We checked into this motel on 12/5/2025. To start with, this place was dirty. The carpet was filthy. Second, there were no outlets next to the bed to plug in laptops or cell phones. Third, we could not understand the motel's office attendance language. Her English was hideous. We had to ask her to repeat helself several times. The issue was that the reservation wasn't under our name, it was made by our granddaughter. As we showed her the online receipt with my granddaughter's name on it, she kept asking questions without reviewing our printout. After finally getting it all squared out, we had to give her a credit card to hold the room. She said it was in case of damages. We understood but she later returned to the room asking for my granddaughter to fill out the form, she said it had to be filled out by the same person who booked it. We called our granddaughter (luckily she was in the area, as we were in Pullman for her graduation). The woman asked her for her credit card as well. We were outraged. We checked out early in the morning. We will never stay there again! By the way, the woman appeared to be either the owner or the owner's kin of the establishment. My coworker and I arrived late, about 10:30pm, but before the office closes at 11pm. Rang the bell several time because the door was locked. The young lady came from the back living area. Not pleasant but very professional and my chicken went relatively smooth. They did put $100 hold on my card HOWEVER, my colleague had to wait to check in because he had to clear something with our employer, and it took him about 15 minutes to get authorization. And she seemed very impatient about that. I don't know how his experience went afterwards. The room was clean had a nice fridge and microwave so I have no complaints about that. The only complaints I do have is that there were no ice machine no Wi-Fi and there were no outlets near the bed. After a failed AirBnb booking we were left to scramble for housing just as Move-In week began at WSU. Couldn't be picky and it was quite pricey as a last minute book but we were satisfied to stay here. It was clean and met our needs. Mendi is the lady at the front desk. No other Yelpers mentioned her name which means they didn't bother to find out. Check in was guarded but she greeted us every time we crossed paths thereafter. She and her 1-2 staff members work hard to maintain this place. No doubt Covid didn't help her last year. People should be more understanding - foreigners have a struggle born and bred Americans know absolutely nothing about. Would stay again if it's just me and the Kid. My sweetie graduated from WSU (several years ago) and still occasionally talks about Pullman, so we knew Pullman would be part of our (late June) eastern Washington adventure... but (until about 6pm that night) we weren't sure which day of the road trip would be spent there. When we figured out we'd be spending Friday night there, I opened up the Priceline iPhone app and started looking for a decent hotel that didn't cost too much. It was kind of hard to find one for some reason, but eventually I ended up booking a room here. When we arrived, we quickly got checked in and the only downside was that their agreement with Priceline is that you pay when you check-in. I was super confused because I am usually able to pay through Priceline, so for a long moment I thought we had been double charged. Doesn't look like that happened, though. The first few guests we saw looked like college students, but it was still pretty quiet. The room was big and I like that the mini-fridge and microwave were in a "kitchen" space next to the sink and bathroom. I believe they also had a flat-screen tv. I think I turned it on to see that it worked, but didn't end up watching anything. The shower and sink worked and I was pretty happy with the (foil?) shampoo/conditioner packets. The bed was big (queen) and comfortable enough. The negatives: - The room had a faint paint or cleaner smell, but I quickly got used to it and forgot about it. (Probably not a good thing.) - They are listed as a property with a pool, so I was sad to learn that they only open the pool during their busiest months. - They didn't offer up the wifi password like most hotels we've been to, so we didn't end up using their wifi. (We were tired when we checked in and didn't think to ask.) Fancy? No way! Good enough? Sure. Would I want to stay here again? Only if it's super cheap. read more

