I'm so thankful that during the age of covid, my husband was still able to come with me to this appointment, as it's a big deal! During the 20 week ultrasound, you get to see the baby in so much detail! It's really amazing, but nerve racking because the purpose of the appointment is to check for abnormalities. We waited a good while to see the ultrasound tech, which is the reason for deducting a star. It was about 45 minutes. While they did have the door open into the hallway for air flow, there was no outside air coming in or real way to social distance in the waiting room. I really wish they had had a system in place where people could wait in various areas and then be buzzed in or called when it was their time to be seen. Reason why the 2nd star was deducted. The actual ultrasound room was very nice. The bed was comfy with a nice, large tv to see the baby, and overall it was comfortable. The first tech came in to do the ultrasound and she was not too chatty, but very nice and answered questions. I understand the actual tech isn't able to give you information while you're getting the ultrasound. They send the results to the doctor and then the doctor comes in to talk to you about what they found, if anything. One thing to note - the ultrasound gel was warm! Loved that they use warmers for that... it really elevated the experience. I was seen by a doctor who was amazing! She had lovely bedside manner, was very upbeat, and positive. Thankfully, everything with my baby looked perfect. She was able to get her to turn so we could see her cute little face which totally made my day. I'm so grateful that I got a good report and therefore don't have to come back, but I would recommend it to others, specifically to see the doctor that I saw, which I will add to this review in an update when I figure out what her name was *pregnancy brain*.

Before I had my baby she recommended some resources which I have since gifted to expecting moms because they were so good and helpful. I think the biggest thing Hannah provided was confidence with breastfeeding, sleep and night and naps and created a no judgement zone but respected what was important to me and I think helped my husband and I get on the same page in regards to different ideals that I had. In my opinion working with Hannah as your postpartum doula is one of the best decisions you can make for your postpartum self and family!

With my first, despite support from grandparents and my husband, my self-care was pretty lacking. I muddled through but once I came out the other side and really understood what the fourth trimester was like, I promised myself that next time I'd do things differently. Hannah's time with me was the push I needed to actually do those self-care things. She helped me prepare baths and steams, brought me teas and infusions, was my partner in stretching and yoga, and went on slow healing walks with me. When mastitis struck in the third week, Hannah was there with advice, support, and remedies. With her help, I was able to reverse the infection quickly. While I was a second time mom, Hannah still introduced me to many new forms of postnatal care and was a wonderful sounding board and source of wisdom. In addition to being knowledgeable, punctual, and proactive, Hannah is warm, understanding, and good-humored. I thoroughly enjoyed having her in my home and looked forward to her help each week. I wholeheartedly recommend her as a postpartum doula.

In the last two years, I've bounced from office to office, trying to find a place for routine care where I felt at peace and at home. The difference in care that you receive from midwifery practice vs regular OBGYN is astounding. I already knew that from my past experience, but today's appointment with Adrianna from River City Midwifery sealed the deal. I was warmly greeted as soon as I got out of the car by Adrianna. She took my appointment outside on a patio underneath twinkling lights. I was already at home. We had a conversation about what has been going on with me since I gave birth a little over two years ago. When people say babies change everything about your body, they're not lying. I've been struggling ever since and haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what was going on with me. I walked Adrianna through my whole journey up to today. She listened, took notes, and empathized. When I told her I'd done my own research, she didn't scoff or judge or make passive aggressive comments about Googling. She commended me for doing what I'd done up to that point and agreed with the tests that I thought I needed. Let me say that again. She agreed with the tests that I thought I needed. I have asked multiple doctors to test me for certain things and have been met with excuses or been flat out told no. I felt instantly advocated for and taken care of in that moment. After we finished talking, she brought me inside and drew my blood herself for labs. She allowed me to lay down and calmly talked me through the process, as I'm squeamish with blood draws. Afterward, she gave me a quick tour of the birth center. It was magical, cozy, comfy, and everything any woman would want while giving birth. I've already made the decision to stay with River City Midwifery for well woman care and any future babies that I am blessed with. So thankful for them!

Third time to leave a review since my Google reviews keep mysteriously disappearing…read more It's difficult to write this review because our actual birth with the team here was amazing and everything we wanted it to be. However, the care, or rather lack thereof, that my wife and I received outside of the actual birth needs to be shared so it doesn't happen to someone else. In our prenatal visits we let it be known multiple times that we did not want to know the sex of our baby until birth. During one of our appointments one of the midwives used she/her pronouns when referring to our baby...part way through I said "wait is that the sex of the baby? we said we didn't want to know that"...the midwife quickly backpedaled and said "oh I didn't realize I had done that, I use different pronouns interchangeably when people don't want to know the sex". Needless to say we had a girl, and given what happened with our post natal care we are pretty certain this midwife slipped and revealed that information to us. Again, our actual labor experience with River City Midwifery went beautifully however the postpartum care was a bit troubling. During one postpartum visit I felt shamed by a midwife for using a nipple shield to nurse my baby, which was recommended by our pediatrician and was the only way my baby could latch. My 6 week follow up appointment seemed to fall through the cracks. I was never seen which was a big miss given I hemorrhaged during birth and was having postpartum anxiety (which was expressed to the midwives). Our baby was hospitalized when she was 3 1/2 months, the midwives knew about this (as they stated in an email "through the grapevine", which feels incredibly gossipy and hurtful) and did not reach out to check on us. Still to this day our baby has health issues and no one from River City Midwifery has reached out. We reached out via email after our baby was discharged from her 11 day hospital stay to share with the midwives what was going on with her and to express concern that I never had a follow up visit with them which is when they replied saying they had heard she was hospitalized and didn't think it was appropriate to reach out. They also put the blame for not having a follow up visit on us saying we never scheduled one. This is something they should have been on top of, new parents or even one's with children already and have a newborn really shouldn't be responsible for this, they already have enough on their plate and it was included as part of the birth package we purchased. Furthermore when we responded back to them and stated that we felt abandoned and would possibly be seeking follow up care elsewhere, they said nothing, and did not take any opportunity to even try to make things right. After posting a Google Review in September, it suddenly went missing. Reposted the exact same review in November and was deleted again. Big red flags. At the end of the day, we feel we were patient dumped and my wife and I are still processing how this happened. We clearly were under the wrong impression of the care we expected to receive - it shouldn't have dropped once our baby was born. This was the biggest moment of our lives and to walk away feeling abandoned has been immensely painful. It is a big deal. To anyone who may be considering this care provider, please remember to advocate for your health and if something feels off, trust it, this is not the place we thought we'd feel dismissed. Hoping there are improvements to the care future clients/babies/families receive here.
