My go to spot was closed in this same strip mall, so I decided to try Hot Spice Thai and I was not disappointed. Walked and was seated promptly, the host came with the menu soon after and water. They have a lunch special that is 12.99; everything from fried rice, Pad Thai, pad see Euw, Red and yellow curries. You also get 2 spring rolls or bow of soup and a canned soda or unsweetened ice tea. Spring rolls came fresh out of the oil, crispy, well filed and tasted good. I love the sweet sauce that came with it. Got my chicken pad Thai spicy and it was out in 5 minutes; I could hear the wok banging as the chef cranked out dish after dish. It wasn't too busy and I honestly don't know why. This isn't a lunch portion, it's a proper meal; enough for 2 sittings if you want. They also had the largest chicken to noodle ratio I have seen in any Thai shop. If it was for the low traffic shopping center they'd have much busier lunch. I'm definitely going back read more

Stopped by at night after a random craving for Thai food. It's a cozy little spot and wasn't busy at all, just a few people picking up to go orders while we were there. I ordered the Beef Basil Fried Rice, and my boyfriend got the Chicken Thai Fried Rice. My spice level was 2 and his was 4, but neither of us really felt any heat. I have a mild spice tolerance, and even then it wasn't spicy at all. The chili oil was really good and added a nice kick. The server was super nice and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. After months or maybe years of having subpar Thai food we finally found our new spot: Hot Spice Thai Cuisine! We ordered to-go and the food is amazing. I ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken and it was perfectly seasoned, perfectly moist (not dried out but also not drowning in sauce), the chicken is thin & tender (no fat or gristle), and the dish is served with a thick juicy lime wedge that actually produces lime juice lol. I had them add a fried egg on top and that was a nice touch. Hubby ordered Sweet & Sour Stir-fry with Chicken and white rice. He loved it. We also had an order of Veggie Spring Rolls and they were fantastic. The duck sauce is spiked with a hint of spice, which was perfect because we forgot to order mustard sauce. Didn't need it! According to recent Yelp! reviews, this place is recently under new management as of the past few months. I have no idea how their food was before but I can highly recommend them now. My parents had highly recommended this spot so we decided to come here for dinner. Started off with spring rolls and chicken satay. The spring rolls were crispy and we loved the dipping sauce. The satay was cooked well but not much flavor - definitely enjoyed the peanut sauce but it wasn't as saucy as I usually had. Tried the pad kee mow and added chicken and tofu - best I've ever had. The restaurant looked and smelled amazing and was very clean! They had a lunch special that was such a good deal. The egg rolls for the appetizers were our favorite. It came with a drink choices and we ended up choosing Pad see ew and the yellow curry & rice. They were both delicious but the yellow curry was our favorite! When I first walked in the door of Hot Spice and saw the photo of the monk with the elephant on the wall and smelled the gingery incense, I knew this place would be total greatness. We ordered fresh rolls, tom kha gai, and pad see ew. The food here is amazing, and so is the service! The tom kha gai had HUGE slices of chicken and was quite delicious. The spice level of our pad see ew was perfect, and the fresh rolls were nicely overstuffed and fresh tasting. And the server was incredibly nice and very helpful. I went up to the counter for pick up and the male look into the kitchen and told them to start the order ... Chicken satee was okay, not really bite size finger food but I was not impressed at all with the tofu spring rolls. They were so small and 95% lettuce. The tofu piece was the smallest strip of tofu and mind you only one piece of tofu per half. The lettuce was very crunchy but had a very sour taste. read more

Yummy local spot thats perfect for a quick thai eat. We're pretty basic, I usually get the tofu pad thai at a level 3 and my husband enjoys the drunken noodles with chicken. Their mango sticky rice is delicious! We have always gotten this to go and have never had any issues with substitutions or with condiments. Love the consistent service. read more

