Matt is a master at his craft. Precise, fast, efficient. Far and away the most pleasant root canal of the three performed in my lifetime.

The office staff are very confused and do not seem to understand or know how to operate electronic technology. Not only did they mess up my records, but they kept calling me for scheduled follow up appointments, even after I cancelled all my appointments and asked them to inactivate my profile - TWICE. Wouln't want to risk getting any services here. The "office manager" was really rude as well.

And when I tried to reschedule they did everything to not schedule me in, first they tried pushing me 2 months out hoping I'd just say no, but when I accepted to their surprise, they quickly changed doctors to some other doctor I don't even know, then when I asked for Dr Ho, suddenly he became unavailable... it's just too obvious come on now.. On my first visit Dr Ho didn't even greet me or just say Hi. I was a business owner for 12 years and that's definitely not how I treated my clients. I'm not a number, I'm a human being who is reaching out to get help from a doctor who apparently won't even talk to you if you don't have your X rays done.. what is this a military boot camp come on? Saying hello only takes less than a minute and if it's not in your heart to give another human being just 1 minute of your time then I definitely think you shouldn't be working on my teeth. I feel this office prioritizes money & time over wanting to genuinely help people. So much for this referral, congratulations on you being the best dentist in town I'll look elsewhere.

He's not about squeezing in every human body into a can of sardines, instead he will screen you first, see what you need, and if he connects with your chi... If you're lucky enough to be a patient of Dr. Ueda you'll find a man who speaks softly, but has lived three lifetimes. I find it refreshing to have a dentist that shares my stories of travels around the world and life itself. If you knew about Dr. Ueda's journey and how he's here you'd probably admire him three-fold. He's a survivor, like I am, but it's best to live and not dwell. 10-stars for talk on Lady Sumo to Om living. I'm currently in America to take care of all my medical and dental needs and why not polish my grill before I fly back to Japan on my continued travels. Dr. Ueda is located in the Public Radio building (2nd floor) just across of Don Quijote on Kaheka in Honolulu. Parking is free in his private stalls "Dr. Ueda Parking" just up the ramp. Entering the building you'll probably notice a vending machine and a hallway that reminds one of Intermediate school bungalows. Narrow and eerie lol. Just follow the signs to his office and before entering you'll see an original Yoshitoshi Mori (森 義利) framed woodblock print. As a historian and art major I noticed the bold artwork. Upon entering you'll probably be greeted by Dr. Ueda himself. As of this writing he has no receptionist or employees. Dr. Ueda does it all. Rest assured if you have insurance he'll explain everything before you sign off. And if you're curious Dr. speaks English and fluent in Japanese and French! I came in for X-rays, general cleaning, and polishing! Long overdue as my last "teeth maintenance" was at UCSF in San Francisco early in 2022. The good news is that my grill is structurally sound... so yes, I can mogu mogu and enjoy all the good foods that life has to offer - just avoid too much sugar and brush or rinse after all meals! It's nice to be reminded by a respected dentist how it's important to flush out what goes in! As I shake my head in agreement like Eric the kid! :D It's rare to find a dentist that will explain everything he's doing and not be in such a rush with "next!" You get that Dr. Ueda truly cares about your well being. I truly enjoyed chatting, or as locals say "talking story", with a man of the world. We even watched an episode of Lady Sumo on NHK-TV and discussed it lol. You just don't have dental encounters like this anymore... a positive experience that left me smiling 'til next time! What started as a routine…read morecleaning turned into being told I needed two root canals after mentioning that one tooth hurt slightly when flossing. I take very good care of my teeth, so I was shocked by the diagnosis and price it would be. I spoke with a friend later that day, who suggested I get a second opinion from an endodontist before moving forward with such invasive and expensive dental work. I was able to schedule an appointment with Island Endodontics fairly quickly, and I'm so glad I did. The office was easy to find, had convenient parking, and was located in a beautiful building. Everything was extremely clean, modern, and equipped with what appeared to be the latest technology, not what I was used to seeing at my previous dentist's office! The staff was welcoming, friendly, and professional from the moment I arrived. Dr. Noz took the time to listen to my recent experience, reviewed my X-rays, and examined my teeth. He discovered that the tooth I was concerned about actually had a crack from an old filling. He even mentioned that recommending a root canal after just one test seemed like a significant jump for this particular issue. Although he doesn't typically perform fillings, he was kind enough to help me with this one and also provided referrals to other dentists he trusts. Within a few weeks, the filling was repaired, and I can happily say that it completely resolved the discomfort I was experiencing. Dr. Noz was honest, thorough, and genuinely cared about finding the correct solution rather than recommending unnecessary treatment. That's exactly the kind of integrity you hope to find in a medical professional. I hope I never need to see an endodontist again, but if I do, I will absolutely return to Dr. Noz and his outstanding team at Island Endodontics. Mahalo for everything!!!

I searched and found Hawaii Endodontics and another dental office. After reading Yelp reviews, I decided to go with Hawaii Endodontics. I was able to get an appt with Dr Chong the next working day. He did a great job fixing my tooth! He and his assistant Emily moved together smoothly and finished in less than an hour. No pain during the procedure with some expected soreness later in the day. Now I can go back to vacation!! ------------ Two notes: 1) Parking garage was very full - I had to park on the top floor. 2) There were two things they recommended for my case that were not covered by insurance. Grateful my dentist was able to have my teeth aligned again after a tooth shifted from the fall, but knew I had to be checked on the teeth's nerves and roots. My dentist referred me out to Hawaii Endodontics (HE). HE was founded in 2009 and has now expanded to 3 locations (Honolulu, Aiea and Kailua) on Oahu offering root canals utilizing modern technology. I decided to go to their Honolulu clinic on the 5th floor of Hale Pawaa as I'm familiar with this building and it's near my home. I already had an appointment at Hale Pawaa to see my PCP so I made my way to the 5F to speed up the appointment process. I wanted to avoid leaving a message and wait for the call back. It was easy scheduling the appointment and I asked to be paired with one of the four professionals recommended by my dentist. Was advised I could be seen on Monday morning but had to wait until they confirmed with my insurance on the coverage. Dr. Howard Kang was assigned to me and I also had to complete a questionnaire prior to be seen. It was basically personal information and general health questions. I'll be frank where I was nervous to see Dr. Kang as my front teeth and mouth were stiltvery sensitive and this has been keeping me from getting deep sleep at night. The tenderness, discomfort and anxiety have been on my mind but glad I was seeking the medical attention I really needed. The dental assistant was very friendly and encouraged me to relax - - I guess it was obvious by my actions and facial expressions. Soon after Dr. Kang entered and asked several questions prior to having x-rays performed and tests done. The results determined the root canal for tooth #8 as it didn't respond to the sensitivity test and confirmed by the x-ray results. Anesthesia was performed and Dr. Kang conducted the procedure. It was painless and he kept me posted with the steps involved. Prior to departure, I was provided with a prescription for a stronger dose of Ibuprofen to be taken after the anesthesia fades away. This experience wasn't what I had hoped for but that's life. I was informed of my copay portion prior to the appointment and paid my share prior to leaving the office. In closing, I'm pleased with this experience and glad my dentist referred me to HE. I found Dr. Kang and the staff very cordial and informative, especially I'm not that experienced with root canals.