Be aware of the American travel inn. We called the hotel directly to book a room and were advised that we need to book online. I think they route you in this direction to trap you with their NO CANCELLATION POLICY.We booked a rom for two nights two months before we were going to Pullman. One minute later realized our dates were not correct. At this point two minutes earlier our credit card was charged. The manager answered the phone and said "it's cancelled don't worry about it.hotels.com is the platform you go through to book. We also called them they are an umbrella company of Expedia. We were told no problem we can refund you. Keep in mind, this reservation was canceled within 2 minutes. Expedia being the parent company of hotels one called the American travel inn to facilitate the cancellation. The manager told them not to issue a refund and that she was going to keep the $654.00dollars. When we called the hotel back we were hung up on. We drove from Seattle to see our daughter in college and went directly into the hotel the woman behind the counter the same one who had promised a refund and lied and who had instructed Expedia not to issue the refund was standing at the desk. We demanded a refund she said she couldn't help us only the manager could (she was and is the manager) we asked for the managers name she refused to give it to us. She is an Indian woman who plays dumb but is actually a skilled con artist. read more

To start off my stay, they were very rude but I let it slide because I was checking in fairly late. I wasn't expecting much for how much I paid but it was truly an awful experience. The bathroom door was very hard to open and it kept getting stuck. The quality of everything else was mediocre at best and it just wasn't very put together. Again, I wasn't expecting it to be luxurious in any way but it just wasn't the best of quality. I was only given one hand towel so I couldn't even shower and had to go to a friends place. I brushed it off but after I checked out, I got a call from them saying there were six towels left for me and they accused me of stealing them. They said they were going to call the police until my dad came in and talked with him. I rarely leave reviews because I'm really not picky but this was just an awful experience and I don't see myself staying here again. read more

The place has been recently renovated and great for the price. We stayed there for about 10 days so the lady gave us a weekly rate, much less than what we could find in any website. The rooms are clean, with new microwaves and a fridge. In fact, quite comparable in standards to a DoubleTree or Ramada, except its one-fourth the rate. The motel is managed by a strong empathetic lady, and we really appreciate her efforts to make us feel at home in her own inimitable style. The motel is located right at the heart of downtown in Pullman, Wash. and next to a great brunch restaurant, and very close to almost everything you need in this small town. read more

Quite possibly THE WORST hotel I've ever stayed at... ONLINE RESERVATIONS * Pre-pay only (non-refundable). * $400/night after fees! I get it, it was homecoming weekend, but it's a roach motel. Price gouging opportunists for sure. CHECK-IN PROCESS * Rude clerk/owner. * Clerk/owner grabbed the wrong reservation initially and became very confused and oddly accusatory. * Clerk/owner accused us of only listing 2 guests instead of 4 in the reservation for our room with 2 double beds (our online reservation clearly stated 4 guests). * My husband had to repeat his phone number and correct her 4-5 times before the clerk/owner finally got it right. * Clerk/owner scribbled on my map giving me unsolicited details. * Only 1 key (an actual metal key; not a card) for a 4 person room, and they charge you if you lose it or have to be let into your room. * No explanation about WiFi or any other amenities. * Lots of rules and fees... We learned that if we checked in after midnight we would have incurred a fee (this was not stated anywhere during the online reservation process); thankfully we checked in early. ROOM/ACCOMMODATIONS * Room and exterior could desperately use a renovation. * Non-smoking with no lingering smells (thank goodness). * Adequate space for 4 people. * Double beds. * Beds were fitted with old, dingy sheets, nasty fake velvet blankets, and crusty old comforters, and they were incredibly uncomfortable. * Bathroom wasn't properly cleaned; there was toilet paper and a yellowish tinge in the toilet, and hair particles in the sink. * Hot water had a peculiar gasoline-like smell. * Water temperature and pressure were adequate. * Soap was hard to find and inadequate (domino sized soap bars and only a few packets/pouches of cheap shampoo). No conditioner. * Unsure if there was a hairdryer in the room. * Closet and dressers were adequate. * Outlets were limited and poorly placed. * Lighting in bedroom was poor (2 lamps, nothing overhead) and not all light switches worked. * Lighting in bathroom was adequate. * Windows we're single-pane, so all the outside noise and cold air traveled freely into our room. * TV/Cable were adequate. * Phone in room, but we never used it, so we don't know if it worked. * Microwave in room, but unsure if it worked. * Coffee maker in room, but unsure if it worked. * Carpet was flat and sticky. * Alarm clock in room, but unsure if it worked. * Heater was adequate. * Mini-fridge was adequate. * Unsure if there was WiFi. * Cell service was adequate. * Ice machine down the hall/balcony was adequate, but ice bin had garbage in it. CLIENTELE * People in one of the rooms near us were yelling and banging on walls from ~1:30am until ~6:00am the first night of our stay, making it impossible to get any sleep. We heard them mention pulling out a gun and threatening other forms of violence, which made us scared for our lives. In hindsight we should have called the police. At the time we knew we couldn't count on the hotel clerk/owner to deal with the situation discretely, so we refrained from complaining. Also, oddly enough, with all the listed fines/fees, the hotel doesn't fine guests for noise complaints. * Some of the other guests seemed normal/safe, but we didn't spend much time at the hotel. LOCATION * Decent location, right next to Old European and just down from My Office Bar & Grill and Rancho Viejo. * Campus is about a 30 minute walk, but hilly, of course. * Close to highway. CHECKOUT PROCESS * Equally as bad as checking in. Glad to get away from this place. read more

