Came here for dinner and didn't like the food, though to be fair we didn't order pizza. Maybe that would've been better. My friend and I stopped by on Sunday around 7 pm and got seated outside within a couple minutes. It was packed when we walked up, so I was surprised we were seated so quickly. In addition to pizzas, they have a wide variety of dishes including appetizers, soup, pastas, and meat dishes, including some very interesting ones like rabbit stew and wild boar chops. Unfortunately both of these were sold out, so I got the lamb chops for 46 francs. My friend started with the tomato soup ($11) and half a grilled chicken ($25). The theme of the night was bland food. The tomato soup came out first. It was very thin and watery and barely had any salt. The packaged bread that it came with was some of the hardest bread I've ever tried. Not a great start to the meal. Then came the entrees. My lamb chops were okay, but a bit overcooked and very bland. At this point I finally gave in and asked for salt, which made my dish taste a bit better. Portions are small for this dish, especially given the price and the fact that it doesn't come with veggies or anything else on the side. For the chicken, in addition to it being bland, it was also quite dry, so neither of us ended up enjoying our entrees that much. Stopped by Pizzeria Da Salvi after finding Alte Post was closed, and it turned out to be a solid choice. The pizza had great flavor and came out quickly. Very broad selection of different pizzas. We also shared the veal, incredibly tender and delicious. A++ While it was second to Alte Post for us, it's definitely one of the best spots in Grindelwald. Worth a visit! read more

My husband and I ordered the gluten free pizza here. He rated his 3/5. He ordered the prosciutto with mushrooms and cheese. I can't have dairy which probably contributed to my dislike. I ordered the diavola with no cheese. I found the crust to be unimpressive (not homemade in taste for sure). The marinara was just completely lacking flavor to me (like tomato sauce out the can). We returned from Jungfrau and stopped for a late lunch in Grindelwald. This spot was easy to reach from Terminal station-- 102 bus dropped us right in front. The spicy tomato soup was a great start, and the spaghetti with garlic, mushrooms, and broccoli was flavorful. The bruschetta was hot and tasty, and the boar entrée didn't disappoint. We had two different pizzas both delicious. These are more like what you expect in Italy. The red sauce was outstanding the crust firm but not tough and it was full really full of toppings. Really outstanding. They were very busy when we arrived yet the service was very fast and done with a smile. Our salads came out almost immediately after our water. Salad was light fresh and with a deliciously light Italian dressing. The outside is nice with comfortable seating. Views are nice. There was Salvi I think the owner greeting guests at the entrance. Outstanding. Not sure how others had a bad experience here this is the best pizza I have had in Switzerland no question. read more

Stopped in for a small bite. I don't think they were happy we ordered two large pizzas to share between my two daughters and my husband. We wanted a carafe of tap water and I was told, "we have still." I knew then she was going to bring me bottled water even though I pointed to the tap water on the menu and clearly said tap water. Then when the check was brought and I was paying with card she made sure to tell me that I can add a tip. Haven't had this happen at all on our trip to Switzerland. The pizza was ok. Eating at this place reminded me of all the school lunch pizzas I had growing up that made me initially hate pizza. My group and I ordered 4 pizzas, one for each of us, and they each turned out greasier than the next. Beyond that, the pizzas were lacking in flavor and artistry - I'm confident that I could've made similar products if they threw me into the kitchen on the spot. Went to Jenny's Ski Bar which is the outdoor apres ski venue at the hotel. Fabulous place! Great atmosphere, and right at the bus stop when you come down from the Grindelwald First Tram. Jenny is so friendly and welcoming. Great apres drink specials. I highly recommend this after a hard day (or not so hard day) on the slopes. Gave this place 2 stars only because my wife liked the pizza. Don't bother coming here. You will constantly find yourself swatting at flies. They even have automatic fly swatters on your table to keep them away. Not sure why the restaurant don't proactive address the fly problem when they already know. read more

**STAY AWAY... FLIES EVERYWHERE!!!** We came to this city on a tour and stopped by this place for lunch. We ordered a large pizza (32 cm in diameter). Once the pizza arrived, flies came out of the woodwork. These were not standard flies that I am used to. They were aggressive and very diligent in trying to get to our food. IT WAS BAD. There were about 20 or so flies attacking us. It got so bad that I told my wife to just eat and I will try and fan them away. That didn't work with the constant fanning so we asked for our food to go. One of the waitresses saw that we were fanning the flies away but didn't do anything. I know she saw because she looked at directly at me as I was using my napkin to fight the flies off. Another waitress brought out a to go container and said "sorry about the flies" and placed some kind of plant at our table. I think it was to keep the flies away. Gee thanks. How about doing that when you brought out our food!? Needless to say, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT. Not too bad but not great either. This review is definitely limited bc we only had pizza and a few apps. We had calamari which was very chewy and a bit too thick sliced. The dip was very good though. We also had the bruschetta and it was just 3 very large slices of bread with oil and tomato slices. I've DEFINITELY made better bruschetta myself. As for the pizza to be honest I was very disappointed, to keep it simple it was undercooked and too heavy on the cheese and toppings. Lighten the toppings and let it sit for a bit more and I'm sure it would have been great. read more

Da Salvi was very good and service was great. We had the arugula (the English translation has it as "rocket") salad with ricotta. The arugula was fresh and the ricotta was fantastic. We also ordered the fried calamari and those were good too. For pizza we had the Margherita, Four Cheese, and Prosciutto. It was a little disappointing not having fresh basil in the Margherita but the tomato sauce and the crust were very good. The prosciutto was more like ham or Canadian bacon but not bad. The Four Cheese pizza was very good. Let's talk about the flies. Yes, if the wind is not blowing there are a lot of flies but that is Grindelwald in the summer, because all of the farming land--which is a lot including green areas around chalets and hotels--are covered in manure regularly. You could say it's because of the summer months, but I haven't seen (or noticed) a fly for the last few days while I've been in Grindelwald, apparently they've all gathered at this restaurant. The service was great, we had a very friendly waitress. The food was marginal. My bf had the half chicken which was pretty good, I had a shrimp pasta dish with cream sauce which I didn't personally enjoy, but may have liked something else? :/ I hate to write a negative review but for the love of god do something about the flies! read more

What a great restaurant! Stopped in our first night in Grindelwald and had an excellent schnitzel. Friend had an very good eggplant parmigiana. Service was very friendly, helpful, and made us feel very welcome. The second night we came back and had several pizzas. WOW! As good as any pizza we would get in NY or NJ. Salvatore the owner Was very good to us. We came back a third night and Salvatore welcomed us like we were old friends. " My Americano friends" and gave us big hugs. That night Salvatore made us Veal Parmigiana! He said it was an American thing. Highly recommend you go and tell him the Americanos sent you. read more

My hub and I stopped here after spending the afternoon on First. We worked up an appetite hiking and riding the downhill bikes. Da Salvi is located right next to the Trottie bike return and we rode by during dinner. The wonderful smells locked us in right away. We returned our bikes and got an outside table with no waiting. I had pizza with ham, pepperoni, mushrooms and artichokes and the hub had the salsiccia pizza. Both were very good!! Service was good. Food came quickly. 5 stars :) read more

We ate here on Christmas Eve shortly after arriving in Grindelwald and everything was great. We were promptly greeted and sat down then ordered and had our food/drinks within 10-15 min.
