Ken sold his ownership at the end of the year. he knew something and should have share it with me. this facility has excellent equipment, but the most rude and unfriendly staff and membership of any gym I've ever been in. 6 months in, I wish i could withdraw. The owner is in a wheelchair and I ve a family member who's also in a wheelchair and spoke thinking we might have something in common. No. He's bitter, angry, rarely smiles, looks away if you try to even try to make eye contact He acts like I put him in that chair and he's doing me a favor by letting me use his gym. Ridiculous. The trainers are the most common people in the gym. Initally they speak to you in hopes you hire them and when you dont they blackball you. This is the most unfriendly gym I've ever attended and would leave if they would refund my remaining money. So disappointed. Just a a sespool of sadness. i regret joining. No way I would renew and im 2 blocks away. Awful people and i don't know how they are still in business.

I see no wiping if equipment. Dark gray tired looking space. Trainers are contractors and no training is included in membership. After some quick waiver signing & paperwork, I joined the 6:30p class where Matt was coaching. Matt was extremely attentive. He gave very specific cues and tailored his coaching based on the athlete's abilities. He remembered my name during the whole class, thanked me for dropping in, and made sure to tell me "Good Job" as well as a Good Bye. I am an experienced crossfitter, and I did appreciate that he watched my form and didn't just comment to make a comment. He was very purposeful without being over bearing. He gave me encouragement as the workout got tougher, and was paying attention enough to know my pace & to know how many more I could get in before the time cap. The workout was extremely challenging and definitely appropriate for all levels. There was a class warm up and some mobility work, which is always welcomed, especially after traveling & sitting all day. I found the amount of work (warmup, mobility, strength, WOD) to be extremely mindful of time & effectiveness. Things weren't just crammed in to fit in. The flow of the class was smooth and not over worked. I did purchase a FitAid & a Progenex Recovery packet and the check out process for that was fast. The facility was extremely clean and well maintained. The restrooms were clean, water was cold, rollers were available, lots of weights and 15kg bars, and there was lots of chalk available. Although I didn't use the showers, I was told there were 3. They use WODify and the WOD was posted on a large TV. There was a traditional whiteboard with LOTS of goals and you could tell it is a dynamic box. Members were conversing before and after which is always a good sign of a robust community. I would highly recommend this box for drop ins or even if you are new to Crossfit. I can see why they won the best of Atlanta award and I will definitely return when I am back in town.

A few months later, I came across an ad for Burn Druid Hills (if you haven't guessed, they are a franchise gym) with a special promo for a month. Given my great experience in the past, I jumped on this offer, completed a free trial class and then immediately signed up for the promo month. The rest is history and I've been part of the Burn community ever since, over 100 camps under my belt . They have great staff plus knowledgeable and personable instructors and the location is clean. Even though this is a group setting (camp/class), instructors pay attention to each individual and push them to do better! Classes are a combination of weight and functional HIIT training. Every week is different so there is never any monotony, and the camps are high energy and fun! You work out together as a group and build friendships and community! In addition to the workouts, they offer focus meetings where each member can meet with an instructor to talk through and define goals, understand their body composition and measurements and work towards getting better! And guess what - they have free childwatch while you work out. It's really a no-brainer. 45 mins to focus on yourself and no worry about kids, distractions etc. Plenty of free parking, complimentary towels, shower room, and the best community!!

Everyone is moving at there own pace but it still felt very competitive which I loved. I'll definitely be coming back. It's a good balance of cardio and weights. We moved every 6 mins and the floor block was lower body and abs which I loved. Everything is monitored via HRM - giving you this cool stat report after.

The lady at the front desk was also so helpful and welcoming - I forgot my instructor's name but man she was so energetic and so encouraging! She calls and praises everyone out by their name which makes it feel a bit more personal. She kicked my butt so hard, but it was so satisfying. After an hour of HIIT training, I lost 700 calories.