The staff was nice. But the office smelled awful, and the room smelled just as bad. Like old smoke covered up with cheap perfume? I don't know but it looked really old and just didn't feel clean. I slept over the covers in my own blanket because I just got the feeling they may not wash the bedding (no proof of this). It just felt dirty and I didn't feel comfortable touching anything. It was definitely overpriced for what I got. I paid $75. The next night I went to cougar land motel and it was only $44 with my contractors ID (American travel lodge didn't offer a discount for workers) and the room was gorgeous and super clean and smelled amazing. Booked through hotels.com as a last min decision to go up to orientation a day earlier. After a very long drive we arrived just after midnight. You have to ring a bell for someone to open the door to the office. The lady who came to the door speaks very broken English! After that fiasco, we get to the room. You get what you pay for applies. 1 of the wash cloths had blood on it. One of the full size towels had something crusty on it, possibly paint or make up. The beds seemed clean enough. I just had to remind myself it was only for the night.. Just a few more hours.. Now let's get to check out. We left the room fairly clean, sans the slept in beds and we showered. At 8:45 am the same front desk lady was walking up and down the walk way, so I had my daughter go and hand her the key and let her know we were leaving. No more than 15 mins later she calls me to tell me/accuse me of bringing a dog in there. She says she saw dog hair on the towels, so we had a dog. Let me tell you right not the level of anger I felt, as I absolutely did not have a dog! After arguing with me she hangs up on me. So naturally, since I am aware there is an extra fee for pets, I drive back over. I absolutely am not paying their extra fee for a pet I didn't have after sleeping in that sad excuse for a room. She proceeded to then argue with me that someone told her we had a dog. After more arguing she let's it slip that I've already been charged for this dog that doesn't exist and she did in fact check the cameras and she didn't see a dog. NO, she did not offer to refund the money! I had to demand it! Conveniently, she couldn't get the machine to work. Then she says she needs to call the lady who charged my card cause she can't figure it out. Now I'd like to say that at no point in my stay did ever see anyone else. I have doubts of this mystery person. She says to me dont worry I'll take care of it and I can go. Naturally, I am a bit skeptical at this point I refuse to leave with out a receipt of my refund. Almsot 30 mins into this ordeal, my bank calls because of the level of activity on my card wearing me of fraud. As I am explaining to the bank what is going on, the fraudulent charges and the in ability to refund me, the front desk lady manages to figure it out. Not one time did she apologize! I 100% believe she was fraudulently trying to take money. read more

