Been shopping at this Hot Topic for literal years and was excited to see that they introduced pin trading. I used to be a casual pin trader in the Disney parks back when I had annual passes, so I came in to the store to trade with my pin book. First experience was SUPER positive and I even ended up speaking to the manager and some employees and even showed them how to spot fake Disney pins to avoid accepting pin trades for inauthentic pins. The manager is extremely kind and most of the employees are, too. So why two stars? I came in today and wanted to trade a pin I had just bought at Box Lunch minutes ago. I ended up getting a duplicate so I came in to Hot Topic and an employee named Peach saw that the pin packaging I was pulling the pin out of had a clearance sticker on it. "I don't trade clearance". Huh? Is my $8 pin not good enough to trade? Hot Topic has two-pack pins for $14 and their website also frequently has buy two get one free deals. How is my pin valued at $12 any different? I told her that her mentality made literally no sense and walked out. Went back into Box Lunch and traded with the wonderful employees there. Only reason this isn't one star is because the manager and other employees are absolutely wonderful. I came back in to get the employees name and the manager very kindly insisted on helping me trade. At that point, I was over it and said "I'm good, it's just weird". It's a pin (it's not that serious), and it's supposed to be fun. I stopped by this Hot Topic this morning to see if they have any tshirts my wife will like. I got her some Hey Arnold shirts from here before so I wanted to see if they have anymore. I didn't find any Hey Arnold shirts but they had other shirts on display. They staff here are very nice and approachable, a worker came up to me and told me about their tshirts deal. Employee with blue and orange hair made me and my sister wildly uncomfortable. It was clearly of no bad intent but it's really inappropriate to shout at us in excitement and press us for conversation when we were clearly walking away from them and didn't want to be rambled to. My sister bought a pair of cat ears which prompted them to shout "YES! YES! YES!" at us and embarrass us, and say "Awww, you guys can have a little moment with those.". I don't know what that's supposed to mean but it's weird to say that to me and my sister, let alone customers who aren't related to eachother. This was the third time they approached us after we uncomfortably dismissed and avoided them. I've avoided this store since because of how badly I don't wanna deal with that again. Please approach your customers as CUSTOMERS, not best friends. Genuinely we could not have left the store faster, and on top of all that they were distracting the checkout employee and prolonging it. I literally only come to this location to kill time while I'm on my lunch. I occasionally purchase something here and there when I see something I like. Mostly, I purchase from online because I don't have employees attempting to up-sale something I don't need. This location is so crammed with (useless) stuff - you're barely able to move around without bumping into someone or knocking something down. The few times I've asked employees for a certain item they always say its either sold out or to check online which is why I don't bother asking for help. If I don't see it anywhere in the store then I just order it online when I get home. read more

