Contains cancer causing chemicals? I'm new here but, what??
    Mychel E.

Wow. I see why this place got three stars. Old, smelly, sheets are dirty. The lobby is trying to look nice BUT bar and restaurant wasn't open. The stairs were the nicest thing about this place and we only took the stairs because we were afraid to ride the elevator. This place has a bad smell. It's in desperate need of some major renovations. I can see this place as the setting of a horror movie. Old carpeting and uneven floors that creak with every step you take. Dimly lit and grungy looking. The area is terrible. Lots of businesses closed and buildings for lease. We honestly did not do enough research before arriving. Like the other reviews mention, the window a/c unit is so loud. This place gave me a headache just being in the room for an hour. We arrived late and had no other choice but to stay the night. We were both itchy after sitting in our original room for a few minutes and asked to change rooms. Concierge was nice enough to switch us. The second room was better but not by much. We cancelled the rest of our stay and found a hotel for double the price down the road. Worth it. We went through a third party booking company so cancelling the rest of our reservation was such a pain.

I was looking for a boutique but not too expensive hotel to stay at for the weekend, and found Hotel Fusion a 3-star hotel. I wasn't expecting a 4-star experience so everything was in line as expected. It's a great place to have as a home base as you explore the city, but not the most ideal if you want to spend time to hangout in your room. Staff was courteous and check in experience was good Cleanliness was alright I booked on Agoda and got a great price so it worked out very well for me. I'd say it's best for business people, individuals or maybe a couple who's just using it for sleeping. Note: some rooms are better than others. Some rooms have outward facing rooms, and some face the internal AC units. Some have AC and others don't. Request specific things if you can.

This is a modern looking hotel which is inviting the moment you step into the lobby. They have a small lounge/seating area, a bar (not currently open due to covid, but seating is available), and a restaurant upstairs (also not open due to covid). Customer service at the front desk was pretty standard... gave us the basics of what we needed, but not really efficient, or going out of their way to be helpful/friendly. The elevators require you to insert your key card in order to reach your desired floor (another guest had to help us figure that out since it would never stop on our floor). The room is clean and has decent amenities, but they gave us an accessible room (which we did not ask for), everything was a lot lower, ie. hooks, peephole, closet hangers, etc. Not a big deal, we're not the tallest people. But the layout and spacing of the room was awkward, and that became somewhat problematic. There was a large space on one side, and on the other side, not much space at all. On one side of the bed, a table and minifridge and seat, on the other side, nothing (a small table would have been helpful). And the corners of the bed were low and hard (wood/metal/ not sure), so I got a few bruises on my legs bumping into these during my stay. The fan/AC was a window unit, and it was pretty loud.. but necessary because it gets stuffy inside. But at least the rooms have temperature control, which I appreciate. The bedding was clean and comfortable, they even have a pillow menu (hypoallergenic, down, eco-friendly, memory foam... see my pic for descriptions). They have 12 noon checkout, and the location of the hotel in union square is ideal, with great restaurants and venues nearby. For a good price, I'd stay here again.

one shot of jameson and a chaser

came in for a quick shot... charged me double & told me thats how they do it there so be warned the bar is a scam and theres much better bars in the area. they didn't let me know one shot was going to be the price of a double before charging my card.

My mother and I stayed here a couple of nights ago. All was well! A 5-minute walk from the Powell BART station, easy and friendly check-in, felt safe and was quiet, clean and had everything we needed. It was helpful to read reviews ahead of time knowing that the room would be small. Our room did not face the street and maybe that's why it was so quiet. There is a coffee maker and a fridge in the room, as well as a safe. Downstairs they had a microwave and coffee. Just one block away was John's Grill restaurant which turned out to be very nice! Almost too nice as the price for a hamburger was $25. I guess they are known for their steak. Afterwards we walked 4 blocks to the Golden Gate Theater to watch a Broadway show. It was nice not to hassle with the car. The hotel was everything we had hoped for and I'm grateful.

