I had to stop here due to some nasty weather driving back from the airport. The hotel is decent for the price. Although 60$ on a Sunday night in the middle of winter seemed a little on the high side. You can, however, get a 15% discount if you go over to the casino and apply for one of their players cards. Beds were fairly comfortable, room was clean, and they offer a continental breakfast with a make your own waffle station. There is also a pool although I didn't get a chance to check it out. If for some reason you're coming to Turtle Lake to gamble, this is probably a good option for you due to proximity. Otherwise, might be worthwhile to shop around. read more

We paid early but couldn't get card keys until 4 pm. When we came back we were informed by the front desk receptionist that she had undercharged us thinking it was Sunday not Friday and needed 19 dollars and change because of the higher rate on Fridays.She was rude and unprofessional and her incompetence wasn't acceptable nor was expecting and demanding the 19 dollars for her mistake. We had our hands full with luggage but she was worried about fixing her mistake that she should have compted.Definitely gonna stay somewhere else next time we are in the area. Don't do it. Reserved a certain room but it wasn't available when we got there. No discounts or anything to make up for it. Was there for a wedding in the area and it sounds like they just give out what rooms are available as people arrive, not what was reserved. Rooms are outdated, beds uncomfortable. read more

All I can say is it is very old inside and out. Doesn't appear to have been remodeled in decades since it was built. As for breakfast it is just some bagels, instant oatmeal packs, and cereal. Not really a breakfast for most people. The only decent thing is the price as a week here was cheaper then the chain hotels in rice lake. If you don't want your neck to hurt every morning bring a pillow with you. read more

with discount and tax we paid $130 which i think is reasonable for the area. the room really wasn't bad and i thought clean enough. bed was ok. why is the toilet so low? anyways. i was told they're supposed to start working on the pool first week of august. however, the question is will that take another three years to get done. the continental breakfast was cup of fruit coffee juice milk and bread and plain bagels to toast with jam pb or butter also yogurt and prepackaged muffins. we stay here because of the proximity to the casino. that's the only reason. read more

Horrible customer service. Had a wedding to attend, and we Walked in to see if we could check in 1 hour before 4:00 so i could get dressed, lady behind desk says "NOPE!" She didn't offer any type of explanation or anything. I asked if we could check in early she said the system was down (which was obviously a flat out lie) When I asked where I could get ready for a wedding since i drove 2 hours to get here, she pointed to a unisex bathroom in which every other wedding guest was standing outside of to get ready. I ended up getting dressed in my car. Do not book a stay with these people. Go across the street to Country Lodge. read more

I will never stay here again. The room was disgusting. We had to change our own sheets at 10 PM on the day we checked in. There was dirt and what appeared to be pubic hair and semen in the bedding. Sure the rate was cheap but that doesn't mean that the property should be in complete disrepair. read more

Whether you like this hotel depends on your expectations. Hotel St Croix is the closest hotel to the casino. Well within walking distance. The few times I've stayed I haven't found it anything like you would expect for a casino hotel. They apparently count on people wanting to be within walking distance of the casino and therefore haven't invested much effort into making it an better class of hotel. It's basic, probably overpriced for what you get, and reminds me of an old college dorm. On the other hand, the staff has been spot-on outstanding when I have had to stay there because the other nearby hotels were sold out. If you plan on spending your time at the casino, and don't really plan on being in the hotel for any length of time because of that, then this is probably a good choice of places to park your bags. read more

It is what it is. It's a $60 hotel room. The bathroom had a puke pink colored shower curtain that has seen better days, to go with the emerald city green linoleum floor. Stayed in a non smoking room that reeked of smoke. Temperature control was non existent. Turned the heat on when we left by the time we returned to the room it was so hot I was nearly sick. It was on the low setting. Had to use the a/c to cool it down enough to go to sleep. On the bright side the breakfast was free, the staff was pleasant, and they had a nice warm shuttle to take us to the casino on a freezing cold night. I'd stay again for the casino purposes but wouldn't recommend it if your staying in the area for any other reason. read more

After waiting 75 minutes to check in, we found the toilet had not been cleaned, screws sticking out of the wall, and the sheets on one bed had not been changed and looked like 2 homeless guys had a love fest there. When I went to the desk to get a new room, I was told "I didn't clean that room, sir". Translation: I don't give a crap if your room was clean or not, and won't find someone that does. Instead of calling in to release the rooms when each was cleaned, they made 50 people wait in the lobby until EVERY room in the wing was cleaned. That's right, your room is clean now, but you have to wait over an hour to get it! Check out was 11 am, if you can't have the rooms clean by 3 pm, you need to hire more staff! The free breakfast was ok, but you get to eat it in the employee break room. Sure enough, it looks like your typical employee break room. The lobby looks like my brother in law built it, and there were racks of towels parked all over. They have not put a penny into this place in 10 years, other than the pool. Stay across the street at the County Lodge for a few bucks more. They don't have signs in their rooms telling you it's illegal to use drugs in them...... read more

As others have noted, if you're here for the casino and do not plan to spend any time in the room, it's an ok place. We stayed here because of the pool (which is a decent size) and it was a mid-point to meet up with the in-laws for Easter. Unfortunately due to the buffet in the Casino not having a direct exit, the kids were not allowed in to the buffet so we had to settle for the hotel free breakfast as our Easter "brunch". Had we known this prior, we would not have chosen to meet in Turtle Lake. read more

You get what you pay for, we paid $80 due to a weekend stay. I am giving it 2 stars for the very friendly staff. The bed was comfortable, but it was too warm in the room and we couldn't get it to cool down. The tv was very small - funny. It was clean , however due to nothing new or upgraded made it seem dirty. This is your basic hotel no frills, that you remember staying at with your folks when you were younger - and the decor inside and outside has not changed since then. Oh.... and the room number on the outside of the hotel, near each of the room windows, had my wife a little concerned...and the screen on our window was not completely on. Sorry front desk, we should have notified somebody but we were in a hurry to get going. On the flip side this should be part of inspections and maintenance. read more

The entire room was damp, from the carpet to the sheets. Trim was loose in areas and coming apart, window screen was ajar and broken., room in very poor condition.....extremely uncomfortable place to stay, never again. Wish I had paid attention to the other reviews before staying!! read more

Where to start with this place-the room we had was decent and that's why I can justify giving it one star. We booked a block of rooms here for our wedding and when guests would call they were constantly being told there were no rooms left or there was no block under those names, which was not true. They would call the next day and be able to book a room under our block. When I got there to check into our room they didn't have a reservation for us and then were incredibly rude about it saying it wasn't her fault and she was not involved in booking the room. After waiting 15 minutes for them to find a room we finally got checked in. I had a few bridesmaids staying with me the night before the wedding and they insisted they needed to charge me extra because there were too many people in the room. Kind of ridiculous since they lost our reservation in the first place and I never told them how many people were staying Friday night. Lastly, we were standing outside and a mouse ran up the wall and into the hotel. I would recommend making reservations elsewhere if possible. read more