We stayed here during move in weekend because it was the only place left in town. My husband and I were making bets on how bad the room was going to be after taking a look at the pool. The pool was empty and had been for sometime by the amount of garbage in the bottom of it including an office chair! The room smelled like 30 years of stale smoke and the bed was only a full size. The furniture was rickety and old. Definitely not a room you want to spend time in beyond the necessity of shelter. Knowing I didn't want to get stuck staying at this hotel again I immediately began looking for accommodations for mom's weekend in April. Wouldn't you know the only place with a vacancy was this hotel for $345 per night! That's double what we paid for this stay! I agree with the other reviewer that called the owners opportunists. Was going to give it a 2-star based on the fact that I couldn't get them to answer the phone by dialing zero from my room. (I wanted to get the Wi-Fi password which they hadn't provided me when I checked in). On a whim, I called the front desk from my cell phone and voila, they answered on the first ring. Amazing. The 2nd night I couldn't get the Wi-Fi to work no matter what I tried. Basic motel setup plus crappy front desk service plus crappy Wi-Fi gets a 2-star. ... until they called me this evening (having checked out this morning) to claim I had stolen a towel. There was only a single towel in the bathroom to start with, which I had thought odd, but as I was staying by myself, it hadn't been an issue. This place is horrible. I call the first time to make a reservation, he can't understand me so it takes a while to make the reservation, which is fine. I am patient. I made sure he had the right date. Then, the day comes, I call to say I have a reservation and he says I don't. My boyfriend calls a few minutes later and he says they don't have a reservation under my name again. I figure I made it for the wrong date and decided to stay at another place. I call American travel inn again to make sure he didn't book me under the wrong date and to cancel it. He says I do have a reservation under the same day I originally had it and now it's a $40 cancel fee! He told me I had to pay it even though he told me I didn't have a reservation TWICE! Now I have to wait for it to come through on my card before I can dispute it. If they charge me the full amount I don't even know what I'm going to do. Even better, I call to ask for a manager. He says he doesn't know when they'll be in and asks why it matters for me to even talk to a manager and why can't I just tell him. Even when I say I only want to talk to a manager. Worst booking experience ever - Booked two nights for 300 dollars because of football weekend, but could no longer go, not a big deal, I was willing to still pay for the room since I had already booked it. However, the hotel said they would re-post the room on bookings.com, and if anyone booked it they would refund my money. I watched them re-post the room (it was the only room with a queen), and then it got booked by someone and when myself and bookings.com personnel called to attempt to get a refund they refused. So now I have paid 300 dollars and the hotel has made another 300 dollars and refuses to give me my money back. I don't know how this can be legal, i didn't even cancel my reservation. If I had known they would be this shady and 100% use me to make another 300 dollars I would have just not shown up. Ridiculous. read more

BED BUGS! We arrived to this hotel and within 2 hours I had a bed bug on my hand. I quickly went to the office and spoke with the owner. He pretended to not speak English well but I found out that was a lie. He also didn't tell me he was the owner until the police were at the hotel and called him out for this game he was playing. He stated that he would refund both rooms if we left immediately, which we did. Now Travelocity it trying to get ahold of the hotel to process the refund and the front desk keeps putting them on hold and not coming back to the phone so that they don't have to refund the money. The rooms are dirty, smell horrible, the bathroom is disgusting. There isn't a shower head but just something that looks like a pipe coming straight out of the wall. I strongly suggest you stay clear of this place. read more

This is a HORRIBLE no-tell motel. It sits right on the highway and the exterior is old and looks like the set of a horror movie. The rooms enter off of the parking lot and the doors are flimsy, do not fit perfectly in the frames, and only hae a single deadbolt to close it. Plus they use real keys--no fancy electronics here (not even a computer at the front desk). Basically the door could be kicked in by a strong wind much less a real person. The rooms smell of urine. There is absolutely no sound proofing--even with the door shut and locked the road is so loud that you might as well be sitting in the middle of the freeway. The front desk has a sign that says that there are no refunds after the first night has been paid for, suggesting that this motel is used for less than legal purposes on a regular basis. And they charge an outrageous amount for such a sub-par experience. Its safer, and cheaper, to stay a few miles away in a nice hotel in Colfax or Moscow than to stay here. And don't bother complaining--once they have your money, the front desk staff magically no longer speaks English and can't possibly help you. The only person who can help you is the mythical manager, who is NEVER there. read more

