Not impressed 1st impressions are important. I wanted to try this place because of recommendations from here. My week is extremely busy the only days I have are the weekends, and those times are filled. I made reservations night before on line for Saturday morning at 900 am. I headed out and at 850 I get a call from them telling me they do not have a open spot come back at 1000. Really? I was just putting on my turn signal to pull in. Ok it happens over booked but if their web is set up to take reservations it should be able to let you know when there is no openings. But ok stuff happens but you are going to call me 10 mins before my appointment? That is rude and does not respect my time. Anyone living very busy life knows how that is messed up. After an OBNOXIOUS $130 for only a color, NOT EVEN A CUT, I am walking away with brassy hair and calico spots. I spent 4 hours here and my hair is NOWHERE near what I asked for, she didn't even finish drying or styling my hair. It was wet and frizzy when I left. I will never come here again. I don't think I've every tried so hard to not burst out crying in public. All I want is my brown hair back, but it will be a long time until I can have the mess she made fixed because I'm afraid for the damage she caused to my hair. DO NOT GO HERE It was my first time and last time coming here. Management refused to help me after my hair was extremely damaged (were going to have me wait a week) and refused to give me a refund. Though my hair was absolutely horrible, I am more upset about how I was treated by management after the fact. March 4th 2:30 Perm Consultation with Stylist I showed her pictures online of how curly I wanted my hair. She stated she was going to bring the roller sizes out for me to look at. I said don't waste your time because I am not a stylist and I do not know what size roller will give the results I wanted and that I want her to decide as this is her area of expertise. March 14th 4:30- Perm There was a woman that was checking in on the process (I later realized she was the owner). After the perm the top of my hair was straight but underneath had a curl. I explained I was not pleased. The owner offered to re-perm my hair which I though was nice that they were willing to make it right. I paid $160 and a tip of $40. When I got home I sent my Aunt (lives in NJ) pictures. She has been a hair stylist for over 40 years. She advised me DO NOT let them perm it again and that I needed to go back there to have them look at it. She stated from the picture it appears over processed, and rolled incorrectly. My scalp felt strange and I felt a sensation at the root of my hair I never felt before. March 15th: At 4:15 I went to the salon. I asked the receptionist to speak with the manager. She stated she was with customer. I saw the owner that was there the night before. We made eye contact then she stepped into the stylist area. The receptionist stated I would have to wait. I waited for 25 minutes. Then I requested to speak to the owner. The receptionist said she not here. I said I saw her when I walked in. She said well she's a new owner. I said I do not know what that has to do with anything. I told the receptionist I can not believe I am being treated this way and lied too (saying the owner wasn't there but she was and made me believe they were lying about the manager as well.) At the same time a stylist entered the reception area and appeared to be checking out a customer. I asked the receptionist to please have the manager call and as a customer the way they are treating me makes me feel as though my business is not valued and they do not care. While I was saying this the stylist was standing next to the receptionist with her finger pressed over her lips and looking directly at me. I later learned that this stylist was the manager. An hour and half later the manager Tori calls me. Me: I am not pleased with how I was treated and it does not make me feel valued as a customer Tori: I am sorry you felt that way. I was with a customer at the time. The owner said that they would re-perm it for you. Me: It does not need to be re-permed. It is extremely damaged We scheduled a appointment for Saturday March 18th for a cut and deep conditioning treatment. During the week, I noticed the front left of my hairline looked as if it was not as full, but thought it was just me. March 17th: By Friday, I had a patch of hair missing. This is where I felt the different sensation with my roots. I started to become very worried because I felt the same sensation (where the hair loss was) in areas all around my scalp. My hair was so dry dead, gross it is so horrible and worried that I was going to have bald spots all over my head. I called the salon, and spoke with Tori Me (in tears) Tori, I am very worried and concerned about my hair I want to come there right now to see if there is something we can do now Tori: Well your appointment is not until tomorrow. Me: My hair's falling out and I have a bald spot in the front of my hairline I feel like this is an emergency and really want someone to look at my hair. Tori: Well the stylist is not here Me: Nevermind about Saturday, It is obvious that this place doesn't care. place doesn't care. No one would even look at my hair Please cancel my about appointment and refund me my money back Tori: Perms do not make your hair fall out and how do we know that your hair was not like that before. We are not refunding your money. Me: You wouldn't even look at my hair how do you know. You were with a customer and would not see me Tori: I did see your hair when I was checking out a customer So she was the stylist with the finger over her mouth and did not take the time to introduce herself and try to help me. I could not believe it. Me: I want a refund. Tori: You picked the rollers and it is not our fault the perm did not take. Me: No I did NOT pick out the roller size , Number one I am not the professional here and I told stylist to pick it out, Number two, it is not the fact the perm did not take, it is the fact that it was done incorrectly, damaged my hair and management (you) are not willing to help me or even look at my hair to advise me how to proper read more

