I've been here plenty of times and it's a decent bagel shop. The bagels are large and doughy inside and crispy on the outside. They have plenty of varieties and a full breakfast menu. There is a small seating area if you prefer to eat in as well. This day I had a sesame bagel with cream cheese and jelly and it was fine with a request of light on the cream cheese. We also got an omelette with a side of hash browns which was also good. The seating area is tight so be prepared to squeeze in. The service was good and food did arrive pretty quickly. I can't even begin to express how amazing this place is, not only do they have a plethora of options they also have several vegan options as well! My mom and I love to come here because they have delicious options for both of us plus they are always super friendly and go out of there way to take special care in keeping my moms allergies in mind by using a separate knife. Fun Fact: the word 'bagel' literally comes from the Yiddish word for 'ring', so if it's not round, it's not a bagel. (And yes... I totally stole that from a Yelp email from a year or two ago.) I decided to get out of my usual five-mile-radius of bagel joints and Siri took me here. And since I've never been the sharpest tool in the shed - it actually took me three visits before it dawned on me that 'Hot Bagel' is in their name and the bagels they give you are scorching hot through the paper bag.  (That's some truth in advertising, huh?!) We've tried a few of their options... Everything to Russian to Rainbow to Everything Whole Wheat.  And they're all... pretty good. Decent (enough) amount of seasoning, maybe a bit too doughy and mushy and not enough 'bite' on the outer shell. Cold drink selection - standard. Gals behind the counter - always really friendly. Continuing my tour across NJ having bagels at every possible bagel store, I came across Hot Bagels Abroad after my dentist appointment. Given where I was headed, my order was a wheat bagel with veggie cream cheese. Veggie cream cheese was definitely made in-house using plenty of veggies! Love a spread like this. Went there today ordered a wrap egg potatoes cheese and bacon got no bacon. Also ordered a Flagler with bacon and egg. Got the wrap waited 5 more minutes asked about the flagle. The bagels here are amazing, but the service is terrible! I have been kept waiting 40 minutes for my order to then be told that they don't have to bagels I requested. I have folded to order and then left waiting on the phone to then have them hang up. I have given orders over the phone as well as when arrived to pick up. Bagels Abroad makes stellar top shelf bagels, bialy's & flagels. The sandwiches are good because they use Boars Head Deli & the bagels are great. The staff is ok, could be friendlier. They rarely answer the phone to place an order as you head over. The drinks cooler is GROSS. Dirty inside, always poorly stocked & offer very few sugar-free drinks. The counters are always dusty & looks dirty. You can tell there is no general manager operating the place. The closing crew cleans with their eyes closed. Clifton Health Dept needs to visit more often. But I go there mainly because they make great bagels. read more

Expect a wait. The line was almost out the door this morning. I heard good things about this place wished they warned me about the wait time: I did wait over 20 minutes. Was it worth the wait, yes. The breakfast bagel was satisfying, the way they prepare their food here taste so "natural". Not greasy at all. They don't over due it I must say. It was also worth waiting because the regulars were kind, spoke to you, and said good morning. The owner walked around and greeted everyone. The ambiance was friendly. I enjoyed the conversation I had with the customer in front of me. I do recommend on a morning like today, placing your order first before hand and picking it up to avoid the wait. I noticed a lot of regulars would skip the line, walk right up to the register and pick up their order. I did notice the dine-in area, not to many people sat down. I would say at least 90% of the customers do take-out here. Possibly weekends only. It was my first time, nice to see the inside. The interesting statue of a butler gave me a laugh. Hot Bagels Abroad is right by my office so I come here pretty often for breakfast and lunch. Their egg platters are delicious and plentiful. They come with home fries and toast. They also don't skimp out on cheese or sides of bacon and taylor ham, if you ask for that. Since I'm usually doing the low carb thing, I stay away from their bagels. However, I've had them a couple of times and enjoyed them; they're the soft and fluffy kind. For lunch, I almost always get their chicken caesar salad. They use Ken's or Kraft dressing so nothing too special there but their grilled chicken is excellent. I'm actually impressed that a bagel/breakfast place makes such delicious grilled chicken. I asked them about it and they said they pound it out to tenderize it, marinate it for a couple hours or overnight, season it and then grill it. While it's not the best chicken I've ever had in my life, it's exceptionally delicious for a bagel place where you'd expect them to make plain, boring grilled chicken. Their home made salads (i.e. tuna, pasta, chicken and seafood) are really great as well. Some of the lunch special items come with a small side of pasta salad. It's a very, very small side container. So small that I wonder why they even bother giving it out. It's like only one mouthful of pasta salad. It's good though and it comes with the special so whatever. I've also had their tuna and seafood salad both of which I enjoyed very much. I can't tell if the seafood salad uses real crab meat/lobster meat or imitation. It was good regardless though. Minus one star because their delivery sucks. My office is only a mile away and they took an hour to deliver both times I called for it. So, I just do pick up now instead. read more

