She, with your permission, helps ea person get the pose right -- hand placement, foot placement, etc and the use of blocks to help support people who need it (me!) Because of the help with technique, I can take the poses home and do them myself as well. The yoga studio is located where the Janie Rae Dance Studio is right next to the Fire Station across from Vincent's Pizza. Street parking is available. It's $10 a class, but they also have Living Social Deals and class cards, which give you classes free. They have hot yoga, yoga for beginners, vinyasa, candlelight yoga and mommy to be (prenatal)/ mommy and me yoga. They also have special events such as wine yoga (Yoga in a Bottle) and yoga in the park during the summer time. The studio has a neighborhood feel; it has holiday parties and is more intimate than Core Power Yoga etc. I've taken the hot yoga class, which is taught by Bill Sr - owner of the studio, and the intro to pranayama class, but I don't see that on the schedule anymore. Both were great! I sat outside waiting to see people walking with mats and I followed. It's a very small space. I was definitely the outsider. The instructor knew everyone by name and where they like to set up in the class. I admire the following this tiny spot has made. I will say, I am not a fan of partnering up in a class. It's cool for them. They know each other. I, on the other hand, am uncomfortable. My practice is for me. Not saying this is a bad thing. Just not my thing. The instructor is very knowledgable. She seems to be inspired by the students yoga breakthroughs.

I hadn't noticed her lack of experience until a woman a bit older than her was my instructor one night. Her teaching was easier to understand, she was more helpful to the participants, she seemed to be paying attention to everyone's ability in certain moves and offering modified versions. I know Pilates can be expensive so if you already have an LA member ship it may be worth it, $99 a month for minimum 3 months, I liked it but just couldnt commit to the time and I was lacking certain physical abilities to where I can't keep up or do a lot without pain, not the classes fault, my own inabilities.

This was one of those "Oh...so THATS why they have a deal" places. They greet you with tea, which is nice, but the location overall is basically impossible to find. There is a very small sign that gives you a general idea of where it probably is, but this is also in the middle of a super busy Bustleton Ave. Now, the massages. The paperwork they have you fill out is funny, but kind of a red flag that they aren't super professional - one of the things they ask you to initial actually says "You agree to and understand that this massage session is completely non-sexual" - if you need to put that on a form...there's a problem. So we are led into a room to get changed - and to basically put our things on the floor. The tables are comfortable enough, but most of the covering is papertowel. The two men that provided the actual massages were clearly not trained. They meant well, were very nice guys, but had no idea what they were doing. I am not exaggerating when I say that my "masseuse" spent 15+ minutes on my rear end, and nothing else. At first I thought "Ok, maybe working out the sciatic nerve?" And then no, he's just rubbing my rear end. I had clearly written on the form "upper back, shoulders" - worked on once. The guy who was "massaging" my wife, was dressed like he just came home from a labor job. Again, very nice person, however when you are going to get a massage - old-faded t-shirt and work pants just don't scream "professional" or "holistic" like this place claims to be. Overall I can't recommend even giving this a try - saying to yourself "well maybe this guy just had a bad experience" - the people that work there are not trained, do not dress as if they are there to provide a service, and they have this really odd need to tell you 4 or 5 times "do not worry, you will be covered the whole time, but keep on your underwear, this is professional, you'll be covered up" - I get it, you give massages. So thumbs up on being nice guys, and a nice space once you find it - but I'm a nice guy, and that doesn't qualify me to be something im not trained for. Skip this one.

We went into a room decorated like a medieval castle. We had hooks onto which we could hang our clothes. The massage therapists came in and began our Swedish massage. Very good massge! I'm a deep tissue massage guy, but this worked all the knots out. We the got into our robes, which I found a bit small. Off to the wrap room! Mike came in and applied volcanic ash and wrapped us up like a couple of burritos. About 30 minutes later, we were done. Off into the shower we went. Kind of small for two people. Then a bit of hemp oil to smooth out the akin and off we went. The place was clean, the people friendly and good at their jobs. I'd probably go back despite the traffic. Go visit and enjoy yourself!