My friend recommended me this place since she said everyone here is good. I really do not want to write a negative review but since I had my hair redone, i need to. Had ... she had only been there 6 weeks, not sure if she has worked elsewhere. She sat me down to have my hair washed and i was not even covered so I got wet. She didn't have my seat lift the feet so my head was up a bit, water was dripping on me. Sat me down then put the cover on me, thank goodness..lol Showed her what i want but got something totally different. I really dislike my haircut so not i'm going elsewhere to have it fixed. This was my third time here less than one week before my vacation. I was not thrilled with my results the previous two times however the location is close to my home and the staff has always been nice. That being said I will drive anywhere else to have my hair done by a professional in the future. What were supposed to be light rose gold highlights turned out orange and there was at least half an inch of root showing from not getting the bleach to my scalp. Absolutely horrific. Thankfully I found a salon and a color specialist to fix my hair. It took her over 3 hours but I am finally looking presentable for my vacation. I emailed management and never received a response. The phone lines were down in the area so I was a little discouraged at first but hey, that's not their fault. I was contacted by email as quickly as I think they could. Staff was friendly and got me an appoint the same day. Amazing. Salon is cute and decorated with fun seasonal garb. My appoint was with Shelby, whom is newer to the salon. Shelby listened to what I wanted, worked quickly, was kind and most importantly great at what she does. Once I got home my boyfriend had to put his hands in my hair and all my coworkers and friend say it looks soft and the color is perfect. Maybe only one downside was I think I spent a little too long in the shampoo bowl because my neck was sore the rest of that night and the next day. I'm sure if I had said anything that wouldn't have been a problem. I would love to see Shelby again. read more

I went today for a cut and dye. It's been over a year since I've had my hair done and it was looking pretty bad. My appointment was with Whitney. She asked what I wanted and we went from there. She listened to what I said and offered me color options and made some suggestions on the cut. I was so happy with the final result I almost cried. I would highly recommend Whitney if you need a change to your hairstyle. Everyone who works there is sweet too, which makes the experience that much better. It's a lovely space and they offer you beverages which is always nice. I have nothing bad to say about this place. read more

Hot Lox Studio & Spa - INCOMPETENCE Exemplified!! You've been warned. I made an appointment online for a haircut and a massage. This appointment was confirmed and I received an email stating as such. I showed up and they seemed confused and had trouble finding me in the system. The receptionist ended up having to go back and get who I suspect is the manager. They said something confusing about the booking going to the wrong place or something. Then they finally told me that they could still get me in (even though I had an email confirmation of my appointment). They didn't have a record of the massage because when I mentioned it they were confused again. The receptionist left me again to go talk with someone. I pulled up the email on my phone showing the haircut and massage confirmed. When I showed it to her, NOW she said that of course it was here in the computer and could I have a seat while they... I don't know what they were doing. Then the receptionist comes back out and tells me that their massage therapist *quit*, so I wouldn't be getting the massage that I had booked and confirmed. I was really wary at this point about this place. The stylist took me back and sat me down, and asked me what we were doing with my hair today. I indicated that it was getting too long and I informed her that I wanted an all over scissor cut. She asked if I'd prefer clippers. If I'd wanted a clipper cut I'd have asked for a clipper cut. I told her I wanted a scissor cut. She asked again if I wouldn't prefer a clipper cut. As if, maybe men were only allowed to get a clipper cut. After telling her 'no' she then turned to the guy next to her (the guy that I suspect is the manager) and started conferring with him! Now, I'm doubting whether this stylist is even capable of giving a scissor cut. Everything about my short visit to this, poor excuse for a salon was bad. While the stylist was conferring with the manager guy about the apparent