I really enjoy the food from here. The food gets 5 stars. But it takes 15-20 minutes average for them to make my food. I have been a frequent bagel shop customer in my hometown of Fair Lawn and none of the shops would ever take this long. There's something about their process that clearly isn't efficient. Having had skipped breakfast most days out of the week, I found myself ordering from Hot Bagels a lot. As far as taste, I've never had a problem. Their egg sandwiches taste great. The bacon always crisp and they also offer turkey bacon which, in my option, tastes even better. Their hash browns are hit or miss. There have been few times I received them a bit burnt and it ruins the taste for me. I have tried their build your own omelette once but couldn't bear myself to eat as it was undercooked, the eggs were too runny and slimy from the excess water from the tomatoes added on. Bagels are fresh and they have a few of different cream cheeses to chose from. It's true their delivery, especially, in the morning is very slow. My office is only one block down and we would have a wait time of about an hour to an hour and half to receive our breakfast. Pick up, therefore, is way more efficient if you're close by and don't want to wait. Dine-in is also possible at this location as they have a few tables and chairs on the side. My office would place orders for about 4-8 people. The order would be placed on the phone. There would be several times where 1) they would place us on hold for an extremely long time, and 2) mess or mix up our orders. Besides a few blunders every now and then, Hot Bagels egg sandwiches and turkey bacon keep me coming back. read more

Also, PLEASE STOP being cheap w/ Taylor ham and overcooking it on the grill! No one wants burnt Taylor ham in their sandwich! Inventive bagels ! - rainbow, green (for St. Patrick's Day), French toast, chocolate chip, blueberry, etc. These are good quality bagels and I will definitively come again. Kids loved all the "modern" bagel flavors. They also do mini bagels which are great for classes or work breakfasts. read more

The bagel store has a lot of potential to do really well. However, it's ultimately complicated from ordering to receiving your order and that's if it's right. The bagels doesn't seem as fresh unfortunately. Tips to improve:They need a POS system, maybe a uniform to match who's working there, maybe smile and address customers as "may I help the next guest." Also address the line when customers come in, change the setting so that guests are not all over one another. Good luck hope the store can improve. read more

Great bagels! I got a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. The bagel was well toasted, but the cream cheese was a little soupy. The line was long, but the staff moved very quickly. These are VERY fresh bagels. I took one to go and heated it up the next day.... I could still taste the freshness. I would love to go again! read more

I usually come here every Saturday for my Cinnamon Raisin bagel. Service is usually pretty quick. The staff is NORMALLY friendly. But not today 7/21/18. The short dude working the counter seemed annoyed for whatever reason. Maybe it was because I asked for a separate bag for the garlic bagel I also ordered Who wants their cinnamon raisin bagel smelling or tasting like garlic?? After giving me my change I said Thank You and he just yelled "Next!" Anyway, I may have to look for a new bagel spot. I had one of the best cinnamon bagels I ever had from a place in Jersey City this week. It was amazing but of course too far to travel each week. The lunch hour is never overly busy so I don't find myself waiting too long. Their iced coffee is not bad!
