I got the fried chicken combo ($16.99) and my husband got the beef combo ($16.99). We requested no sesame seeds for our food and they accommodated by not sprinkling sesame seeds on the rice, japchae or beef, but they forgot that one of the fried chicken sauces has sesame seeds in it, so I had to give my husband that piece. We were going to share anyway, so it wasn't a big deal for me. The Fried Chicken Combo came with 3 pieces of fried chicken, each one a different flavour: original, sweet and spicy, and soy garlic. The sweet and spicy sauce has sesame seeds in it. Since I can't eat sesame seeds but can tolerate slight contamination, I didn't bring it up and just gave that piece to my husband. Although in retrospect I should have alerted them for them to be more aware for someone else who might have a more severe issue. Both combos came with japchae, rice, 2 dumplings, and coleslaw. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. It was great. I liked both the original and the soy garlic. Hubby liked the sweet and spicy. The beef was tender and flavourful. And I liked that it was lean meat and not gristly. The dumplings were deep-fried and had pork and vegetables in it. The rice was nicely steamed and slightly sticky which I liked. The japchae was flavourful and had shiitake mushrooms, carrots, bell peppers and onions in it. It was little too oily for my preference, but I still enjoyed it. The combos also came with a can of soda or a bottle of water. My husband got a Coca Cola and I got a bottle of water, which I took to go to drink during my shopping adventures after lunch, since we were given tap water with our meal. Service was courteous and efficient. Lots of indoor seating with televisions playing K-pop music videos in the dining room. The restaurant is down a flight of stairs, so might be a problem for those with mobility issues. Review #18 (2025)

The food here is impeccably authentic, down to the chilled radish and slaw. And the ambiance? During that time so many customers came and left as there was no one at the front desk to help or take orders. Those that showed up and waited, had to wait longer. The chicken is orange colored instead of red. There were no rice noodles either. I brought it alll the way back to the restaurant and told them they gave me the wrong order. The guy (African American kid) says no this is the correct order. He proceeds to say they always make it like this in this color and sauce. I showed him their own pictures in the restaurant and their yelp pictures too. They insisted this was the right order. I even pointed out my order is not only orange, there is no rice cakes. He then tells me there are no rice cakes in the whole restaurant right now and that it's only 4 pieces. Like, what kind of attitude is that? I paid a premium price and waited 30 minutes. You could've been more empathetic and understanding. My order looks nothing like their own advertisement. They should've told me there are no rice cakes too. Do not go here if you want what is advertised and value good service. They have false advertisement and act shady about the order and what you get. They are just kids trying to get through their day. I should've just went somewhere else. What a disappointment. Shame on the business for not giving a damn about their customers. Usually chicken places ( Korean fried chicken) that take a half hour to prepare chicken double fry them and remain crispy even with sauce (even after delivery). This is far from the case here. The restaurant has 2 tiny round tables with no chairs. They also sell Korean style corn dogs. I feel bad for whomever invested in creating this business as their service and food is leaving such a bad impression on their brand.

The Long Version: On a previous trip to Montreal, my husband and I walked by Danbi on our last day in the city, so I made a note to return on a future visit, and so we did. We got the Danbi Chicken Wrap ($11.50), Crispy Chicken Bites ($14.99) and added fries for an additional $2. The food came out pretty quickly and everything was delicious! The fried chicken bites were crunchy on the outside and the dark meat on the inside was moist and tender. I usually prefer white meat, but the dark meat here wasn't fatty or gristly so I enjoyed it. The sauce came on the side. I had asked the staff there what the Danbi sauce was and she described it as a sweet sauce with a touch of teriyaki flavour. The only seating is bar seating facing the wall for about 6-8 people. You order and pay at the kiosk, but the staff member is available to answer any questions or take special requests. Staff bring out the food as it's ready. We got our fried chicken bites first, then the wrap, then the fries. We were fine with this so we could start eating quicker, lol, and everything arrived at our table piping hot.