This motel is by far the worst place to reside in Pullman. First off, the place is a total dump. We were looking for affordable rates and this was the best we could find, but boy did we get what we paid for. The staff could barely speak English and were extremely rude. The shower felt like you were standing a plastic bucket while being sprayed by a hose. The so called "pool" was basically a hole in the ground with nothing but a office chair and debris in it. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner were all given in small, tin foil packets. To add to it, i was worried about catching bedbugs and being murdered while sleeping. Would not recommend. read more

On graduation weekend, we paid $159 a night for a two bed room. We found a hotel we liked better and was cheaper but ATI said to cancel we'd have to pay the full price for two nights. So we stayed. The desk clerk was very hard to understand but was nice. The rooms were dated and cheaply-built but clean and comfortable. All we needed were beds and a bathroom, so that was fine. There's a good Chinese restaurant with a talkative and enjoyable owner up the street and an European restaurant next door with very good food (and aebleskivers!) from Eastern Europe. read more

I mistakenly booked a room for, what I thought, was Mom's Weekend 2016, but I accidentally entered 2015 instead of 2016. I called within the hour to fix my mistake. They were unwilling to work with me. The MOTEL cost me $800 for 2 nights - a complete rip off. After days of them giving me the run around and telling me to call back when the manager was in, I did, they would tell me to call back another time, I did, they would tell me another time. I think they thought they would get rid of me. They eventually told me that they would change my reservation from 2015 (which was in 3 weeks) to 2016. I asked for a confirmation number from Jesse. He said to call the manager, Mona. When we called Mona she confirmed that the reservation had been changed and she gave us a confirmation number. We asked for her to email that so we had it in writing. She couldn't right then because their internet was down. We waited a couple of days and tried to call back again only to get the run around again. I went over this August to drop my son off and stopped by their office to get the confirmation in writing. Nobody was in the office. I waited 5 minutes or so and eventually a maid came in with her cart and with her child (dressed only in a diaper). She said she couldn't help me but would have the manager call me. When Mona did call me she said there was no reservation under my name. She acted like she had never heard of me! I told her I had a confirmation number and I reminded her that I had talked to both her and Jesse many times. When I gave her the confirmation number she told me that was for the reservation for 2015 and that it had already passed and was considered a no-show! Argh!! I would NOT recommend this place. I WOULD recommend telling everyone you know to read all of the Yelp comments BEFORE they book. They WILL NOT work with you. They only want your money. Watch out for this place if you are in Northern Idaho for school event. Normally, according to their website, they charge $60 per night. However, last weekend when another hotel screwed up our reservation, we were forced to take a room at this establishment, at $229 per night. This was move-in weekend for the university, and I'm sure that's why the rates were jacked up. While we were told the rooms were recently redone, the housekeeping was not up to par. Unknown brown substances spattered on bathroom wall, and the floor in their was also dirty. The internet was very poor. Couldn't keep a connection and we also received a warning on our devices that the network was not secure and hackers had been detected. No coffee maker in the room, which is insulting considering what the room cost. The lady at the front desk... an older lady, was rude and pretty much acted like she didn't care what we thought of the place. Would not recommend this place. Unless you are interested in paying a lot of money for rude service, dirty room, no internet, and driving to get your morning coffee. read more

Unbelievably rude treatment I received from the front desk lady!!! Incredible -- do NOT stay here. I had arrived late -- 11:05 pm after an eight hour drive, and knowing I'd be getting into town late, I'd booked in advance on Expedia. The woman didn't have a record of my reservation. Now, while it was inconvenient and annoying, I probably would have understood if she had said something like: "I'm sorry for the inconvenience and I'm sure you could work it out later with Expedia, but our policy is to charge the card if we don't see your reservation." Instead, she said "no -- is no reservation. You want room? You give me card." She barely looked through the papers for reservations, and also complained to me that she was tired. I showed her the electronic confirmation of my reservation on my phone, but she persisted to say "no -- no reservation. I need card." As it was so late, I figured I could sort it out later. As I checked out the next day, she refused to look again through the reservation record to see if maybe she had missed my reservation. When I told her that I had indeed been charged twice, her entire manner with me was as if I had done something wrong and was trying to pull a fast one. Horrifically and unconscionably rude behavior!
