I ate some of the best Thai food at Anatta's Thai food truck in Lihue, Kauai (the Ace Hardware Store location). Their location at the end of the parking lot has a few plastic picnic tables, plenty of parking, and lots of locals (human and feathered) enjoying the food. The menu has something for everyone, and you can customize with your choice of proteins, veggies, or tofu. I chose the pad see ew with veggies for $15.95, a very generous portion loaded with beautiful fresh vegetables. The red curry with beef for $16.95 was beautifully aromatic with tender slices of beef and plenty of bamboo shoots and cabbage. A chicken thigh skewer for $4.75 was succulent, perfectly seared and a must! Three tender skewers of chicken satay for $7.95 with the best Thai peanut sauce I've ever tasted. I got 2 veggie summer rolls for the plane ride back to the mainland, which were the perfect red eye food packed with fresh veggies and with a sweet chili sauce side. Any return trips to Kauai will definitely include a stop at Anatta's :) read more

I would usually give Thai Street Food 5 plus stars! My go-to is always the tofu Pad Tha: it's normally delicious, worth the price, and beyond! Unfortunately, over the past 2-3 months, the tofu just hasn't tasted the same. It seems less seasoned or marinated and comes across oily instead of blending into the dish like it used to. I really hope they bring the old tofu preparation back! For now, I'm settling at 4 stars: which is still very competitive with most restaurants on Kauai. read more

When she gave me my food no utensils no bag, the plastic container they give you is super Duper hot so bring your own bag or bring gloves or something. I called in the order the lady not so friendly taking my order, if you call in an order and you're about to say goodbye. Don't feel offended if they just hang up because I think it's always been like this. On their website, it says they have the most friendly customer service and they also have the best food on the planet .. both couldn't be more wrong. These folks are very nice and the food is tasty enough although it could all use a tad more intensity. We had spring rolls, shrimp pad Thai and grilled chicken thigh sticks. The spring rolls were boiling hot, very crisp with a fresh vegetable filling. The best was the grilled chicken thighs. Very well trimmed and nicely charred with a slightly salty teriyaki sauce. They were tender and on rice would be great. The pad thai was too sweet, lacked depth of flavor and wasn't even warm. This location was not as good as the Koloa location. We were ono for some Thai food and thankfully, Thai street food was close by and open. We ordered a bunch of plates to share family style. Pad see ew, pad Thai, red curry, green curry, chicken skewers, and spring rolls. My favorite was the red curry with pad see ew. The red curry was nice and spicy with lots of flavor. I just wish the portion of the curry was bigger. The pad see ew also was surprising and had tons of flavor. The pad Thai was a bit sweet and more wet than I am used to. The papaya salad we ordered with the curry plate was interesting. Not as papaya tasting or tangy as I would have hoped. There wasn't a strong fishy taste to it which is good if you aren't into that. The BBQ chicken skewers had a lot of sauce on them. Like another review mentioned it was cooked and then sauced. All the flavor on top but not much in the chicken. I would go bad for the pad see ew and would have just a portion of red curry without rice. This place was horrible. Walked up to the truck. The worker acted like she didn't want to take our order. I asked her for extra spicy for my papaya salad. Literally was the most bland salad ever. My chicken skewer was under cooked. Pan fried noodle was gross. Overall we spent $80 on trash food and horrible service. I called for a pickup order and they were quick to answer. Customer service is really great here. No complaints about that, at all. The gentleman was friendly, greeted with a smile, and was helpful. The 3-star review is purely reflective on the food I ordered. I got the pad Thai with chicken and pad see ew with veggies. The portion size is large. I was starving after arriving on Kauai, passed by this food truck on my way back to the airport to pick up my friend and decided to do this instead of fast food. Located in a parking lot, they seem to have a rather permanent presence with the inclusion of a tent offering shade for about three tables. Be prepared to share the space with Kauai's ubiquitous mascot (see photo of chicken on table ... not the bbq skewers, but our new feathered friend). My friend and I split a shrimp pad thai and two bbq skewers ... that and a couple of Doet Cokes totaled about $31, about what you'd spend in Honolulu. We were starving so it was pretty good. The pad thai was on the sweet side and the shrimp were plump and juicy - wish there was more of it, but I get that everything's pricey these days. We came here on a weekday and the wait was very reasonable, around 10-15 minutes. We ordered the pad Thai, egg rolls, and a bbq chicken skewer. The pad Thai with tofu was standard, though I think the pad Thai could have used a little more of the sour kick that I'm used to. I was kind of disappointed with the egg rolls, which didn't have the standard southeast Asian flavors and was more like a bland egg roll you can find in a Chinese restaurant. They have most of your traditional thai items on the menu (pad thai, red/green/yellow curry, papaya salad, spring/summer rolls, combo plates). Soda, water or coconut water for drinks. My friend and I stopped by the food truck for a quick meal on our way to the airport. This was the perfect place for a pre-airport meal because the portions were huge. I ordered the Pad Thai (Chicken), which was flavorful and very filling. My friend got the Red Curry Combo (Chicken), which came with papaya salad and rice. The curry had the perfect consistency and included plenty of protein. When we stopped by here, it was pouring like crazy. We finally tried Anatta's Thai Street Food.... For the last 4 years, we've driven by to see the steady amount of customers at this Thai food truck in the parking lot of Ace Hardware in Lihue. We also had friends tell us that it was good so we should have listened to them. My lady & I shared a chicken pad thai ($13.85) and 2 bbq chicken sticks ($4.25) each.... The pad thai was good. It had nice flavor and the chicken wasnt dry. Noodles were good, peanuts, bean sprouts and some lime for added flavor. I just felt for the price, which wasnt crazy expensive but not cheap either that there should have been a bigger serving. The bbq chicken sticks were good. Good char and great flavor. Chicken was moist and flavorful. But at $4.25 a stick and not a full stick at that, it's on the pricy side. This is 2022 pricing, I guess. Staff was super nice. When we got there and ordered, the gentleman at the window said they just took a big order (i saw all the tables taken) and that it was gonna be about 25-30 mins before our order was ready. We went inside Ace Hardware to get some essentials for the house in that time. By the time we came back, it was maybe only a few minutes until my name was called and our order was ready. Dinner was delicious. We could not have been happier. On our arrival, there were several other orders before us and so knowing that the wait could only mean that our food would be fresh and hot was a treat. We found this one as we were driving back from the train tour and wanted a small snack. We tried the BBQ Chicken stick which was flavorful. There are several Anatta's Thai food trucks on the island. One in Kapaa and Poipu. There #1 recommendation is there BBQ Chicken Stick. Order that with everything else on the menu. It will raise your experience to another level. I always order Veggie Fried Rice and the Summer Rolls, 4.5stars. Go with Yellow Curry at 4stars and keep going from there! Try it all and bring the family. Call your order in for the easiest experience, but they are such nice people you'll appreciate the 5star friendly window service. We were driving to Princeville affter landing at Lihue airport and stopped here at a whim. They had already closed or taken the last order on Xmas night. My daughter asked them casully thro the window and they accepted our order. The only bummer was that the Yellow Curry drained into the rice during transport.
