Reasonable prices are the big sell here. Place is very tight to order for us fluffy folks when they are busy. Tables are all outside. I grew up west of Hot Dog Annie's back when it first opened and for a long time after that. You could get 8 hot dogs for a dollar back then and their special sauce has retained its great flavor. New England style buns that were designed to be toasted on a grill Or in a pan pressed thin so they didn't take up too much space helped you eat 8 hot dogs all by yourself pretty easily. Cash only! (ATM on site if you aren't a local and don't know the deal) Place was busy for a random afternoon. Tried a hot dog and a BBQ dog and their root beer - all good, if small. The BBQ dog had a good taste, was dreading some sort of overpowered sweet sauce but it was actually mild and very good. Root beer was also good. Only weird thing was when I dropped a a dollar bill in the tip jar, an employee working there immediately grabbed the jar, dumped the change and then replaced it on the window. Curious, like a moth to the flame, I ordered another dog when I finished my meal and it was repeated albeit slightly slower than before. Anyway, definitely worth stopping in and trying. If you love hot dogs, Hotdog Annie's is a local institution that has changed very little since it's inception in the early 50's. Originally called the "Silver Grill", I remember them selling 8 dogs for $1 in the mid to late 1950's. This is a take-out joint, with no inside seating and ambience that can only be described as "low brow". Your choices are eat at one of the many outdoor picnic tables, eat in your car or take your meal home. Food choices are limited to regular dogs, barbecue dogs, hamburgers, sodas, chocolate milk and chips. I love HDA's. Barbecue dogs are my favorites. There is lots of parking. Depending on when you visit, there can be a long line, but the service is friendly and highly efficient. I have been going there for 65 years. read more

This place is more than I expected. The women who run this place have successfully implemented all the aspects of running a restaurant, perfectly; there is ample seating (in the safe or sun or both!) , plenty of parking, and the garbage bins are clearly marked. Even on a busy day, you can place a large order and it will be done expeditiously, without error. The food is delicious. I'm not a huge hot dog fan, but I would gladly drive the 45min to come back. This is a great place to eat; it's friendly and gives you that local feel. I highly recommend you come for a meal! read more

This place is a landmark, for Worcester, and it's surrounding towns. While hotdog Annie's is actually located on route 56 in Leicester, it's often associated with the Worcester food district. I personally love this place. I've been going as long as I can remember. I used to go there with my grandfather back in 1980's the hotdogs and drinks and chips are a little bit more expensive now but that goes with the territory I guess. However the hospitality. And the ambience of Hot dog Annie's is something you can't get anywhere else. I would highly recommend this for any family, I think hotdogs run at about $1.75 -1.90 apiece they have homemade root beer cream soda bottled water, etc. etc. They also have other items for sale including french fries hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Came here on a road trip. Cool place and prices are inexpensive. Not the most pleasant staff but their bbq sauce was good. Drove over an hour to get here and saw some great color changing trees with the fall foliage. Nice day out but a welcoming smile and thank you, would've been nice. read more

I hate to leave a negative review, but I feel it is warranted. Showed up with my family on a Friday night at 6:50 pm. GMaps said they closed at 7:30 pm and Yelp said 8:30 pm. The sign said "Cash Only - ATM in Town." We are not from the area, so I stepped inside to ask which way to "town" so I could grab cash. The two ladies inside pointed the way and we left to get cash. We returned 11 mins later at 7:01 pm and when I tried to open the door- it was locked. I knocked on the door to ask if they were closed for the evening and the employees pretended to not notice me as they shut everything down. I do not understand why they would point me in the direction of the ATM, and then close before we could return. I'm not as frustrated that they closed early on a Friday night (they should update their hours online) as I am that they closed before we could return when it was evident that was our intention. I still hope to try their food while in town as I've heard great things. Just disappointed in the customer service. read more

