    Mount Roosevelt Friendship Memorial

This place deserves 10 stars. This is some place you will want to spend more than one night at. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They have laundry, pavilion, playground, 2 dog parks and lots of games. They can fill your propane for you. The sites are so nice and are so clean. The store even has adult beverages. It's close to so many beautiful sites that are a must see. Rushmore, CrazyHorse, Custer State Park, Bear Country USA, Mt Roosevelt, and too many to list.

Covered wagon. Bring sleeping bag, pillow, air mattress and lamp.

I stayed in the covered wagon and it's definitely for those on a budget a bit more adventurous. Brought a sleeping bag and pillow, but it's hard so I recommend bringing an air mattress to use inside. It holds up well to the rain as I got hard thunderstorms the two nights I stayed there. The wagon also shook wildly with the accompanying wind storm. Definitely worth the experience! One thing to note, is that there were lots of spiders in the wagon - small ones and daddy long legs. If you're not about the spiders, you'll want to skip this one. The campground is very quiet and the bathrooms are individual ones which is great for showering and having a bit of privacy. Highly recommend this campground. Tip: Bring sleeping bag, pillow, lamp and air mattress if staying in the covered wagon.

Great campground with big spaces and super dog friendly! WiFi was good and cell reception was great (I have Verizon). They have a dog park to unleash your pups and I seen deer everyday while we there. The only bad thing about this place is the pollen from the pine trees (it is extremely bad and covers everything in a matter of an hour -FYI we were here in late May so the pollen may not be as bad other times of the year). The HEAVY pollen covering our trailer, truck, and pretty much everything that we put outside is the main reason I'd try to stay elsewhere next time.

Great central location to the sights around western So Dak! Bathrooms are nice and well kept, tent sites are beautiful at the back end of camp with pine trees to the sky! WiFi spotty at best towards the back lots. Will definitely return when in the area!

Shower house with flush toilet and dink combos. All were clean

Great Campground. Felt like you were out of town, but were really a few minutes outside of Custer! Would visit again.

Crystal-clear water is surrounded by massive granite rock formations, towering pine trees, and some of the most picturesque landscapes you'll find anywhere in the region. One of our favorite parts was walking around the lake on the easy Shoreline Trail. The trail is well maintained and offers incredible views from every angle. We also enjoyed walking across the historic stone dam, which provides a fantastic vantage point for photos and a great perspective of the lake and surrounding rock formations. What makes Sylvan Lake special is that it's the perfect destination for almost everyone. Whether you enjoy hiking, photography, kayaking, swimming, rock scrambling, or simply relaxing in nature, there's something here for you. The area is clean, well cared for, and easy to access. The location is also an excellent starting point for hikers heading to Black Elk Peak, but even if you don't plan to do a longer hike, the lake itself is worth the visit. If you're exploring Custer State Park or driving the Needles Highway, don't miss Sylvan Lake. It's one of those rare places that looks even better in person than it does in photographs. Highly recommended! Check out our video on our socials @reessroots

This is an awesome campground within an incredible state park…read more We stayed two nights at Sylvan Lake Campground and were really impressed, especially by how clean everything was! I couldn't believe how spotless the bathrooms were every single time I went in, it was perfect. The electric sites are fairly close together, so if you're looking for more privacy, I'd recommend the walk-in sites. The unfortunate thing about the walk-in sites are the more secluded sites (like #16, #17, and #21) require a bit of an uphill trek. It's not a long walk, but it does take a little bit of effort to get everything up there. That said, Site #21 was one of the best campsites I've ever stayed in, it was worth the extra sweat. The only reason I'm giving this place four stars is because the trail to the walk-in sites is very rough. They do provide a wheelbarrow to help carry your stuff, but the terrain is so rocky that using it seemed like more trouble compared to just walking your stuff up. Overall we enjoyed our stay and everyone was so quiet, it really felt like it was just you in nature.
