Jerry helped me a number of weeks ago with a piercing that has tried to grow in. After following owner Tim's advice, I went to his location on the SS after work. Friendly, clean, and fantastic product selection. I am conservative for the most part. I have pierced ears and nostril and I love both to look elegant. I won't go anywhere else now. Not even for jewelry. They carry high end, hypoallergenic stock. I felt like I was in a medical exam room when I went back for the fix on my nostril; sterile and clean. Jerry put a different type of post that prevents piercings coming out. Can't remember the name, but ask him. Jerry and the other fella there both helped me get exactly what I needed and explained everything to me. Great details on aftercare. Kindness was lovely. I highly recommend this Hotrod Piercing. BEYOND impressed with this place. My fiancé and I came into the shop, and I got my bridge done, and my fiancé got his nostril done. Sam and Jerry really know their stuff, and I was very comfortable from when I first set foot into the shop all the way to when I left. I will be coming here from now on. Out of all 14 piercings on my face, my bridge piercing which is now number 15, is the most well done piercing I've ever had done. The staff here was SO amazing and understanding of my concerns. I had had my ears pierced when I was a kid and they had gotten infected, leaving a cyst in my ear. I was concerned about how that would affect getting my ear lobes repierced. They explained every step of the procedure and took extra care to make sure they were even- even gave me Gatorade when I was feeling sick! I had a wonderful experience at Hot Rod today. The store is very clean and relaxing and the staff are very helpful and personable. They give very detailed instructions on how to care for the piercings and explain many scenarios of what to do if you run into a problem. My piercer's name was Jerry. He was very knowledgable and professional. He talked me through every step of the process, no surprises or accidents. He was a wizard too, he almost read my mind on exactly where I wanted my two piercings in my right cartilage. I was also incredibly surprised at how little pain I felt. It was over before I could even exhale and all of my anxiety about the pain flew out the window. best place for piercings!! Everyone here is amazing. Sam did my helix piercing and was super thorough on what I should expect, the process, and aftercare. They weren't trying to rush me out of there, which I appreciated. When I was nervous about a potential infection I stopped by and they reassured me the healing process was going well and there was nothing worrying. Some friends and I from out of town decided to get piercings. The team was very helpful and advised me on which jewelry was best for the piercing and showed the entire sterilization process to me. I went in the other day for a nose piercing. Both Jerry and the employee working the front of the store were extremely helpful and informative throughout the entire process. The employee at the front told me the pros and cons of all the types of jewelry and was patient while I chose. Jerry was just as helpful and explained the entire process to me as he worked, and even showed me what a ring would look like since on the was on the fence about a ring or a stud. He was super friendly and made the process a lot less stressful. They even gave me some salt to start off with for the cleansing process. I went there to get a piercing changed: my old ring fell out and i needed a new one. I thought that it was great until I got back to my hometown Chicago, and a week later my belly button ring was pussing. I thought, ok, an infection I can deal with that. but no, it turns out that the only thing that was wrong with my piercing is that the barbell they used was WAY TOO SHORT. i had to pay for a new one, the other one is useless AND now i have to take crazy care of my ring for like 3 weeks because it's so irritated that it got gross. Even if I lived in Pittsburgh I wouldn't go back there, and I would not give it any stars if I could. read more

One of the only APP certified piercing parlors in the city, and they use exclusively Anatometal jewelry (that means implant grade steel and titanium). There is absolutely no reason to go anywhere else when Hot Rod is available! I have had my Christina pierced here and my tongue web, and both experiences were excellent. I love these guys--sweet, friendly, and they know their stuff about both piercings and stretching piercings, which is rare among pro piercers! I'd give them six stars if I could. read more

Seems like it's hit or miss with this place, judging by the previous reviews. But my experience was a good one here. I came in to get an impromptu nostril piercing. I don't know too much about piercings, so the staff was not only extremely friendly but also very knowledgable. I was pierced by Jerry, and he did a great job at calming my nerves, as this was my first non-ear piercing and I was very nervous. It ended up not hurting at all, and there has been minimal soreness thus far. I'm so pleased with how my piercing turned out. They told me to come back in if I had any problems, and when I said I was just in visiting from Michigan, they even recommended a few places in my area. This place was so good. I went in to get my nose pierced and they made it such an easy and quick process. First of all, the shop is really nice. It didn't look sketchy like many other piercing places. It looked clean and professional and right off the bat I felt very comfortable getting a piercing there. The guys that were working there were super cool and approachable. My piercing looks excellent and it's exactly what I wanted. It was done by William and he's awesome!! This shop was recommended to me by multiple people, including my partner, who had great experiences there. I waited briefly outside, as the doors are locked between appointments for COVID safety. I was really impressed with how safe I felt at Hot Rod; when I was let in, I had my temperature taken and was offered hand sanitizer. Everyone I encountered had such great energy and was super friendly. I ended up getting my septum pierced by William, who was very accommodating and friendly. I was nervous because I've had bad piercing experiences previously, and sometimes pass out. I was pierced lying down--this was the default position, even before I explained my condition--and William explained everything about the piercing process clearly as he went along. The piercing was minimally painful and very quick; it was very evident that these people know what they're doing and are highly skilled, dedicated piercers. They have tons of jewelry options, and the prices are 100% reasonable for a really well-done piercing in a comfortable atmosphere. I went in last night per recommendation from a few friends and was extremely happy with my piercer and staff overall. Sam did a septum piercing for me and was so nice and informative. The shop was clean and well maintained. They were stuck there after 9 to accommodate me and I felt as if he didn't rush when he very well could have. The pricing is good. I have to say that hot rod is the best piercing place I have ever experienced! The staff are extremely knowledgable, friendly, and make getting a piercing there an easy fast quick painless process!
