I just went to my first bikram class and I could not be happier. I was overwhelmed at first because the heated room, the amount of people in the class, etc...but I learned to appreciate it. I didn't feel pressured to over perform and the instructor advised me to sit and watch if I ever felt uneasy. I sat in the back row to not be a distraction. It's the best feeling when the class is over. Just exiting the hot room and walking into the cool hallway is worth the class in general. My skin feels amazing. Can't wait to go regularly. read more

This is a decent studio, it's not 5 stars though for a few reasons. This studio has good heat and the rotation of instructors is fairly good. However, there is not a water fountain, leaving you to refill your water after class or before from the bathroom sink. That is my biggest turn off from this studio. Bathroom sinks are pretty nasty! The heat in the yoga studio is good, however, the students here are noisy and talk before class. The instructors at this studio seem to think that that opening the windows after class is a good idea. I am not sure if this is because they wish to ventilate the room, but for a studio which gave me the explanation of "we don't have plastic bags because we're green" (to put your wet clothes in, sometimes people leave some from home in a basket... I thought opening the windows after class was fairly wasteful and it's cold! One of the keys of Bikram is to be in the heat! They also open the door and prop it open, leaving you to hear the whole lobby of noise while you are supposed to be in a relaxation state after class, I suppose "don't let anything steal your peace" as Bikram says, we are supposed to be doing that while the door and windows with highway traffic are open? The locker rooms are nice, could use more showers and they should get rid of the changing areas in front of the shower stalls to speed up the showering process and get people in and out. This studio is pretty good as far as Bikram studios go. The opening the windows after class drives me crazy along with the lack of a water fountain. In all of my travels, this is the first studio I have seen without a means to fill up water. Perhaps I missed it? I did look around for it! read more

I can not say enough good things about the practice of Bikram Yoga! It has cured every injury from running and other exercise I have ever had...however there are few annoying things that happen at this studio I could do without... For one, it clearly states on the website and in the studio that there is NO talking in the hot room. I find it so obnoxious when I am "mentally preparing myself" before class and the people talking grows to a humming...like I am in an elementary school cafeteria. There is also a discrepancy in the way certain instructors deal with people moving or drinking or talking during class. I had a class once where the guy next to me came out of EVERY posture and took a drink while we were all still trying to stay in it. I wish I was exaggerating...but it was literally all 26--even the breathing exercises. I know it was not just me because I comiserated with other students in the locker room after. I mean, I am all for beginners coming in and not knowing what's up, I was there! BUT that is why you should be in the back row to learn. I have seen first timers in the front, they don't know what's going on and it is distracting. Yeah, yeah, I know the practice is about blocking out the things going on around you, but the annoyance builds up to a point where it is not enjoyable to go. I remember waiting on a Saturday morning for the 10am class. 8am was full, it had just ended and I was waiting at the hot room door. The instructor came out and CLEARLY said to me and the others waiting, "Please do not go in until everyone is out." Not 5 seconds later the girl behind me waltzes in and takes a window spot. I felt like saying, "Not only did you deliberately disobey, but you went for the window? REALLY? If you can't handle the hot room, DON'T come!" On a super positive note, Pubali is amazing. Class act with a sense of humor, always willing to help you figure out why your body is misbehaving, always giving great advice! I apologize for the harsh review, I know you do not have control over how people interpret the "hot room etiquette," I just wish it was more heavily enforced. read more

I have been going to BYM for the past six months, and am still finding things to learn from the instructors at this studio. Everyone has different years and types of experience -- students and instructors alike. The instructors here practice what they preach; they're often taking a 90-minute open-eyed meditation alongside the rest of us. It can be hard to convince yourself to go sometimes, because you know that it's going to be hot no matter what the weather is outside, but it's always worth it, and with the range of times offered, anyone can find time to practice here. I got started at BYM with a 30-day for $30 promotion, and there are competitions/challenges every few months for bikram supplies and promo membership rates. This is a great studio and a great community to stretch and grow with! read more

I've been working with this fantastic group of teachers and hot room for 5 months now and WOW! My joints are looser and I have significantly less pain in them. The other clients are supportive and encouraging (if you're new it can be intimidating) and the teachers/owner are always happy to help with suggestions for positions, answering questions before/after class and keep you so focused on the practice that the 90 minutes just flies by! I have been to yoga studios all around the country, and I still feel that Bikram Manchester is the most homey, cozy, clean and professional studio of any of them. The instructors are gracious and helpful, and the students it draws are of equal caliber. The new location is wonderful and anyone interested in trying Bikram get do so in expensively with the trial. It's such a great exercise - I recommend going into BYM! read more

This is the 4th studio I have been to since I started practicing bikram yoga. They are able to maintain the temperature and humidity better than a couple of the others I've been to (yay!). The instructors I've had have all been awesome. No complaints there. The room (and rug) of course, smells a bit. Its a room full of people sweating a lot. What else would you expect? But it's still a great space in an old mill building. It can be tricky to find the first time you go - the easiest directions are to turn onto Foundry Street... Allard Drive will be on the right - go past that and turn left between the buildings. You'll see the Rock 101 offices on the right. Keep driving into the parking lot - the yoga studio is on the right at the end. read more

Bikram Yoga Manchester is by far my favorite yoga studio. The studio lighting is perfect. The locker room (and the rest of the studio) is spotless. The instructors are helpful, compassionate, kind and caring. I have never felt less intimidated walking into a studio than I did from day one at BYM. There is plenty of parking. The rates are very reasonable. Perhaps the best thing about BYM are the instructors. No matter how many questions I might have after class, the instructors always have time to spend with me. I was talking to a friend of mine at the gym one day who was always trying something different and that day her new thing was Bikram Yoga. She told me that I had to try it and I told her no way, I had done yoga a few times and didn't like it. She said this was a different kind of yoga, different poses than regular yoga and done in a hot room. Well, she lost me right there, I HATE BEING HOT. I told her I couldn't take that kind of heat but she assured me I would get used to it. I told her I would think about it . My first class I went by myself and NEVER, will I forget it, Rich was teaching that day. I told him I was a nervous wreck and he told me to just try to relax and try to stay in the room and only do what I felt like doing. I said to myself, okay, I can do this, and entered the room, put my mat down and wondered WHAT was I thinking. Well I managed to stay in the room the entire class and was certain I had just done my first and last class of Bikram Yoga. That day was about 6 years ago and I have to say, I did get used to the heat and I go three time a week now. I have received numerous benefits from this yoga both physically and mentally, really too many to go into here. I am 72 years old and wish I had started years ago so it's never too late to start. If you like Bikram or Hot Yoga you will love this studio. It os new, the classroom holds about 35 students and the owner is none other than the Niece of the Boss himself, Bikram Choudhury. Every teacher is Bikram certified. The facilities are beautiful. The changing rooms and showers are handicapped accessible and have plenty of room. Best of All the Room is HOT HOT HOT. Pubali - the owner is very sweet and very knowledgable about Yoga and health. She is an excellent teacher. read more
