They take pride in their offerings. They have a section of used & donated goods for resale all neatly displayed and hung up. I have found 2 authentic Coach purses in great condition for only $5 each!!! Then they have a retail section in which you can grab brand new items from the shelf just like at a big box store but at a vastly discounted price. I have already purchased many items that will be under my tree. Now for the best part, they have bins which contain anything & everything. All items in the bins are a flat price based on the day of the week, Fri $10 - Sat $8 - Sun $6 - Mon $4 - Tues $2 you then decide if you want the item at $10 on Fri or take a chance to see if it's still there for $2 Tues. I have found some amazing brand new items on my last couple of Friday visits such as a $278 Michael Kors wallet, $470 foot/leg circulation machine, $169 roller skates, $60 under cabinet pullout organizer and MANY more all for $10 or less!!!

But the last couple of times I've shopped at CTS, the cashiers randomly picked items that they decided "weren't priced right" and refused to sell them, telling me they would be repriced (i.e.higher) the next day & that I could come back for them. What?!?! The first time, it was a large bowl that the cashier said someone had changed tags on & she went in to tell me they've been having"issues" with that lately...she even unsuccessfully tried to peel one tag off the other. I really question whether such an "issue" exists...I mean, I understand tag switching can be an issue in retail, but who randomly switches tags and then leaves the items on the shelves for other people to buy?! My guess is that whoever tags their items made some sort of mistake and placed a 2nd tag directly over the first...I couldn't even tell there were two tags when I put the bowl in my cart. Funny enough, when I returned the next day AT OPENING, the bowl miraculously was no longer in the store. Hmmmmm! The other was tonight when I brought up several items including a sewing kit/box that was priced at $5.95. She rang up everything else in my order, and then when she got to the sewing kit, she looked it over with great interest then said it was priced too low & refused to sell it! Given that their pricing structure is usually 25% of what you'd expect to pay retail, and a new sewing box of this type on Amazon is $20, the ticketed price was right in line, but NOPE...clerk-lady said it would be repriced the next day and that I could come back for it. Ummm yeah right...wanna bet she is going to take it home for herself?! Not honoring their tagged prices is such a an odd and unfortunate way to do business, especially with some of their most loyal (and lucrative) customers. :-/

Today, however, Germaine, my cashier, was gracious, polite, and courteous. Way nicer than any of the other cashiers. She is a gem. And needs to be recognized to a higher position. Lewis Ave, Waukegan, IL, on Sunday, January 26, 2026, approximately one hour prior to closing. Upon entering the store, I immediately noticed that the entrance area was slippery and unclean, creating a potential safety hazard. I nearly slipped in the doorway, which I found concerning, as most Ross locations I have visited typically have either a security officer or a store associate positioned at the entrance to welcome customers and maintain a safe environment. Once inside, I observed several issues impacting both safety and customer service. The store appeared disorganized, with numerous items out of place or lacking price tags. While I understand that this was during the last hour of sales, I was surprised by the lack of floor support or proactive assistance for customers. As I approached the checkout area, I noticed a significant line forming around the jewelry counter. I requested assistance from two store associates who were present but engaged in a personal conversation. When I asked them to assist a gentleman who was handling a line of more than eight customers, one associate informed me that staff members were on break. As someone with over 28 years of professional experience in customer service, leadership, and retail across multiple industries, I am aware that employee breaks are typically scheduled so as not to impact customer support or store operations. When I asked for her name and position, the associate refused to provide her name, stating only that she was a manager. Her demeanor was dismissive and unprofessional, which negatively impacted my experience and, I would argue, the overall morale and performance of the store. Eventually, another associate, who was on break and wearing her name badge, came to assist at the front, and I appreciated her effort. However, the initial interactions left a strong impression regarding the importance of staff accountability and professionalism. We are currently in a challenging economic environment, and every dollar spent by customers is meaningful. When a store does not value the hard-earned money of its clients or fails to provide the level of service customers expect, it risks losing them. Poor service can create a domino effect, ultimately impacting sales, customer loyalty, and team morale. I respectfully encourage your leadership team to reinforce policies regarding staff engagement, customer service, and floor coverage, particularly during peak or closing hours. Customers notice how staff are treated and how they conduct themselves, and these interactions directly influence repeat business. Providing the level of service one would expect as a customer is not just courteous -- it is essential to maintaining a strong, loyal client base. Thank you for taking the time to review my feedback. Piles of clothing and shoes all over. I feel bad for the workers because cleaning after people who don't hang things back up is yes unfortunate. I ended up finding an item but almost didn't get it because the line was backed up with only one cashier. There was another employee that could have jumped on the register to help but I guess they had other duties. Ross prices are going up so there's not even a real reason to shop there.