I know y'all got quotas to meet, but it really is incredibly inconvenient to have a sales associate approach customers in each new area of the store they enter. You can't move an inch here before you're approached. Trust me, I don't need help, I've been here for one minute and four employees have already asked if I'm doing alright and then monologued about deals that have been going on for years at this point. I'd get it if they were paid on commission (they're not), so maybe chill out on the sales talk for a min and let me shop in peace. Oh, the inner, angst-ridden high schooler in me jumps up and down in nostalgia every time I walk into a Hot Topic. I love the shirts; I love the jeans; I love the jackets; I love the flannels; I love that everything actually fits me! They carry my size, a feat other retailers could care less about when it comes to catering to physically-disproportionate, 5'6 men as myself. This particular location counts with all of the above mentioned merchandise minus my jean size, and admittedly the only reason why this is a 4 oppose to a 5 star review. Everything else is on-par with the Hot Topic standards that keep me a loyal customer throughout the years. The employees are sweet and helpful, especially when it comes to searching through highly-hanged jackets to grab one in my size (thank you so, so much!). The shirts come in a variety of designs; from mainstream to indie Rock, TV show and movie-inspired, and the anime and MCU game is strong when it comes to not only the t-shirts but backpacks and other accessories. Oh, and the Hot Cash; they hand these out like free candy when making a moderate purchases and it makes for a virtually free purchase at a later date. A week ago I stopped by Hot Topic Glendale Galleria midday to purchase a Harry Potter outfit for my daughter for her school Special Harry Pot dress up day... Being the outdated and out of touch parent I had no idea that there were different sects of Harry Potter "house" .. Therefore, instead of HufflePuff , what she actually wanted, I bought Gryffindor Cardigan , head band, and tie set. Excited, I layed it out on her bed to surprise this little 9 year old... and yes I threw away receipts and all tags and packaging . She comes home and to my bewilderment , instead of a "Heck Yeah! Thanks Dad!", I get a "Ah Maaaaannn, Dad I'm a Hufflepuff NOT a Gryff!" "A whaa!? A powder puff?? A was that you say??" I call the store and some gal tell me that I must have one of 3 in order to make an exchange... receipt/tags/membership data .... I had none and pretty much she left me with "Sorry, good luck!" kind of reply. I was totally bummed for my daughter and not to thrilled with their exchange policy when in fact I can easily prove that I made the purchase recently with them. Anyways long story short, down and out and feeling a bit defeated my daughter and I made a our pilgrimage to the mall store thinking ways to improve the outfit by maybe purchasing some HufflePuff accessories... and then the MIRACLE... KIMMAY! Approaches us and offers us her service if needed and that when I bring up our predicament. Right away without skipping a beat, "Hey no prob, we can do an even exchange"... My jaw dropped and my daughter was jumping for joy.... SUPER JOY... that's what makes me happy to see her happy. THANKS KIMMY FOR MAKING MY DAUGHTER's DAY! So my mom suggested we go to the scary Halloween costume store in the Glendale Galleria!!! Hot Topic has a variety of clothing and accessories, lots of cool stuff. I wanted to buy a Slipknot t-shirt but they only had extra large. I requested a size medium to be shipped to my address and the attendant at the register was super friendly and patient. Unfortunately they did not have any medium-sized shirts in stock. Just got out of here with the worst experience, purchased 2 gauges( body piercing), after purchasing them I stepped out of the store and tried to put one of them on. Sadly they were way to big and didn't get close to fitting,(like trying to put a ping pong ball up your nostril, it's not going to happen)so I went back in the store to return them. Hot Topic you got kinda lame now and overrated. I remember this place being about rockabilly, punk, metal and all that other rock related stuff. Now you play Justin Bieber songs and that is lame. The design of your store is not even dark, it is all bright like coming to visit Forever 21 or Aeropostale. If I wanna shop to those places than I will go there, but if I want feel a bit edgy on a certain day than I go here. So what happen????! 11-27-19 Greeting:No Store appearance: Foul smell as if there was a plumbing issue. I have lost faith in the art of customer service. Last night I went to Hot topic to get a gift card for my daughter. Upon arrival I walked into the store directly to the service counter. A couple was trYing to get help on an additional item they wanted to buy. The cashier was trying to help, then finally called a manager to help. At this point there were three people behind me, with the couple still remaining in the line ahead. At no point did the cashier or any other employee try to get the rest of the line handled. In the meantime the line had grown to 7 or 8 more people behind me. I then see an employee rushing in the store towards the back cashier station. I sighed relief. But wait ..she wasn't opening up the register she was breaking apart pieces of sensors or something. After waiting 15 minutes of not being acknowledged by anyone, being ignored by other staff.. I had it. I left the store after having my time wasted and nothing to show for it. Oh and as I was Leaving the store I saw Another employee just kind of hanging around.. NOT acknowledging anyone. Smh. The manager, the employees everyone there needs some retraining. Or Hot Topic you need to do a serious overhaul. read more

Every time I visited the Glendale mall, the first I would visit would be Hot Topic. Once you arrived, you would be greeted by very friendly staff. I just love their merchandise and products since I am a big fanatic with movies and anime. There are times when I drag my friends or family to this store when I want to see what new products they have. My aunt and I would sometimes go there for the pops since she is a big collector on them. The place is clean and organized. You do have to ask an employee if you can use the changing room but, everything else is fine. read more

The selection here never disappoints for those who a fan of anything popular! Whatever the "hot topic" is in today's society they would definitely have merchandise for it! The divisions of what they have in stock are pretty organized. They have the main shirts and clothing on the walls, one section full of their Funko Pop!s, the accessories and memorabilia would be in the middle islands, and many other stuff that you may find interesting will be here. From comic books, movies, music, books, tv shows, this place has some pretty cool stuff. The staff were always welcoming every time I drop by. I love coming here and saying what's up to the staff. They will ask if you need help with anything or have any questions for specific items you may be searching for so don't be afraid to ask! When it's busy the place may be a bit tight, but only beachwear they have a wide selection of stuff to get, so might as well look to see what they have.They always update their deals and sales once in a while, so you should double check if you have any coupons/hot cash available. read more

I have not been to one in many, many, many years, but there was a particular Metallica shirt that I needed to get a hold of and they had one and only one and it was the display one and it was in my size. Now, all I needed to do was to convince them to give it to me. I asked, hey can I have that shirt, I will buy it right now. They said absolutely, brought a ladder out, got it down and sold it to me.
