Nicole helped and two ladies on the register were nice and helpful too. They answered my questions and helped me. They had better sale and prices were compatible with other stores. I was unhappy with the service at this location, and the follow-up phone call only felt like a waste of my time. After my experience, I filled out the survey that was emailed to me, and the manager responded by offering a 10% off coupon--without genuinely acknowledging my concerns. A small discount doesn't make up for the rude customer service I encountered. While the selection is cute, I'd rather drive to Glendale or another location where the service is better. read more

I placed an online order before store hours, and about less than an hour into store opening, I received notification my item was already ready for in store pick up. Employees were friendly, always smiling and offering assistance, but at the same time, they were not overbearing. My in store pick up order took only a few minutes to complete. I usually am able to find items that are sold out at other Hot Topic locations here. read more

A great store to find some anime shirts or musician shirts. It's smaller than other Hot Topic stores but they might have what you want here. I stopped by this location because I was in the area and was looking for a Hey Arnold shirt for my fiancée. The employee were nice and friendly when I walked in. They have a tons of anime stuff than I saw at other Hot Topic stores. I didn't find what I wanted but it was nice to look around. read more

I popped in to return a hoodie and ended up browsing a bit. I did end up finding quite a few things because they were having a really great sale. I've been to this HT many times, but this visit in particular was so awesome! As soon as I came in Melissa was very helpful and informed me of all the sales that were going on. *I don't ever leave reviews or really care how a store is or the employees but as a retail worker myself these girls have no respect for any type of customer service* Went there to return/exchange a nose piercing set. To start I was completely ignored while inside the store, there was 3 or 4 girls standing around the back registers talking, not one of them asked if I wanted the glass case opened to see the jewelry or even acknowledged my presence inside the store. Didn't see what I was looking for so I went to make my return, stood where it says to make a line and when the previous customer was finished the cashier didn't look to see if anyone was there and simply walked away from the register to put stocking back. When I stood at the register still nothing, a girl with bright pink hair took a few steps towards the register then decided to turn around and ignore me and didn't even tell the cashier someone was there. All the workers were engaged in helping another girl with the body jewelry and when a worker with black hair came to the register to ring up the other girl then my presence was finally acknowledged. She told me jewelry can't be returned and it's a final sale item, I completely get that but no one told me that when I made the purchase and it is not listed on the receipt. The worker made no attempt to offer another solution or anything and I simply left now not knowing what to do with 9 piercings that simply will not fit. read more

this has turned into the worst store. rude unhelpful employees with attitude. They just stand around not helping customers and expecting the customers to do their work for you. The store has rotating employees most likely because the store is so poorly run that they lose the good ones. Ever since the manager Victoria left, it has gone way downhill. I can only think of one employee at that store who thinks about customers and customer service before picking their own noses. They continually mess up online order pickup, giving me someone else's packages then forget to check off that I picked up a package. Then when you pick up a package, they're hostile and unhelpful. Alonna was the worst but she's gone. But the store's atmosphere hasn't gotten better. The other closest store is Glendale but their employees need training as well. read more

Not gonna lie, I'm always slightly embarrassed when I walk into Hot Topic bc I feel like I should probably shop at more age-appropriate stores, but... oh well. I used to shop at HT in my high school days, took a break for a longgg time, and have been coming again (mostly shopping at the Burbank Mall). The HT here, like a lot of HTs in your average mall, is on the dark side though it doesn't have the "goth" feeling anymore as it used to in the past. Now, it's mostly clothes, jewelry, and fun trinkets and stuff everywhere from recent pop culture references. I have to always do 2 rounds in this store to make sure I don't miss anything bc they usually shift things around depending on what the current popular trend/show/movie/etc. is. I've bought several anime jewelry, video game t-shirts and clothing items, disney related items, and gifts for friends here. I've also ordered online and picked up in store when the physical store didn't have my size. The staff here is also super nice. I've never had a problem with them. I will say, there's some disorganization with the sales/clearance section (esp when stuff is just thrown in several boxes and you're supposed to sift through and figure that stuff out... no thank you). There's usually some kind of deal or promo going on, so be on the lookout or check online. read more

