Dr. Lanni was compassionate but no nonsense. She talked to me about my baby's 50/50 chance of having a major issue or being fine. She was with me every step of the way, did my amnio, tons of ultrasounds, answered questions any time I had them, and thank God my baby's hygroma resolved at 20 weeks and today I have a perfectly healthy 1 month old baby girl. Without Dr. Lanni, her excellent nurse Karen and kind, compassionate office staff who always remembered me when I came, I think I may have lost it during this stressful pregnancy. She made what was a stressful time easier to bear, and she is top notch in her expertise and knowledge of maternal and fetal medicine. HIGHLY RECC Dr Lanni!! I drove from southside to see her @ MCV, she's that good. Her OB appts are only on Tuesdays because she has other duties on other days (she is also head of 2 depts at MCV and lectures).

Plus, it is a great opportunity to get feedback on posture and movement "in real life" like bending over the baby crib or carrying baby. What a difference it has made! The other thing that I really appreciate is she is so understanding of motherhood and life and there is no judgement when I can't do my exercises between sessions. It is so nice to feel supported.

They offered solutions and prompt responses via email and guided us on how we can help me at home. Separation anxiety is not only challenging for the child but, IMO also for parents esp. moms, or whoever spends the most time with the child. In this case it was me, and I def. learned a lot in terms of how to help him during those transitional phases although they were hard for me but Becca and Courtney's guidance put me to ease and helped us incredibly! This is something I've never had to worry about with Emily (OT) and Ginger (Speech) at Southeastern Therapy for Kids (Near West End location). I have taken my 3 y/o son here for the last month or so and couldn't be more impressed. My son started seeing Emily for OT and is already making process with sensory-related tasks/eating. It's been incredible to be able to see changes already. In addition, my son recently started with Ginger to help further his progress in oral muscle development and speech. I have no doubt about the progress we will soon be seeing from his work with Ginger as well. What makes Southeastern Therapy for Kids even better is that not only do I love them, so do my kids. Both Emily and Ginger are kind, FUN, and know how to quickly build a rapport with a child. I've had my son come out of sessions with Emily in which she's got him to engage in different foods by utilizing play. She's even let him paint her face with yogurt. Just today, Ginger brought a speaker out into the waiting room to have a Baby Shark dance party...not just for my kids but for her and anyone else that will join in. They include my son's twin sister in sessions often, which is so incredibly thoughtful on their part because at three years old, it's hard to explain why her twin brother gets to go "play" while she stays with mom. Emily and Ginger work together and complement each other the way any team should. They work to meet any needs or concerns you may have and truly treat you like family. The staff who I've encountered have been pleasant and super helpful. They even reached out to my old doctor and hospital in Washington state to get all of my records as this facility does not use epic (mychart). I saw Dr. Cassidy today and she was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to get to know me and listened to any and all concerns I had. She has a great bedside manner and thoroughly explained what she was doing. While no one really likes the annual exam process, she made me feel very comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Cassidy and the team at Virginia Women's center.

I first saw Dr. Lisa when I was late in my pregnancy with my son. We had a wonderful visit and she really helped me feel much better and relieve some of the aches and pains of late pregnancy. She noticed something about how engaged my muscles were and she noted that she didn't think I would make it to my due date. She was right! In fact, I went into labor just a few days later at 37 weeks and 3 days. I only had 3 hours of contractions and a smooth delivery. I'm not saying getting adjusted by Dr. Lisa was the reason for that, but I'm not NOT saying it either. I'm sure it played a role, even a small one!, in my smooth first time mom labor. Anyway, here we are and i'm a little over halfway through my 2nd pregnancy. I've already started having some of the aches and pains so I decided to get in to see Dr. Lisa this week. She was just as peppy, bubbly, warm, and talkative as I remembered and I was flattered that she actually recognized my name even though we only saw each other one time! She watched me do a couple of things and then got to work. I'm telling you... she cracked the heck out of my neck. Seriously, getting adjusted doesn't hurt at all, but I was surprised by how many loud pops came out of my neck! She also massaged my lower belly and adjusted my spine. Babyyyyyyy, when I walked out of that office, I felt like I could fly. I literally felt so much lighter and limber than I did when I walked in. I felt so good, I texted my friends about it from the car, encouraging them to see a chiropractor as a necessity since we're closing in on 30, lol. Can't wait for my appointment next week!