My cousin and I decided to go here on a random weekend afternoon, around 11 am or so. As we were driving here from Worcester, I realized a few things. The scenery going here is amazing, super scenic with man bank river banks, I could definitely see pretty foliage views happening here in the fall. This however literally felt like the longest drive I've been on to hike out for hot dogs, about 30 mins or so. This place is essentially located in the middle of nowhere, that we almost missed it. There essentially was nothing in proximity to this cute little shack. It had just about opened by the time we got there, we walked in and were greeted by two sweet Asian ladies, I assume one of them was Annie. Extremely pleasant and quick to server. I ended up getting the works hot dog which consisted of the whole shabam, the hot dog topped with onions, mustard, a bbq sauce. I'm not sure what they have in their bbq sauce but it's amazing! I had one hot dog but definitely could have gotten 3! By the time we left, a little line was already forming! So glad I was able to discovery this little shack. This place opened my eyes to try a hot dog that includes BBQ sauce. Who would have known? Not me. Ever since then I've been hooked to BBQ sauce hot dogs. Weird but good. The dogs are small but for the price, you really can't beat it. Get two or three if you want and you won't break the bank. Not sure if their own brand labeled root beer is, in fact, made by Annie's but it sure is good! Unfortunately, from where I live this hot dog stand is too off the beaten path for me to come here regularly. This place has really gone way downhill. The hotdogs are now $2.00 each and they're the tiny Kayem 16's (16 to the pound). The bagged hot dog buns were stored in plain sight and are some cheap generic store brand; no longer batter-whipped Sunbeam bread. They're not served toasted any longer, which really affects the overall flavor. The once-famous BBQ sauce doesn't taste the same at all. It's obvious they're switched to store bought and just boiled onions in it. I saw empty cases of Open Pit in their dumpster, which confirms my suspicions. read more

Long time fan, first time reviewer! HDA was in its Golden Era in the 2000s, but she's changed. Copaganda is plastered all over the walls, including a disproportionate representation of the K-9 unit for some reason. They've spared no square inch. I'm just not sure what the branding is at this point. I come here for hotdogs not to be accosted by American flags. There's patriotism all over the walls like a retired detective who's obsessing over a cold case, pouring over the evidence that he's taped up in his office. I still eat here, but now I feel dirty when I do. Back in my day, the service staff was all teenagers and I'm uncomfortable with the youth being exposed to this kind of stuff. I hope HDA will return to its roots and stop pandering to Leicester townspeople. read more

I grew up and always stopped for Annie hot dog since I was little girl. First time I come here today from like +5 years ago. The hot dog tasted cheap quality hot dog. This food tasted like from my home I can grill on it. With good quality hot dog. Also, the hot dog was smaller this time and cost me over 23 dollars with 7 hot dogs, two chips and two drinks. What can I say but I Love this place. It is my guilty pleasure and dirty secret all at once. I first came here when I was in eighth grade, many moons ago. And I might even consider it for a last meal. Granted from the outside it looks like an over grown fishing shanty. But inside lies hot dog heaven. It is old school at its finest. A place where you get your hot dogs in a cardboard box, people breathing down your neck in line, and the screen door hitting ya in the butt on the way out. Do not expect friendly chatting from the ladies serving the food. You wait in line, money in hand, order on tongue, and out you go. Sometimes I feel the soup Nazi has nothing on these ladies. The dogs are skinny and grilled as well as the roll. The best choice to judge is the traditional BBQ hot dog. They have onions, mustard, and relish also but the trademark is the BBQ sauce. Service is quick and no nonsense. Unless the person in front orders numerous dogs. It happens. I have waited behind people ordering 12 or more, good for "how many can you eat". (My personal best is six) The prices are great and on Wednesday you get an extra dog for free. They usually sell the dogs 3 for $4.25 but Wednesdays are 4 for $4.25. If you don't want a hot dog they have hamburgers. But why would you be here in the first place? There are picnic tables off to the side to eat at in the nice weather. I find that people just eat in their cars. If you are looking to park somewhere else you can drive a little ways up and sit and watch the planes take off from the Worcester airport. Great for a summer night. FYI - If you are going to go on your lunch break on a nice day be prepared to wait in a line.
