The food sucked so bad that I had to recheck other reviews to see if they were fake. First, the una-q roll looked so meager and pathetic that I had to wonder if they were scraping the bottom of the barrel for rice to put it together. Next, I had the ton katsu -- a scoop of rice, some overly salted steamed veggies, and some breaded pork. The pork was dry and flavorless, and it came with a side of A1 sauce. In all seriousness, I would rather have ordered chicken nuggets from a fast food joint -- even if it cost the same! The side salad was basically a chunk of iceberg lettuce. Thankfully, the miso soup was actually decent. Finally, my wife ordered the katsu don so that we could compare it against the ton katsu. Her dish was basically the same except it had less meat, didn't come with "salad" (aka a chunk of iceberg lettuce), included egg, and all the pieces were mixed together with soy sauce... and was $4 cheaper. Hers was a better value in my opinion, but even though she was hungry, she was also disappointed enough that she ate less than half her meal. read more

Decent sushi! Went on a weekday and didn't have to wait at all, service was quick. We were the only people there but still had a good time. Got soooo many rolls and were very satisfied at the end. My parents got some wine and enjoyed that as well. Would return! read more

This is a small place run by a Japanese family. It was a long time coming, but now that it's open I'm very happy. I had chirashi and uni. The presentation was very traditional, with generous sized sashimi pieces. The uni (on a Friday night) was very fresh. They weren't very busy, and service was quick and efficient with pre-emptive refills on tea. Great restaurant! read more

Very fresh, nice crunch/texture (not mushy like some places), ratios of rice to fish was correct and the prices are good. Service is prompt and gracious, and the place is clean. Not much of an ambiance or vibe, the music is a bit annoying, but if you're going for just plain ole good sushi, this is the spot. 5th star would've been a well executed "vibe": better ambiance, music, dimmer lights, you get my drift. Things to consider: many of the rolls are tempura this, tempura that, crunch this and crunch that. If that's your thing, cool. If not, choose carefully. Have followed this restaurant since it opened and recently very disappointed where it's headed. No soup served w meals, tiny portion of rice served with bento box, and size of sushi is so small. I understand costs are rising but really? Rice portion in a bento box is about 2-3 tablespoons. I just paid $117 for dinner for 4 and there isn't hardly any food. I've told so many about this place because it has always been a favorite, but I'm finding a new sushi place. So disappointed. read more

Wow. I've been to this place a few times with family that live in the area, it was just a few of us this time. We ordered 5-7 rolls and sashimi and it was all amazing. I live in the city and this place blows a vast majority of them out of the water. Fish is fresh and delicious, while the specialty rolls are amazing combinations of tasty flavors. I am so happy I found this little gem! It's tucked away in plain site in a small plaza on Rt 59. Don't be fooled by the dark exterior, It's comfortable and bright on the inside. Very clean as well. The sushi rolls were amazing! We had the Godzilla, Tequila, Fuji, and Tiger rolls. The Godzilla was one of the best I've had and Tequila roll was something different, and delicious! It's non-alcoholic, but has a hint of lime that elevated the taste, a must try! We also had the YAKI SOBA--Pan fried thin noodles with vegetables, served with miso soup. Also tried the Route 59 special and a tuna roll (forgot the name but had cucumber, shrimp, and jalapeños inside with a sauced seared tuna on top. Highly recommend). But the main attraction is of course, the sushi. I've tried sushi places in a 30 mile radius from where I live, and once you try many places you can really tell the quality of fish! It's hard to find good quality sushi in the suburbs. everything about our experience at Hoshi Sushi was amazing. The staff was exceptionally professional, welcoming, and friendly. There was a great variety of different types of sushi, rolls, and specialty items - even an all vegetarian option. The quality of the fish was wonderful, and it came in a timely manner. Everything we ate was delicious: Crunchy Mexican roll, Chef's special roll (off menu which we stumbled across while having a conversation with the staff), Tequila Roll, and basic salmon roll. We will definitely be recommending Hoshi Sushi to all of our friends and family in the area. The combination of great service along with fantastic food is hard to find nowadays, but Hoshi Sushi is definitely the exception. We've been looking for sushi this good since we moved here from the city. We're so excited it's walking distance! I wish I could remember what we ordered, but Know it was all very good, very fresh. Loved that the kitchen was all right there. Very intimate, lovely date night. Another review said the gyoza was amazing, I'm not sure that's the item I'd recommend for everyone. It wasn't bad, just didn't meet the hype. We got a few rolls, gyoza, sake and a beer for around $50. Like I said, just a great date night place and really matched our budget. This place is amazing!! They have great customer service, and reasonable prices. The 2 specialty rolls I had were the tequila and super crunch and the flavors burst!! Super fresh, and they don't smell fishy! They were out of Toro which was kind of a bummer, but no big deal. To my surprise they added Uni on the house for me to try and that was sooooo delicious!!