    Full bed

I was here for four days. Rooms were very clean. Housekeeping came daily. Close to Market Street and Bart station. A huge Walgreens right around the corner on Powell Street. At night, it was very quiet. Will be staying here again on my next visit.

Right around the corner from the beautiful Powell street

The hotel has two restaurants, one for breakfast and one for bar and dinner. But there are so many good restaurants nearby as well. Convenient. I checked in late in the evening during a holiday weekend, and it was busy. The front lobby had two people checking in guests. When it was my turn at the counter, we were checked in pretty quickly and given a run down of the layout and weekend activities. Fresh water is provided right by the elevators so you can fill water bottles before heading to your rooms. And in the morning, hot coffee is provided right before you head out for the day. Pretty thoughtful. My stay was two nights, and the first night the street music and sounds came thru loud and clear. But the second night, it was quiet outside. So it's unpredictable if my stay would be relaxing or nerve racking. The room for 3 was a good size with a large bathroom, large windows of street view, and sizable writing desk, and arm chair. I got to use the gym once and it had all the general equipment and fairly large room. Upon check out, we received the kid welcome gift which was supposed to be at check in, but check in was chaotic so it was better late than never. And the staff were all very nice and friendly during our stay. We would come back to this location if we get the chance again.

I always get a king room and I've stayed on so many floors, The rooms are consistently clean and well maintained. I've never had a bad room experience in all of my stays. That has a lot to do with the amazing housekeeping crew. They come in daily to refresh and reset the room, So when I come in, the bed is made, the bathroom is refreshed everything is in place and reset. Not once have I ever had to ask for anything to be sent up to my room. It's all already taken care of. And let's talk about the breakfast setup! Because this is one of the best hotel breakfast I've ever had in my life. There's a hot bar with bacon, sausage and potatoes and eggs and it rotates daily. There's a yogurt bar with fresh fruit and even hard boiled eggs, there's always oatmeal with toppings. There's a center island filled with all of the carbs you can think of even tortillas. The bananas are always just ripe and that's rare. And there are two coffee stations one by the breakfast area and one by the front entry. I love the coffee! I really like the walkability of this hotel too! It's only a block from my office and very close to Oracle stadium as well as being close to the embarcadero walkway. I cannot say enough great things about this hotel and the crew. I love staying here and will always highly recommend this location. Tell them that I sent you! I want to say kudos to the leadership team because whatever you're doing, It's working and it should be duplicated in other hotels. See y'all next month!

You can also easily walk or do mass transit to other places - I did a walk up to the Painted Ladies and then hung out a bit in the lower Haight and then easily walked back down to this area. The establishment also has a kitchen area so you can go pick up sundry and supplies at the local Trader Joe's (just 2 or 3 blocks away) if you want to limit how much you spend eating out (something I plan to do next time) and the kitchen has free tea and instant coffee so the basics if you want to ease into your day. If you want the full "bathroom in my room" sort of thing there are other places but this is my 2nd time here and it is still great - there are stairs and no elevator so keep that in mind but the price versus location is wonderful - if noise bothers you, then bring ear plugs for the weekend - not super loud but if you are not used to noise, it might keep you up a bit - but I've found it to be a super safe area - you can catch the Bart most of the way (to the civic center) and then you catch the 21 3 stops to this location. Do note, you don't have someone on staff there but available by text and you use a key app, that they notify the day you are checking in - which I think works well - it is nice to have an affordable way to get out of the heat in Phoenix, especially in the summer, and I'm not looking for a resort experience but a place to lay my head and keep my stuff while I go enjoy the sights and sounds, and amazing food and drink, of the local area.