Victoria made my day. I was shopping around and couldn't find a restaurant and she pointed me in the right direction after I purchased a t-shirt. I went to the restaurant got my food and left, but left my t-shirt in the restaurant. Someone stole it and tried returning it to the same Hot Topic, but she remembered selling it to me and the restaurant receipt (in the Hot Topic bag) was proof. She called me, and told me that she had my shirt there at the store and to come and get it. I didn't get a chance to say thanks, but clearly that kind of service isn't necessary and was really cool. read more

Bought a t-shirt regular price (24$ + tax came out to 27.45$). Decided to buy a cardigan (55$) immediately after I bought the shirt but the manager refused to give me the 30% off advertised . "Ie buy something regular priced and get 30% off". We had not even left the store but she was adamant and unwilling to honor the discount and refund the sale and do a new transaction . We came home and found the shirt for 12$ and the cardigan 20% off at HotTopic online . After tax and shipping the cardigan is $40 and $12 for the same shirt. I will be returning the t-shirt I paid 27$ which ended up being 50% off online! Too bad the store was unwilling to accommodate the customer and earn themselves a bigger sale and inconvenienced me but in the end I paid less and will get more plus delivery to my doorstep . It will be a pleasure to return their shirt to them. read more

This hot topic sucks! Beware of ordering for store pickup!My boyfriend unknowingly had his email hacked and someone picked up his store pick up order with JUST AN EMAIL! They didn't ask for any form of identification. They just gave it to that stranger. What kind of store doesn't ask for identification. In the email it clearly states that in order to pick up your order you need to present your IDENTIFICATION CARD and the email!!!! This was irresponsible of them. 1.) they would not permit an exchange for the same amount of money I originally paid. 2.) they would not allow returns for full refund. 3.) they would not permit full refund even if products were shipped back to their warehouse. 4.) when products are returned, shipped back or brought in store they will not allow you full credit or full refund, only a percentage of what they choose. Finally #5.) even though the option of providing the consumer credit, allows the money to stay within the company, they will limit your options. PAY ATTENTION: others have written this and it is true. If you email hot topic you will not hear back for 12-17 business days. If you call Hot Topic you will be on hold for 45mins- 1hour and 10 minutes to get to speak with a customer service rep. You would think that if a company permits credit they would want to provide it to you in full. WHY? Because the credit is money still staying within the corporation. It is simply recycled money that STILL REMAINS with them. Not with the consumer/customer. The staff at this location is rude, short with their remarks, dismissive, unprofessional and not helpful. They could care less whether or not you are in their shop or will be spending money. YOU HAVE THE OPTIONS to shop elsewhere or at a different Hot Topic location. I would if I was you. I shopped here. Usually grab jeans at whatever Hot Topic I may be near when on tour and I have to say,the service "or lack of it"that I endured at the Burbank location was the worst.. Although the counter girl did give me her attention if terms of gawking at me like some sort of thief..Not cool or subtle.Hot topic used to be a pretty cool place to grab some unique gear..When did the lunatics start running the asylum? As I left the store feeling weirded out and although she did not address or speak to me in terms of offering help she did bark a "have a nice day" at me as I left..Aaaah,what a class act... This is only a 2 and not 1 star because the boy working there was a sweetheart and really nice even though he was the only worker and clearly overwhelmed. The store is a MESS!! I mean I get the concept, I was a goth kid growing up but that doesn't mean you have to squish everything into such a small space with everything falling off hangers and on the floor and counters. It's just a total disaster. Also, corporate or mgmt should reiterate to hourly employees to take off the ink security tag prior to letting the customer leave. I live pretty far away and got home and noticed the tag on the garment still. Nope, it didn't beep on the way out. I refuse to waste gas to drive all the way back so I'll do it when I'm in the area next. Minor issue, but it's still a major inconvenience to customers and it's something so simple. read more

