Stopped here for breakfast on our way through Malone. The parking lot was full (a good sign the food is good!). Nice looking inside and out. Sat ourselves as instructed by the sign. Our server was friendly and timely. The breakfast menu had a great selection of omelettes, eggs, breakfast combinations and sides. Ordered my breakfast of 2 eggs, ham, home fries and homemade white toast. My husband had biscuits with sausage gravy, 2 eggs and peaches on the side. It came quickly. I have to say the portion of ham was big! The toast was thick cut and delicious. I couldn't eat my entire breakfast and ended up taking 1/2 to go. I've been to this restaurant quite a few times,It used to be really good. Yesterday I went for dinner with my family, The waitress was amazing, I ordered the turkey dinner.The Pic below should say it all,but in case it's not clear enough,I'll tell you. This meal was 14.00 and, in my opinion, was not worth 5.00 The turkey I was expecting was a slice of roasted turkey,and I believe, but I don't know for sure it was luncheon turkey sliced thick and only warm. The gravey was chicken gravy. And the corn was a brownish color. The stuffing was mushy and slimy. I don't know what happened,but this restaurant at one time was one of my favorites in this area. But honestly, the waitress was great. I'm gonna pass on this restaurant the next time we go out in the Malone area. read more

My family and I came to Malone New York for a family event (from FL). At Hosler's my husband had the glacier with chili and onions and Poutaine (fries with gravy and cheese curds) He said both were incredibly delicious but I have to say.....I had the BEST RUEBEN I have ever had in my 56 years! I truly could have ordered a second and maybe a third one, it was just that good! Besides the company and the delicous food, JESS our server was a doll! We came in right before closing the night before, she served us even though the day was coming to an end. I am certain she was exhausted but she served with joy....so we returned the next day and JESS again treated us so kindly (like family) and was not at all annoyed with our crowd of people with multiple questions and requests. Jess and the food make Hosler's a restaurant I give a 5 star rating to both! If you find yourself in Malone- stop in for a bite to eat, you wont be disappointed. read more

SO and I were in the area for a wedding, and went here for breakfast bc another small-town restaurant turned out to be permanently closed now. We decided to "settle" on Holser's because the next closest non-fast food breakfast spot was something like 9mi away. "Settling" is actually not a fair term for this place. As soon as we rolled up, we noticed that the parking lot was packed - which is a good sign. It's a "walk-in, seat yourself" place and the waitress stopped by with menus and for a drink order within a minute or two. I believe our server's name was Teri - she was super sweet (and patient!) while I tried to decide on what I wanted, and was helpful and attentive (without being overbearing). Both my SO and I were honestly super surprised by how good the food was. We're coming from lower NY with some really awesome food establishments so we do have our standards set. The restaurant offers delicious homemade bread, the OJ tastes like it's fresh squeezed (not sure if it is or not but if it *is* from concentrate, that's a really good sub), the omelets and home fries were perfectly seasoned, and getting a side cup of sausage gravy for dipping was a good choice. I'm perpetually concerned that I'm not going to get enough food to satiate my appetite so I always over order, but tbh the omelet plate was just enough to satisfy without leaving me overstuffed and wasting food. We noticed they advertise a Sunday breakfast buffet, so we'll definitely be back tomorrow. Thoroughly impressed, and, although I can't weigh in on lunch options, if you're in the area you should definitely stop by for breakfast. read more

Well, food hasn't arrived yet, so I can't comment on that, so I'll start with this. The owner or manager guy was moving tables for a large group, stopped mid-job and shoved his hand down the back of his pants to pull up his underwear... A sight I shall never be able to un-see. You may ask if he went to wash his hands... Not in the next 10 minutes where he continued to rearrange the tables and order the servers around to clean up the floor (which needed it) and comment about something on the floor looking like a pile of hair. We ordered a fish fry and a turkey club sandwich. The fish was over cooked and dry, but the fresh cut fries were delish! The turkey club was huge and had an ample amount of bacon (many places scrimp), but the cheese was that nasty american cheese that isn't really cheese. Overall the turkey club was ok, the bacon could have been drained and cooked a bit before putting it on the sandwich as there were puddles under the sandwich and the lettuce was cooked in places. Presentation was nice. Our server paid much more attention to the locals. Too bad, she might have gotten a better tip if she had checked in and then actually brought the napkin I asked for and a glass of water. Next time we're in town, not coming here. read more

