Let not my five stars lead you to believe this is a five star hotel. This hotel is five stars for what it is-- an unreal location for under $200 per night in a crazy expensive city. I popped my little head out the window of our room here and was gazing out at the roman forum. Say whaaaa? It was perfect. We only had two days in Rome to see everything, and not wasting a minute in transit was invaluable.
We arrived on the train from Florence quite early in the morning and got to the hotel about 9:30 am. The kind gentleman at the front desk was very welcoming and was happy to let us check in early after he got some guests checked out. We sat in a darling little courtyard and waited all of about 10 minutes, after which he informed us we could check in AND had upgraded our room for no reason. The hotel itself is modern in style, though a tad rough around the edges. It could use some paint touch ups and that sort of thing, but all the other positives make me feel bad even nitpicking.
The room was very large, with a loft level containing hands-down the best bathtub I have ever been in. It was seriously almost large enough to swim laps in. I will be dreaming of that bathtub for years to come. I love baths if you can't tell. The breakfast here is passable- I don't generally love any hotel breakfasts but they get the job done.
The location allowed us to stop on during the day to drop things off or change clothes with no inconvenience. Even after we checked out, they let us store our belongings at the hotel so we could sightsee all day before our train. We had a great experience here, keeping in mind what your expectations should be at this price point in Rome. read more