Apparently, it is the sister restaurant to Sakhuu Thai, which has several locations and is well-known, but for legal reasons they are not able to use that name in this location. It would be a great date-night spot as well, since it's dimly lit with cute little lamps on each table. It's tucked away in a strip mall, so it's easy to miss. I've tried the pad Thai, Tom Kha soup, mango sticky rice, pad see ew, and today tried the massaman curry...all were with MEDIUM spice (perfectly spiced...not weak and not overpowering). They're so attentive, owner/chef really tries his best to accommodate and really showed how appreciative he was for us stopping by during this cold front weather - ambiance - pretty chill and warm vibes. Food review: I am not going to compare it to LA Thai cuisine.... But here's an in depth of my experience: - Tom kha - wooowwza! Love how tangy it is compared to other Tom kha's I've had. Not super coconut-y, but love the tartness. Would have this again with chicken, tofu, or shrimp! - Thai fried rice - if you like your rice a bit mushy (easier to swallow), this is perfect! I personally like rice that is not super mushy, but the flavor of this actually was so good that I forgot if the rice was mushy or not while eating it. Order this with shrimp or tofu! - pad see ew - I felt like something was missing. But generous portions! I would opt for drunken noodle or pad thai next time. Get this with beef or shrimp. - massaman curry - mild is a bit spicy. Had more of that... stale peanut after taste that didn't taste like other massaman curries I've had. I think I would pass on this next time and opt for a green or yellow curry with chicken or tofu. Overall, pretty decent food for the first week of new management. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite Thai spots in Valley Ranch! I feel like I stumbled upon a gem of some sorts. That's right I said "gem". So cliché but it truly fits what I am trying to convey! The ingredients are all so super fresh, food comes out steaming hot and portion sizes are perfect. I typically get the pad woon sen (no bean sprouts no tomatoes) and order it medium or mild with a side of the chili sauce. Phenomenal! Do yourself a favor and get the crab rolls as well they will rock your world. I always have food left over the next day so price wise this absolutely fits the bill. The ambience inside is nice if you want a quiet space to eat your meal solo or a laid back date. Service is always wonderful, very warm and kind people work here. So very good! I ordered this to go with a couple of friends. I got the Pad See Ew and a Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. My friends got Corn Patties, Pad Thai, and Red Curry. The Pad See Ew was pretty good, and the mango sticky rice was simply delicious . I also tried half a corn patty and it was actually quite good! I didn't even know they were a thing before. Update: Still open for takeout as of 3/25/20. My fiancé and I were craving Thai food and headed to Chilli Thai after reading the great reviews! We came on a Friday night and got one of the last few parking spots as there are quite a few great eateries in the shopping center. Luckily, Chilli Thai was only about a third full so we were seated immediately. My fiancé ordered the Thai fried rice and I ordered the Panang Curry with fried tofu. You can either get soft tofu or fried/breaded tofu in your curry! I chose the fried tofu and loved how it absorbed the flavor of the curry. Both menu items were the perfect amount of food and we were very happy with our meal. I have also had the Ka Prow with munched chicken and it was delicious! They have both lunch and dinner portions and prices, so I'll have to come by and try that read more

OMG! Have I found my new favorite Thai dish? After shopping, shopping, shopping, Glenda finally said its time for food. Chilli is the closest Thai food restaurant. Seated quickly and ice tea headed our way. Glenda gets the usual chicken fried rice. Don't try something new. We must...remain...normal. I'm searching the menu for that dish I just HAVE to try! Chilli Thai Volcano. Whaaaat? Found it! Like no other Thai food I have had. So, you've had turkey and dressing. Imagine Thai flavored dressing. Take a bunch of seafood, throw in some veggies, and mix it all up in the dressing. Wrap it in aluminum foil and steam it till it's hot and moist. Delicious! I couldn't stop, no leftovers today! My rating is closer to a 3.5 . This place was good, I would have given it a solid 4 star if it wasn't for a few things that knocked down my rating. Let's start with apps... chicken satay and crispy vegetable spring rolls. Biggest issue is they are overpriced! Chicken satay was very dry and for almost $7, I expected larger pieces of chicken (shared photo only shows 2 but it comes with 4 pieces). Also, peanut sauce is too thick; almost like it was a spoon full of peanut butter diluted with a bit of water. Spring rolls were very crispy, which is great! However they are too small that it's mostly just crispy wrapper and not enough filling. Now the entrees... They were very good!! Both were a 3 spicy (out of 5), which was perfect for the pad Thai but not enough heat for the Chilli Thai Spicy. I recommend going to at least a 4 on the Chili Thai spicy. Pretty solid place for Thai food in and about the Valley Ranch area in Irving. I've had their food on multiple occasions, and I have to say most of the dishes and experiences I've had were good. I recommend their Curry fried rice; I've tried this version and the Thai fried rice and the former definitely comes packed with more flavor and plenty of texture with the crunchy white onions and scallions. Their entrees come with a tom kha soup and spring roll. I love the tom kha soup here, slight kick and the coconut flavor really shines through. In terms of heat level, their higher numbers are definitely NOT going to blow your head off (and when it comes to heat, I'm relatively a wimp), so you can be a little more adventurous. The only disappointment was the one time I tried the chicken satay, which is a staple of any Thai restaurant, which I felt was a little anemic and bland. Although the chicken in itself was moist, it could have benefited from a bit of a char to impart flavor on the occasion that I dined there. Their service is top notch - the servers are very friendly, attentive and the food comes out quick. The restaurant in itself is not very expansive in terms of number of tables, so it can get filled up at peak lunch hours on weekdays - lots of offices close by, so obviously. Pad Thai, drunken noodles, tom kha with noodles have all been amazing. The not so good: - service is a hit or miss The first time we were here, the food was out quick as they weren't busy but our server did not have a single smile to spare. The second time around, we had a friendly server but they were busy and it looked like the kitchen had a hard time keeping up. One entree arrived 10 minutes after the other. My husband and I shared it so it didn't cause us a problem, but if that wasn't the case one of us would have had to wait without food for a really long time. Also, they completely forgot about our appetizer. We had to remind them about it and it arrived after both our entrees. - we asked for medium spice level both times but on our second visit food was spicier than the first. - the vegetable dumplings have a green tea flavored wrapping and tastes only like green tea but a flavor so prominent isn't mentioned on the menu.
