Definitely a larger Salvation Army than your average stores. But needless to say, they do have a great selection of clothing and lot's of named brands. Also Salvation Army's always have 1/2 off sales on certain tag colors weekly. Sorry to say that it's not the same anymore, as it's gone downhill during the past few years. A recent disappointment has been the reduction of the senior discount from 25% to 10% on Wednesdays. It can be difficult to navigate inside the store since large clothing racks with new items are left within the aisles, obstructing the racks and making it difficult to shop. Although the clothing is supposed to be sorted by size, it is so mixed up that the organization system has been rendered useless for the most part. Overhead lights are flickering in several areas of the store which makes me feel uncomfortable and gives me a headache. The fitting rooms are dirty and unwelcoming, and I dread using them. I have to wonder what's happened to all the great items I used to come across regularly, since now so much of what's in the store feels like it's been picked over. Prices tend to be a bit more reasonable than some other thrift stores, but the selection has been sub par as of late. They used to have a nice selection of jewelry items, but they no longer carry jewelry. I used to see nice quality handbags, shoes and clothing in the store, but now that's rare. I can't help but wonder if the better donations are going somewhere else now.

Sometime in the last few years, Goodwill of Greater Milwaukee and Chicago decided to take a chunk of the money they make off of other people's donations and invest in ScentBridge. They pump the most godawful, overwhelming odors throughout their stores. Sometimes, it is dialed to a minimum, but usually it's on full blast and it clings to everything. To books of course, but to metal bowls too. It's so bad, my boyfriend asks me to shower as soon as I come home. An avid book collector, he now refuses anything from the local goodwills, because unlike metal bowls or clothes, you can't wash books. Corporate says the scents aren't harmful, but my nose and head beg to differ. I can't spend 15 minutes inside a local goodwill without my nose running becoming inflamed. Another 10 minutes and i start sneezing and my head pounds. ScentBridge markets its products as regulated by IFRA. IFRA, mind you, is an industry-based self-regulating organization plagued by criticism for its lack of transparency and for acting in its own self-interest. In keeping with the spirit of secrecy, goodwill refuses to disclose a list of its scent's ingredients. For all we know, the scents contain carcinogens or other harmful chemicals. I'm far from the only one who has complained: friends and family can't stand the stench, strangers have also reached out to corporate, and even employees tell me they hate the smell and prefer the scent of used clothes to the ScentBridge garbage. Unfortunately, it can't be turned off locally. This location also stinks figuratively for reasons already mentioned in other reviews.

There's generally a theme to the different storefronts: women's vintage clothing, funny and lovey-dovey sayings regarding dogs and cats, plastic and silk flowers, dairy and farm, sarcastic sayings, whiskey barrel designs for the men dragged into this place, etc. My wife and I found a whimsical chip and dip bowl. It was nice and will replace one of the blander versions we have at home. Truthfully, there were quite a bit of items that were perfect housewarming gifts and gifts for people who have specific decor tastes. It's also a decent place to just kill some time browsing through all the stuff people have created to get your own creative juices flowing.
