This review is solely about the sandwich I had--I didn't interact with any staff or visit the store myself. A friend brought it to me to try. I'd rate it 2.5 out of 5 stars. It looked really good, but the flavor just wasn't there. The bagel also didn't seem very fresh and was quite tough. From what I understand, it was a bit pricey for what it was. I also tried an iced coffee, which was unfortunately similar--lacking in flavor and somewhat overpriced. Because of that, I wouldn't be inclined to visit the shop at this time. However, I'll keep an eye on future reviews to see if there are any improvements that might change my mind. read more

The bagels are made in site and they are fresh and not hard. A key to being able to eat such a thick sandwich. My coffee was delicious too. 3 stars for the Cookie Butter Cold Brew (I added oatmilk) because it was delicious! This location has been open for over 2 weeks now and still has a very hectic vibe to it. As soon as you walk in there are people standing kind of in a line and kind of not, once you figure out where the line to order is you can either order with a person or in the kiosk. Ordering is quick, but the wait for your order is where things start to get lost.. we ordered 2 coffees and it was read to us with the name & 2 of 2, but the first one never came out, we made them away and they swore they gave it to us. There are multiple folks in the kitchen cooking, but when passing to the pick up area everything is not labeled. As for the food, I had the Fuego on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and wasn't too impressed. O'Bagel successfully avoids this trap by utilizing a large space with digital kiosks that allow customers to easily place orders. While they have a counter available to order from, the kiosk is usually quick and easy to navigate. They have a variety of bagels, sandwiches, sides, and drinks available, but I have opted for their gluten-free bagels every visit. The gf bagels taste a little typical, IYKYK, but for the convenience of being able to go out with my SO to grab breakfast, I can't complain. As a Montclair local, it was exciting trying O'Bagel for the first time! The staff is just as friendly as they appear to be on social media. I would say my experience there was my favorite. I had a plain taylor ham, egg, and cheese. My boyfriend got the bee sting, and it was far more delicious! I would say try ordering off their designed menu as the bagels listed are far more delicious and flavorful. If you're looking to order a traditional bagel, I would say going somewhere else local will surpass. Can't wait to come back and try their coffees! read more

Went on opening day and the line was out the door which seemed like a good sign. I had never tried O'Bagel's other locations so I went in completely blind. I got their Jersey Debate on an everything bagel- I believe a way to gauge a good bagel shop is by how their taylor ham, egg and cheese tastes -. Unfortunately, they had ran out of everything bagels so I told them to give me a plain one (side note: It had been 35 minutes since I ordered when I heard an employee say to another one that they had ran out of everything, so that's when I told them to switch mine to whatever they had available. I believe that, as soon as they ran out, they should've made an announcement for others who were ordering through the tablets and didn't know they were getting something that wasn't available). The bagel was okay, and a bit less than average in my opinion. I do have to say that they did a great job with the Taylor Ham, but that is about it. They have plenty of seating inside so I was able to grab a table and eat there which was appreciated since I had been waiting for a total of over an hour before I got my food. Overall, there are much better bagel shops in Montclair so I'd give those others a try instead. read more

Worst bagel I've had in a while. I got a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese (they didn't have a good pairing for the French toast bagel or any egg bagels available) and it was just blah. No flavor, big chunks in the cream cheese and the music in the shop is awful. You're better off going to Hot Bagels Abroad or Bloomfield Bagels. Glad I tried it but will not be back. I was really excited when this spot opened in Montclair, especially since I used to go to the Hoboken location when I lived there for 2 years. Unfortunately, the quality here just isn't measuring up. For example, I ordered an everything bagel scooped with cream cheese. I didn't tick the box to have it toasted, yet it came out hard as a rock. Why would a bagel be that dense and tough if it's supposed to be fresh? On a previous order, I got a bagel toasted, scooped, with scallion cream cheese. I specifically noted lightly toasted--but it seems they only read the word "light," because I ended up with the thinnest smear of cream cheese I've ever seen. Parts of the bagel were bare with no cream cheese at all. I get that they're new and working out kinks, but between the inconsistent prep and the lack of attention to order details, the experience is subpar at best. The marketing and hype are great, but unfortunately the product itself doesn't live up :( read more

I waited a bit to go before they opened, to give them a chance to iron out any kinks. I went on a Saturday morning around 8:15, found parking right in front. Not too many people seated, but a few waiting around. I placed my order at the counter, 2 bagels - 1 poppyseed, 1 everything, with a side of vegetable cream cheese. I had to go to the pick up area to get my bagels. One would think, since I was just getting a couple of bagels, and the smallest side of cream cheese they offer that I would be in and out quickly. NO, not happening and no eye contact from people behind the counter. I had to wait for three other people's breakfast sandwich orders before I got my 2 bagels. I looked inside my bag before I left the counter and they forgot the cream cheese. By the time I got my order, I had been waiting at least 10 minutes. I got home and each bagel was wrapped in paper and cut (I didn't want them cut). These were the worst bagels I have had. They had no taste whatsoever. Toasting them and putting the cream cheese on didn't even help. Why should I have to wait to get a couple of bagels that can be put in a bag with cream cheese in under 5 minutes? I have been getting bagels for years. These were poorly made, nothing compared to the traditional rolled, boiled, baked bagels of the previous establishment. This is a good hipster bagel spot. Had 3 bagels, THEC, plain, BEC. All pretty good - their more creative bagels looks like where it's at. Was excited to try as my Hoboken friend raved. Went with the smoked salmon w cc ($16??). Salmon was cut about 3x thicker than it should be and bagels were mid. Disappointed. Tick tock overhype. I know montclair has a lot of New York transplants and therefore I'm sure they don't mind the New York pricing. I can get a better bagel with more lox and cream cheese for $12. O'bagel is $14 for a scan amount of lox plus an additional $1.75 for cream cheese. With tax I believe it came to $17. Definitely better options in the area. Bagel was slightly overcooked very crusty on the small side not very satisfying. I drove past three bagel shops to try out o'bagel and don't believe I will be returning. read more
