So when I was in Kaua'i recently, I finally decided to give Aloha Ramen inside Kukui Grove Center's food court a try, and the food certainly did not disappoint at all! I ordered the vegetarian ramen and when I took a bite, I could taste the MSG. This wasn't good. We tried the black garlic ramen and it was easily our worst ramen experience ever. The noodles were compatible to the 25 cent packets and they used a black garlic POWDER to season the broth. It didn't dissolve and just floated around the soup and gave it a gritty very unpleasant and unwanted texture. I don't know what they did with their eggs but they had an off taste as well and were essentially hard boiled. The portions were generous but we wanted nothing more than a few bites of this. I've been here twice so far. Both times the food was very tasty. Prices are reasonable. Seating inside contains maybe half a dozen tables or so. The condiment tray could be maintenanced more often. The ramen is really good! We got the shoyu ramen and it was really tasty and had good presentation. It came out pretty fast, but then again it wasn't really that busy. I would definitely recommend this place if you want some ramen or Japanese food because they have a bunch of other food besides ramen. You can take it out into the food court where it will be nice and cool. The egg and pork were delicious and the ramen had a nice chew as well. This was the worst bowl of ramen I've ever had. The broth was super watery and it had a strange fishy taste. It was supposed to be pork based but I couldn't tell at all.