Located towards Sears. This has to be the smallest Hot Topic location in existence. I think anymore than 20 people in that store would be considered a fire hazard! Being that it is a small store, also limits their merchandise. I've been coming here for years, and 8 out of 10 visits, the item that I'm looking for, is either sold out, or they don't carry it. On my last visit, I came to exchange a gift I was given, and I had a gift receipt. I stood in line, and patiently waited my turn. Although the cashier was heavily engaged in a conversation with the customer ahead of me, I tried not to let my patience get the best of me. After about 10 minutes, it was finally my turn. As I informed her that I was doing an exchange, she says, "Oh, you have to go to his line", pointing to the cashier behind her. At this point, my patience had committed suicide. "Why couldn't you have a sign that the other line is for exchanges, and now I have to waste more time, by going to the other line?!" I still tried very hard to keep my composure offering solutions, so that I would not have to stand in line, yet again. I didn't catch her name, but she was definitely a high school student, and her IQ was barely high enough to keep her breathing. I was forced to go to the other line, at this point, was 8-people long. read more

I went in to exchange a Large shirt I received from a secret santa. I saw they had a Medium on the shelf, so I picked it up and went in line. I explained how there is no receipt because it was a gift, but the Hot Topic tag was still on the shirt, so it was clearly from Hot Topic. The cashier seemed a bit confused, or more likely annoyed that he'd have to do a few extra things to make this transaction work. By extra, I mean more than just scanning the tag and sliding a credit card. Anyways, all seemed well and as I exited the store, the alarm went off, but it had been going off a few times already while I was in the store. So I didn't think anything of it. Later, after I went home, it turns out the LARGE was actually given back to me instead of the MEDIUM I exchanged it for. Now, I essentially have a stolen good, as this Large was returned the the store. I went back the next morning and they were out of Mediums. So again, I am back at square one. This review is maybe a bit bitter, and just based on one experience. But this was the first time I had a transaction at this particular Hot Topic. It was meant to be a simple exchange, and yet I am now stuck with a Large "stolen" shirt. I went to 2 other Hot Topic stores and they are also completely out of stock. It's been 2-3 weeks, and by the time I find the same shirt, in Medium, in stock, I feel like I'll have a hell of a time trying to exchange this "stolen" shirt without hassel. :( read more

Let me just say that an awful experience at Trader Joes in burbank (alameda), prompted me to write this review on Hot Topic. I happen to have visited both places today. I have always loved Hot Topic merchandise. I've bought many of my Halloween costumes, accessories and daily wear here. I've never been disappointed. But above everything else, the staff at Hot Topic overshadows all other store staff. Especially today, that of trader joes. If anyone needs some customer service training, call on the Hot Topic staff to help your ass out. They are awesome at Hot Topic, friendly, open and just overall amazing customer service. Oh my god! I love this hot topic so much! The employees made this the best shopping experience I've ever had with the company in all my years of shopping with the company. I was looking for Doctor Who stuff and since there's sort of a lil with DW, they were determined to help me look around the store and make my Doctor Who dreams come true. It was their mission for the night while still helping other customers! Best. Staff. Ever! I wish there was more I could do to thank them but it's the crew that was working the night shift on Friday January 26th 2018 that kicked ass. I had a decent experience here shopping for my little cousin's birthday. She is a big fan of Five Seconds of Summer and I was racking my brain about where to find a band t-shirt and some merch for her. I wasn't sure if they'd have it at HT because I think of them as being a little more "goth" but it turns out I was wrong. I got a really cute tee for her and a wristband, and she was extremely stoked. I actually would probably come back here and shop again because I thought their novelty tees looked really adorable and their sales seemed to be really good. read more

LOVED coming here! I didn't get anything as I was looking for cat pajamas for my niece BUT totally worth my trip as the staff was AMAZING!! Just walking in to someone smiling and saying hi with a genuine smile and attitude = priceless! I believe kindness is what the world needs more of and I will take it and give it anywhere I can!!