I have been so impressed with the care that I've received here that I referred at least 3 other people. My first appointment was an external exam, then for my second appointment they did an internal exam. I learned so much about my post birth body in those two appointments and I was excited to keep up the momentum by committing to a 6-8 week plan. If you have to bring your baby with you... good news! The receptionists are great baby holders or you can have the baby in the room with you. I think it's a great thing to do for yourself after you go through such a traumatic event. If you just had a baby or are about to have one, make sure to include this in your post baby plans!

Due to a severe pubic synthesis diastasis plus a diastasis recti (ab wall separation) it took me several weeks post delivery before I could even lift my legs to walk up stairs again. I have always been active and athletic so I pushed myself as soon as possible after my son was born to begin exercising again. Within 3 years I was even back to playing sports but was surprised to still have some lingering issues, including pain. Dr. Ashleigh was amazing to work with - very personable, supportive and professional. She helped by giving me targeted exercises to further strengthen my postnatal body and reach my goals. I am a licensed massage therapist and I can't recommend Women's Health PT enough to my prenatal/postnatal clients.

I wanna say if not a year or more and I won't say this has been building up, but I The final straw. This gynecologist normally she is similar to a roadrunner. She talks really really fast and she talks over you and you will have to let her know that she is doing it because sometimes it seems as though she is not acknowledging it or she's just in her train of thought so that kind of ticked me off when I first initially met her but ultimately This is the reason why I'm leaving this practice. I chose to share my story simply because I want minorities women of color and just women overall truthfully to make sure you're very conscious about what your physicians are saying to you or at you rather and pay attention to the signs. For some background, I am a woman that has been experiencing pain in my lower abdomen and back, experiencing ovarian cyst, some filled with blood, and some filled with fluid. Due to This constant issue there have beenan untold number of times I've been in pain in reference to gynecological issues, unsure if it is endometriosis ,pcos etc. But the doctor listed above stated that there is no way for her to figure out if it is endometriosis or just PCOS or if it if I just have adrenal cyst, the only solution that she offered me was to get on the IUD specifically morena. Now this is not been the only time that she has recommended using an IUD as it would best work with the medication's that I'm also currently on to handle other matters, but I was cautious about it due to the fact that my body seems to be one of those types of bodies that experiences the horrible side effects and if not most things don't work for me. So today when I knew she would probably re-approach it as I'm going in for probably the 15th vaginal ultrasound in her not seeing anything or her seeing too small assist for them to do anything about it XYNZ she goes about this the topic of choosing an IUD and so this time I indulge her and I ask more about it and I asked what her knowledge is about it in reference to me being an African-American female. What I thought was going to be an intellectual in-depth discussion and I was going to gain further knowledge from speaking with her mind you yes for a side note she is a Caucasian lady, but has treated me decently so I thought we were above what I just experienced. during this conversation, she is the type to cut you off if she has something to say and whatever and partially, I didn't mind it due to the fact that I can be like that too when I either don't take my medications or I'm stemming really bad at that current point in time but during this conversation, she obviously saw that I was .trying to make a very conscious decision about putting something inside of my body that I don't really have much faith in and you seem to only be able to do just that one thing to help subside the symptoms so yes, I'm going to ask more questions. so what should've been a conversation of gaining more knowledge so that I can make a better decision for myself. She goes on to say oh I'm not sure about the recent studies in it. It's been around for 40 years and it's been proven to be very effective and I'm asking her I said OK but what is the real statistics on African-American females at my age or maybe slightly older or even younger? Who get this IUD and what kind of problems do they have if they have symptoms like mine? She then proceeds to tell me that she doesn't know. She just knows that it's been around for about 40 years and so on and so forth and I said well that's not very comforting for me to even consider putting it inside of my body because I would think that you would keep up with the statistics for African-American females, and apparently that set her off. She felt insulted that I insulted her intelligence, and I questioned her as a doctor not that I stood up for myself, and I was trying to understand exactly what she was trying to get me to understand, but she felt undermined essentially. so when I was trying to continue the conversation, she kept trying to cut me off. She got up and she basically stormed out of the room because I said "wow that's rude of you to just walk off while we're talking " she responds : no, what's rude of you is to question and question my education and what I actually look at and things like that.