controversy about me asking for scissors over clippers, I just stood up and took off the apron she'd put on me, and I left. AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL! Salon. I went in a few days ago to get my hair trimmed and to get highlights. Maggie did my hair. She cut over 2" off my hair and completely mutilated it. It was super choppy. Not blended right and looked like someone took a ponytail and cut it off and left it. The color was supposed to be a light Carmel/blonde and it was very orange/red and would fade in random spots from one color to the next. She toned it twice and it was still awful. She tried to dry it and I just finally said stop. I left. I called and asked for a refund so I could go get it fixed at a salon that I trusted and was told I would get a call on Tuesday. If this is not refunded I will open a small claims court case. I went elsewhere and it cost almost $200 just to fix their mess. Plus I paid $130 at Hot Lox. I really don't understand how this salon stays in business if this is the type of service they give. Just awful. Trust me! Make the drive and go to Visible Changes at Stonebriar mall in Frisco. Ask for Lindsey for color and Jenn for cut! You won't regret it! And if you choose to go here anyway because it's convenient like I did...don't say we didn't all try to warn you! I had been a customer at Hot Lox Studio since 2011. Previously, I've always had a good experience and was very pleased with my hair. Apparently this place is under new management. I couldn't make an appointment with any Stylist I was familiar with. I was told they have all left because they ALL no longer do hair anymore.(that is laughable).The salon was filled with flies and dead ones the windowsill. Unfortunately, my hair is going to need to be redone. Highlights are uneven, brassy and orange. There are random spots with large chunky bleached pieces. The hair cut is uneven and not what I asked for. I even showed her several pictures of what I wanted. When I was paying, I asked the receptionist for a cost breakdown of the services done. Had a great experience at this salon, twice now! Once for dry cut and then for color. Jordan was fantastic. She is thorough and listens to what I want for my hair. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law both see Haley, and it was a pleasant surprise to be scheduled with her while booking a last minute appointment last week... before I even knew which stylist they see! While introducing myself, she remembered who they were. You can't ask for a more personalized experience than that! So I've never been into the salon, But Ashley griffin is my stylist and she's amazing. She will actually do what you ask of her and it doesn't matter how long it takes. She actually cares about her clients and their needs. I went to Leigh Jacobs salon in Aubrey Tx which is supposed to be high end, but the entire time the stylist (Shelby) kept saying how she didn't have enough time till her next client, and didn't even do the job that I asked, and charged me double for half the work. BUT ASHLEY WILL CHARGE YOU FAIRLY AND DO AN AMAZING JOB. She worked on my hair for 7 hours straight(if that's not dedication I don't know what is) No complaint what so ever. She is also very sweet and nice to talk to. JUST BECAUSE A SALON CHARGES MORE DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE BETTER. I recommend Ashley to anybody and everyone because she actually cares. DO NOT go here. My initial visit for a partial highlight and cut ended up taking over 3.5 hours and I was originally told it would be $95, when I went to check out it was $120. I had been there from 11 until well after 3:15 so I was starving and late for an event and quickly left. Upon returning home my highlights were bright brassy GOLD not light brown. I contacted the salon and the manager offered to fix it which was very nice. But again my second visit took 2 hours and the toner she had to put on made the highlights dark enough you could barely notice them. AS FOR THE CUT------the first girl that did my hair called another stylist over in the middle of my cut to "help" her. Once she was done she stated she had her "texturize it".....which is the LAST thing someone with thick curly hair needs. Needless to say my hair stays in constant tangles and within a week of going back for toner to be put on my hair it is right back to the brassy highlights. It is bad enough I have had 2 people at work ask me "what happened to your hair?" The owner tries to be nice enough but when I went back to her she stated I should have booked with someone "more experienced".....it was my first visit and I am new to the area how would I know who has experience and who doesn't? All in all it was almost 6 hours and $140 wasted. I am trying to find ways to wear my hair up until this disaster grows out enough I can have another stylist fix it. PLEASE BEWARE!!!!! I got my hair cut here just yesterday. This was my first time here. I was going in for a totally new style, I had a picture of the style. Its not even close to the style of the picture. I was in total shock and could not say anything. The stylist was Haley and I wont go to this place. If I wasn't in such shock I would not have paid for this chop job. She didn't even style it, she left it wet. I think she did that because there was nothing to style because I didn't have enough hair left to style. My hair was past my shoulder in the back.
