I found Scott on Yelp after I moved to the Dallas metro area. He had at least 80 5-star reviews at the time, so I'm not quite sure what's going on with the Yelp site. There are a lot of women who've been to this business and have written great reviews. At any rate, I have thick brunette hair and usually get my greys covered, split ends trimmed, and also do highlights. Every once in a while I'll want to try something a little different....depends on my mood, or if I've seen a great style I like on someone else. Pictures always help when speaking with a hair designer (Scott or otherwise), and he's very good at looking at those with you and translating what you're trying to *say* you want into what you *actually* want. I recommend collecting a few pictures on your phone before your appointment and having them ready to show or text to him to illustrate what you'd like done with your hair. (Hair designers can't see the mental picture we have in our heads, so pictures of what you want will always help them.) He has a cool way of cutting your hair so that it flows and isn't choppy...I've never been to anyone who does it quite like that. He's also helpful at recommending hair products to maintain your style/color, etc. Making appointments is easy, and all handled electronically, including timely reminders. After getting a horrible balayage (if we are even going to call it that) my very brunette hair was an all over brass blonde color. So I returned back home to Scott. Let me start with this - I never write reviews on Yelp, but I had such a great experience with Scott Risk, that I wanted to share it. My hair is pretty curly, but also fine. For the last 10 years I have damaged the crap out of my hair with keratin treatments and flat ironing it. The last time I did a keratin treatment was five years ago, and as a result of the treatment, I suffered hair loss. Since then, I have refused to do a Brazilian blowout or any other treatment for fear that I would lose more. Every time I would visit a salon for a trim, the stylist would ask to do a Brazilian blowout and each time I said no because it caused hair loss. Their response is always "Oh really? I've never heard that." Here is why Scott Risk stands out and why he will be the only stylist to touch my hair: he not only spent an hour discussing options on how to repair my hair (including the Brazilian blowout), but also stated that if the blowout was not done properly, it can cause hair loss. He reassured me that he has never had a client who has suffered hair loss and explained how his method was different. I didn't have to keep my hair slick straight for three days. In fact, he applied the product about 1/4 to 1/2 away from my scalp, blow dried it, ironed it, AND washed it the same day. Finally, we both agreed that I need to stop using a flat iron if there's any chance of my hair getting healthy. Instead of sending me on my way, he actually showed me and allowed me to blow dry sections of my hair so I that I have an idea on how to do it. I truly believe that Scott cares about his clients, and listens to their concerns regarding their hair. He not only know what he's talking about, but he has extensive experience. Scott risk is a creative genius !! I have been living in frisco/plano area for several years . I have never been to the same salon twice, have had an okay to downright "never again" experiences . My search for "the stylist" has ended with Scott Risk. He spent 45 minutes with me discussing my hair...what i wanted and how to best get those results. We discussed color, what i did NOT want and i left the rest to him. He kept the long length of my hair and gave me beautiful layers to frame my face. The cut gave more volume and movement to my hair. Expect to pay 350+ because it's 100+ an hour but why does he always have two client's simultaneously when that creates a longer appointment for you- therefore a more expensive visit! I came in for an all over color and it took almost 4 hrs! I came out with super dark hair, which was the opposite of what I verbally requested. Don't ask for a swatch Bc that will tick him off and he will snap at you telling you that what you pick won't be realistic. Well without a swatch how can you tell someone what youre looking for? I walked out paying $350+ for an all over color that was black, but then again my highlights weren't covered and I had brassy spots all over. Also, he will never cover grays so you pay a lot of money and then pay more to get that covered. I had a course line that showed the new color and my roots. I don't know if it's his assistant that isn't trained or his quality is just terrible. There are better places out there. Go find someone else. read more

But you should have taken time to finish the work that you started. Or at least have a conversation with me asking if I was ok if your assistant did the blow dry since you had a mix up in your scheduling. Nothing of that sort. Your other client went to nail salon for waiting. You texted her and brought her back before you could finish my work. Neither my fault nor your other client's fault. You wanted to close the day soon. So when your assistant started prepping, all I did was to ask her if you are not going to do the blowdry. She said she will be doing that with a question "do you mind?". I said yes. I do mind. That's it. I did not yank my head away. You can't say things that didn't happen. Then you got all upset and moved so fast making all the noise, dragging my chair while I was sitting on it to make space. Your other client couldn't handle it and she stepped out from the main chair. It got so uncomfortable for me and I wanted to walk away with half finished work. You never once said sorry for that. Simple. Treat everyone the same way. If you are delegating blow dry to your assistant, fine. Do that for every single client. Not just when you feel like working on other client or when you run out of time due to overbooking. Not fair for the customers. Regarding cancellation: I don't think you wanted me to come back. When I texted you asking for the packs( which I didn't know was complimentary. Thanks!!!) and appt. You texted back saying you will call me to schedule. You didn't call me for few days. I stopped by at your store. If you don't want to book me, you could have said so. Just being afraid of negative review, you can't give run arounds, accept and then trying different ways to avoid the appt. If I misinterpreted/misunderstood, I don't have a problem saying sorry here. Can you confirm here 100% that your assistant will be doing blowouts for all clients and not just randomly for few clients depending on your work load? The service should be the same for every single customer. I don't want to be there waiting anxiously not knowing if you will be working or your assistant will be. Fact: your assistant did the coloring for me on one of the previous visit. I didn't say anything at that time. Your assistant did partial blowdry on one of the previous visits.
