This restaurant is a well oiled machine! The ladies at the counter were filling so many to go orders, it was mind blowing. They were busy, yet very friendly and efficient. You place your order on a electronic tablet. We ordered the Sizzling Lau Sausage, Crispy Zaap Wings, Pad Kee Mao and the Mango Sticky Rice. We ordered all of our items to go. When I took our items out of our bags when we got back, I was amazed at the portion size of the Pad Kee Mao because the weight of the container was SUBSTANTIALLLLLL!!!!! All of our items were out of this world fantastic but I have to give a big ole shout out for that MANGO STICKY RICE! This was first time to have it and my husband and I both enjoyed. I appreciated the variety of Thai and Lao items on their menu and would like to come back and try some other things. They had a lot of customers coming in and out with to go orders. You can tell this is very popular for lunch for folks who work in the area. I can understand why. All of the food is so fresh and piping hot. Oh and the chalkboard art is MAGNIFICENT!!!! It's Thai fast food. Since most Thai restaurants are usually reasonably priced, I didn't find this place, while most of their items are inexpensive, to be that great of a deal. The papaya salad came with big chunks of cabbage and marinated green papaya. The Lao sausage was good and the garlic riblets were okay. I went here to grab a quick lunch. The front of the restaurant looked nice and was decorated well. I ordered quickly and the lady at the front was friendly. While I waited I went to the restroom. In order to get to the restroom I had to go through an obstacle course of boxes piled waist high in random places. Once in the restroom I was taken back by all the signage that stated you need to clean the toilet after usage with several cleaning products sitting out. My first time trying a Thai/Laos restaurant. These wings... so good ! Like it's kind of ridiculous. They're good by themselves but with the Jeow Som, takes them to a whole different level. I also ordered pork pad thai with a spice level 2, Im not a spice lover but I like a little kick and there was no spice at all, so go to a level 3 if you want a bit of a kick. Only minor disappointment was that I ordered it hot and it was pretty mild but still was excellent and I just added my own chili. I tried the Lao sausage which was different and interesting. I finally came by after one of my favorite Yelpers gave it raving reviews. I am glad that I did. I think this is the best Thai spot on MacArthur Blvd. We had the Tom Yum Soup, Pad Thai, Basil Fried Rice, and Green Curry. We had level 4 out 5 spice level but it was plenty hot. I have been here several times and it is always great! The Crispy Rice Salad is super tasty with strong flavors and the variety of textures puts it over the top. The Pad Se Ew is also consistently excellent with large noodles and it is well seasoned and just the right heat. Toilet paper on the floor after being used. Main area had food all over the floor from previous customers. Tables were sticky and the area to the bathroom needs to be organized. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Zaap has a very functional fast casual design. It's bright, open, and clean. There's a path on the left which will take you to the counter to order, and there are several small tables. Nothing super exciting, but extremely functional. Normally I would only give 1/2 a star but the food is legit so they get a bump. 1 Star. Service - I think Zaap is a Las Colinas lunch spot (busy during the week), because on my Sunday lunch visit, the person who took my order was about 10-years old. The cute little boy had nice manners, repeated my order, and upon taking my order, he joined his little sister in an empty booth to play games with her. Soon, our food was brought to our table (by adults). Overall the service is good, but I was a little uncomfortable interacting with a little boy taking my order. 1 Star. It tasted more like Indian curry, so I'm not sure what spices it had. The fresh roll was full of rice and bland. Solid choice for a fast, quality, casual, and fairly authentic Thai. What stood out to me about this place is their use of fresh and quality vegetables that are cooked perfectly, just firm enough for a good chew. The ratio of carbs to other ingredients like meat and vegetables were perfectly balanced. Despite the location and the modern look of this place, they carry authentic items on their menu as well. Although I did find their red curry to be too sweet for my liking, the other items on their menu such as fried rice and noodles are not overly sweet to cater to the Western customers. I was especially impressed with their Pineapple Fried Rice. There were ample chunks of grilled pineapple and the rice had great savory taste with a hint of fish sauce taste, which I found pleasant. All the ingredients and flavors were very nicely stir fried and rested together. I think Zaap Kitchen is a great establishment with amazing value for the price, which explains why they have been expanding fast throughout DFW. I have also heard that their curry fried rice is excellent, which I cannot wait to try! I'm a fan of Zaap. I've been a long time customer of their Dallas location. Being that I live in Irving, I was happy to know they opened one in Irving. The Irving location always forgets to add eggs to the dishes that say they have eggs. I don't like noodle dishes without egg and order accordingly. They never follow through.
