The food was horrible! I ordered the mushroom and chicken w/other vegetables. I ordered small ala carte. The zucchini was rotten and bitter. It was also a very small portion for $12.99. I guess it didn't matter because I dumped the whole thing after taking a bite. The crispy gau gee Mein with cake noodles was bad as well. Looked like they refried the gau gee multiple times. This is our go to place to pick up dinner when we don't feel like cooking. It's nothing fancy, good price and portions. Service is quick, not friendly, but not rude either. This isn't the type of place where you talk story with the workers, you are just in and out. Every time we place an order over the phone they say it'll be ready in 10min. There are several No 1 Chinese on the island so make sure you call the right location when you place an order. You can also walk in and order off the line as well. Ordered food. Was hot. Seemed fresh. Brought it home, opened it up and found out they messed up 1 dish out of my order. I call them, they ask to bring back the dish for an "exchange". At first I thought, exchange? What would they do with the old food? Inconvenience that I have to drive back, but ok. Drive back with the dish and they gave me the corrected dish in exchange. Went back home to eat my wonton mein. Ate my food and towards the bottom I found a maggot. I call back and they asked me to go back for a refund for the wonton mein with the maggot. At this point, I told them no one in my family wanted to eat their food anymore because they're grossed out with potential maggots in their food. She thought about it and said ok bring back all of the food and they'll refund it. I drive back yet again with our entire order (everyone's half eaten food). Instead of refunding the money she calls someone on the phone. After patiently waiting a while she comes back to tell me she won't refund the order because the food is half eaten and that she could only refund 1 dish. We are very familiar with Number 1 BBQ in Lihue. Normally, we order take out and ahead by a phone call. The one lady who is at the register is the most friendliest and courteous to when it comes to ordering our food. Hoping that in the future, they have more options out until past 9pm. read more

Stopped by for a quick Chinese takeout after spending a day in Kokee and we were pleasantly surprised by the quantity and the quality of food. Our plate included the best steam table fish dish (with veggies in black bean sauce) we've had anywhere! We also enjoyed the roast pork with fresh string beans and the noodles. Our first day and first time in Kauai, My husband and I was recommended this place from our rental car agent at Alamo since we needed something quick and easy after our flight because we had an ATV Adventure scheduled right after our flight. We were in such a hurry, that we forgot to look at yelp reviews and didn't pay much attention to the inside of the location before even eating. We just ran in, grabbed some food. We shared a plate since we didnt want to over eat. Sat down ate super quick and left. We made it to our ATV on time and was fine the rest of the day. Next day my husband woke up with the Chills, body ache, severe diarrhea and later developed a fever. Later that night, he was so bad I had to take him to the ER. They tested for the flu and other things but negative and determined it was food poisoning. The day after that, I became ill as well with the same thing. That was the only thing we had shared for both of us to become ill and thinking back to the place, it is very run down, dirty, bathroom was moldy, nothing modern or upkept. I only ate a few bites of the BBQ pork because it was dry and seemed weird but my hubby still ate it. The rest if the food was blah. Yes. We should have looked at the reviews and paid more attention to the cleanliness and upkeep of the restaurant. But unfortunately things happened, and it ruined the rest of our 4 day vacation in Kauai, had to cancel excursions, and stay in hotel room the whole time, cost us $400+ hospital bill. When you look at the food in the warmers it doesn't really look that great. However, give it a try and it will surprise you. I had Orange Chicken and Lo Mein. Don't go here for a healthy meal, but rather for a super-quick on-the-go gotta-eat styrofoam container of Chinese grub. The woman serving the food was amazing at multitasking - she answered my questions and got my food while talking on the phone and simultaneously yelling something in Chinese to the people in the kitchen.
