in a very long time. I was super hungry so ate more of it than I should have. But I regretted it immediately. It was unappetizing to look at and when I think back to the goopy, thick sauce on my vegetables, the unidentifiable chunks (I fear meat) I get a little sick. I recognize that many people like this place, most positive reviews I've read are from meat-eaters...but other vegetarians in my group that got the same thing expressed similar feelings to mine. Perhaps it was an off day? I don't know. The only positive thing I can say is that their portions are super generous. Every Time I'm back on Kauai this place is a must visit. I grew up eating here and their lemon chicken is by far the best I've tasted ever. Service is always friendly, and there is a large selection buffet line for quick to go plate lunches or a dine in menu. Ho's seems pretty much on par for being in a food court-type area, but I've definitely had better. The food my family and I ordered had a bit too much MSG in it as well. Its always nice to find a place that doesn't need to use MSG for flavor, but I don't think this is one of them. I might have high expectations growing up near San Francisco where Chinese restaurants are abundant and varied. Ho's is probably fine if you're used to it, or live nearby because there doesn't seem to be too many options for Chinese food on Kauai. For as long as my husband and I have been together (since 2008), Ho's has always been a must whenever we go back to Kauai. It's one of my in-law's favorites and we always take-out food from here. Our favorite is the char-siu chow fun, lemon chicken, pork stuffed eggplant, and beef tomato. We have yet to find another Chinese place that makes their chow fun like Ho's. read more

Really good authentic chinese food. Not a ton of selection but they cook and get food out fast. The food wasn't for me but my husband loved it. He had the shrimp chow mien and then my lemon chicken.