Hoslers is a mom and pop operation. We usually eat in the bar. The staff and owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. Great home made soups, awesome club sandwiches and good burgers. Breakfast is served all day. Nothing fancy but good comfort food. read more

My daughter and I had dinner at Hoslers Today. Very disappointed. we ordered water and a soda. We were not given straws and when we asked we were told that there weren't any. Funny thing is that everyone else had them. I questioned her and she says she stole them from another waitress and did we want one. Our dinners came. But we had to ask for our soup and salad that she forgot. i got the peas. They were ice cold. I mean like they were right out of the can cold. I told her. She said you want them heated up. I said no thanks. She said this happens a lot. Cold peas. She brought us our bill. Never asked us if we wanted dessert. This will be my last time to this establishment. I feel they've really gone down hill recently and it's a shame. With the very limited culinary experiences Malone has it's up to the establishments to keep things great and not rest on past laurels. If you're only in it to make a buck and you have no passion for the work then do everyone a favor and quietly walk away. read more

Update: I haven't returned to Hosler's for about 6 months after an absolutely DISGUSTING encounter. I called in a dinner order for my family, and one of the meals came with a salad bar side salad. When I arrived to pick up, the staff gave me a to-go container to make my salad. As I was making my salad, I found multiple rotten tomatoes which exploded with mold when I went to pick them up. I quickly put them down and investigated the rest of the salad bar. The cucumbers were so spoiled that when I went to pick one up, a thick line of slime hung from the cucumber I was holding to the rest of the container of cucumber. The broccoli was browned and the red onions were just sitting in a pool of liquid. It was absolutely disgusting. It was as though they had prepped the salad at the beginning of the week and just left the same ingredients out all week. I attempted to alert the staff but my concerns were brushed off. Had I not already paid, I would have just walked out without my food. Neither my husband nor I could stand to eat our food after that, and are still disgusted. If this restaurant can't even maintain a salad bar that is out in the public eye, I'm disgusted to think about what their kitchen looks like behind closed doors. Gag. read more

We all had the pasta dish, the pasta tasted over cooked from earlier in the day and then reheated for our meals. The waitress asked how everything was, I told her how the dish was and that I didn't like it. She asked me to describe it and said well ok I'll tell the cook. She didn't ask if I would like anything else she asked my child if she wanted her plate, my child said yes. So she left the table. Hello who is paying the bill, a 10 year old or me? I waited for her to return to order something else but, she avoided us. By the time she came back to ask me if I'd like something more, it was time for the check. None of us ate the pasta. Thank God I didnt try to order something else. We get the check and it was still on there. She hadn't removed it from the bill. Now that makes me mad, I made it clear I wasn't eating it, I took 2 bites and put my napkin over it and yet she still charged me. My husband paid the bill anyways. He didn't want to argue, here's the point I should not have had to say anything more. I shouldn't had to ask to remove it from the bill, I told you it was bad, placed my napkin over it and didn't eat any more of it. None of us did, I applaud my family though, they ate 4 more bites of it before saying that was all they could stand. Now the appropriate thing would have been is to remove it from the bill then charge me for one trip to the salad bar or a small salad as that is what I portioned to eat in anticipation of my meal. When she handed us the bill said she was sorry...."yeah well too late". I will not eat there again. read more

This restaurant has the most pathetic salad bar I've ever seen. Everything is wilted and dried out. As far as our dinner goes, it was obviously very cheap quality food trying to be disguised as being worth the price they charge. The only bright side was the service from our waitress.