When I asked about this price discrepancy, they just replied with "the prices change everyday". It's not even worth staying here anymore. The bathrooms aren't kept up as well, there's no front desk, and no breakfast spread. $535 for 3 nights vs the 410 that it was listed for? They're trying to take advantage of the fact that I booked non-refundable! The hotel used to be quite a few other properties, so while they may have decorated it, it's not the luxurious experience we've had at other hotels. The views are to die for, we had a room that spanned windows from Golden Gate to Bay Bridge, it was amazing being on the 45th floor and seeing the night sky and morning sunrise. The property doesn't really have a real lobby, spa, and the restaurant is average, as in the quality of the food was just not top notch, and they have access to the best ingredients. They only have two elevators and are quite slow, at a busy time this can be quite annoying. The room itself was small, no real furniture, would have been nice to have a sofa and table with two chairs. There was no dresser. The bathroom was great for one, but small for two. The shower didn't have a bench, no his or her's sinks. The bed when we got into it was super soft and not supportive, when we called they did something really odd and put a board on the mattress and then a topper. I guess they have a guest that asks for this. Why didn't the service people know they have a firm version of the mattress topper they could have switched for us. We didn't have the best sleep. Again, usually the Four Seasons beds are amazing. While this property doesn't charge regular Four Seasons prices, it also doesn't deliver the experience and it would be a shame if the brand started doing this.

Those that a hotel of this level is an infrequent splurge, or stay here with tempered expectations, may find it satisfying depending on the rate/perks you got. We paid a little over $300 a night including all fees/taxes but as AMEX Platinum members got extra credit and perks so our total credits/perks were worth about $300 total for the two nights including an $80/day breakfast credit. So it was about like staying for $150/night with no credits/perks. Given location/amenities, I think up to around $200/night would be a fair discount rate (as of Summer 2026) Location: is good for tourists and the area in general feels safe and clean as the city has cleaned this area up a bit from previous years. Parking: $94 a day for valet (no self park.) Yep, welcome to Downtown San Francisco. You could valet park in the small garage across the street for $32 but no in/out privileges. Lobby/Check-in: It's an atrium style hotel with lobby on the 3rd floor. Check-in was easy. Lobby is nice with a bar and lots of seating with a whole other seating area to the side and behind the bar. They have their climate control too cold though in the Lobby. Dining: There's only one restaurant at lobby level with just a view of the building next door. Prices are very high but short of outrageous considering you are in a JW in the middle of San Francisco. We thought it would be hard for 2 people to use the $80 credit for breakfast. Not so when average breakfast entrees are in the $33-$38 range. We also ate dinner in the restaurant. The food for both breakfast and dinner was excellent. Not Michelin Star level of course, and overpriced, but actually pretty quite good for a hotel restaurant. Note there is a setup for a Buffet Breakfast (were told it is $52/person when open) but they didn't run it on Saturday or Sunday so there was a bit of a wait to get a seat in the restaurant for breakfast. Rooms: Rooms are decent size and well-furnished in good condition but although they don't feel outdated, they feel a little 'tired around the edges' so to speak. If you want that freshly renovated feel, you won't get it here. Bathroom size is going to vary as our large corner room with a sitting area with table had a very small bathroom and our neighbors had a smaller room but with a decent size bathroom. Street noise was minimal on the 12th floor but if you are sensitive to the noise, I wouldn't go any lower than floor 10. Views will vary but likely will be of the side of another building through what I call 'prison windows' which is a smaller than average window opening inset within a concrete looking surround. Bed was comfortable, mattress was good but felt slightly stiff/tired as though it was probably getting near then end of its lifespan but still quite comfortable. Linens very good. So overall good beds but nothing to write home about. I had read the reviews and although I typically stay in this level of a hotel I had tempered my expectations and so the stay was satisfying and served its purpose with no unpleasant surprises. If you want to be less prone to having an overcharged feeling: a) Use valet across the street or SpotHero app to find cheaper in/out parking nearby (if you have a car) and b) don't bother eating/drinking in the hotel -- go elsewhere to non-hotel restaurants to eat and drink.
