I reviewed this place sometime ago, but it is under new ownership so I thought I would add a second review. I think the new owners have done a fantastic job of keeping the place great. The tacos were a 10 out of 10, the fire pit was awesome outside and I note several little improvements wherever I look. Under the old ownership, things seemed to be slipping toward the end, but all that is fixed now. I haven't been at this place for a couple of years and was passing through so I thought I'd give it a shot, and I'm super glad I did. It is once again on my list of cool places to stop in my travels. We've been living in the Cle Elum area for years now, and when this establishment opened up, we've been wanting to stop by and enjoy a beer or cider. Well... we finally did it... and shame on us for waiting so long. Such a very cool place and the vibe was great. An open concept inside, with a couple spots outdoors as you enter inside. My wife and I decided to split our meals and we ended up ordering the Chicken Tinga Street Tacos, as well as, a platter of Chicken Nachos. Both very delicious and the cilantro is simply supreme on this! The radishes was a nice touch, with some sauce over corn tortillas with that Cotiga cheese. I would prefer flour, but I'll take it! We also had the Saison which was light, a bit dry, crisp and sort of lemony. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves and the neighboring tables. Had some good conversations with local folks. Food was great. Atmosphere was fun. Service was great. I did think the wine was a little expensive for just a glass of wine at a brewhouse. I do realize when you go to a brewhouse it's about the beer, but some of us don't drink beer and we choose wine as the alternative and that was a little spending Otherwise great little place!! read more

Well, as yous know, getting four or five stars from me is not an easy feat. However, when I do have an experience that leaves me happy I must express my joy - this was my recent experience at Mule & Elk! It started with the monthly movie night. It was on Friday, after sundown, so sabbath had started. I talked with Shawna, and asked if it was ok for us to come even though we would not be buying anything. She was so gracious, told us to come, and while we were here, made us feel welcome! I promised we would be back! Today, we decided to go for lunch! We were greeted by the sweetest girl, with a beautiful genuine smile! Kaylie took great care of us, even sharing her favourites on the menu! We didn't feel like strangers though this was only our second time being here and we had never met her. Lunch was grand! They are definitely growing and stretching their repertoire, which is lovely. They have brilliant pub grub, while maintaining an eclectic variety of options that make you want to try them all. Hubby had the classic cheese toasty and tomato soup! I had a caprese sandwich and a cup a soup. It was all quite tasty. One of the great things I like about this place is they want to make it family friendly, more like a true pub (like I'm used to in Ireland), less like a bar or tavern! They are trying some new and exciting things to bring options to the community! It's not too loud or overwhelming, it is nice and bright during the day and pleasant in the evening. This is probably the best place to stop in Cle Elum. The people here are so friendly and the spot is great. We had three families with young kids and it was so easy to hang out. We saw other families stopping too and they had a blast with the outdoor jenga among other things. The beer they serve is really good, it made us want to keep coming back for more. "The Devil" is something I wish more breweries would do, it is so rare to find a strong blonde ale. The food is great too. The vegetable plate it huge and has a lot that you won't find in other places. Pretzels are so good, though they could dial the cheese down on the jalapeno cheese pretzel. We will definitely be coming back again. read more

This is a rather hidden brewery in Cle Elum, but very close to some other grat establishments on the same street: Mike's Saloon, Owen's Meats, Caboose, and several others. The best part to me is their great service. They are always friendly and welcoming. They are also kid friendly which is a plus, at least for me. The food is decent, but limited based on their small kitchen area in the back. We ordered sandwiches which were very good; they tasted like they were made in a panini press with high-quality bread. My family especially liked their pickles, which were awesome - and I'm not usually a fan of pickles! They have a TV for watching sports but it wasn't intrusive, and a nice inside area for the colder months as well as a nice patio for the warmer months. I wasn't a huge fan of their beer options, but I believe it was just a particular hop that they were using in their IPA the last few times I visited. I will definitely return. read more

A group (4) of us stopped into Mule & Elk for a beer while in the area. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Indoors is nice sized for a brewery. A large projection screen is mounted on the wall. Light bites are available to order and eat with your beer. Orders are placed at the counter. Table service isn't offered. My wife had a couple Liberty Golden's for $5 each. I had a couple Cooper Lake IPA's for $5 each. I didn't see that Mule & Elk canned beer could be purchased to-go. Interaction with staff was minimal but friendly. read more

Love this cute little brewery! We all got flights to try many of the brews they offer and it did not disappoint! I love their little serving boards for the flights and they also offer some snacks as well. We got a jalapeño pretzel (not pictured) and it complemented the beer perfectly. read more

Husband really enjoyed the blonde and I really liked the dark and mild. It's a dark beet that drinks very light. If you are a dark beer lover you could drink it all day. They have a very cute patio which would be lovely if it were not 110 degrees out! Cute place worth stopping by! read more

Drive by this brewery many times and finally stopped, glad I did. They have moderate size outdoor area with games and seating really nice touch with a backyard feel. The indoor space is large and comfortable. Beer was good my wife and I had 1 each since we were just passing through, would have like to try more. Wow! Mule & Elk Brewing was a newer find for me as far as breweries go. I didn't even know there were any breweries in Cle Elum. This brewery is fairly new from what I understand so Cle Elum is no longer craft brewery deprived. I got their Saison which is a gold beer... perfect for summertime. Ingredients include fresh pepper, lemon and oak. There is a slight ring of the wine barrel it was fermented in as well. Definitely a delightful beer! The bartender was super friendly. He was curious as to what I was doing with my weekend and I told him I was going to tour the craft breweries in Yakima on my own. He provided some great recommendations as to where I should go and what the best breweries were in Yakima which was very informative. All around a very nice guy and as far as the brewery goes some great, quality beer. After concluding my tour of Yakima breweries Mule & Elk actually proved to be one of my favorites while on that trip! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their beer! read more

Great place to stop in and have a delicious beer. We wanted to break up our drive between Winthrop and Olympia and this was the perfect spot. We were traveling with two dogs and wanted to bring them with us. There's a lovely outdoor space but it was too cold for us to sit outside. Great thing is dogs are welcome inside! We also weren't sure if they had food so we stopped and got our own, which they gladly accommodated. If we had known they serve pizza and other small snacks like a meat and cheese board we would've purchased there. All the beers we tried were great and we even took home a growler because the Dark Mild was so delicious. What a great little establishment! It was a little difficult to locate from the street being that the signage kind of blends in and the brewery entrance is tucked away behind another business. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely friendly and very welcoming to us and our dog! Really cool small nano brewery in Cle Elum. Head brewer is very friendly and their beers are very good. Saison is very complex and unique flavor.
