I went here on 5/17/2021 , we waited 30minutes for our lunch -which we accepted . I ordered fish tacos which it came out with 2 small tacos . The first taco tasted ok the second tasted rotten , t stunk so bad my family could smell garbage rot from it .they feed me rotten fish !!!!. Which a restaurant should never do . I was sick for 2 days . No manger came out -waitress took taco off bill , I emailed & called the corporate office. No response so I'm leaving this review.. My husband and I went there today for brunch and it was awful. We ordered the biscuit balls for appetizers and although the citrus butter and berry compote was delicious, the biscuit balls themselves were undercooked in the center. It tasted like wet flour. For our entre we both ordered the chicken chilaguila. It was described as a crispy tortilla with a red chilli sauce topped with a sunny side up egg with chicken and cojita cheese. When we received our entre it was cold, there was barely any chicken on the plate (if I had to guess, a quarter of a breast) and the tortillas chips were soggy. They dredged each chip in the red chilli sauce and because it got to us cold it was mush. Basically what we got was a deconstructed red enchilada with an egg on top. And they forgot the cojita cheese. The flavors were there but it was poorly executed. On the bright side, the service was great. Our server was friendly and attentive. When I told her the plate was missing the cheese she had to double check the menu to make sure it was supposed to be included but then she went and got if for us right away. The frustrating part is that we got there at 11:30am and the place only had maybe 4 other booked tables. Whoever was running the kitchen did an awful job. Excellent! We stayed at the Columbus Marriott. I didn't know what to expect being that Houlihan's is attached to the hotel. One the menu it clearly states that everything is made "in house" and it did not disappoint! It was a Friday evening. The place was very busy. We ordered the chipotle chicken nachos as an app. It was delicious. Hit the spot with fresh and HOT jalapeños. Chicken was tender and flavorful. For my main dish, I got the impossible burger and fries. It was good although the special sauce tasted more like plain old mayo. Meh. My son got boneless wings tossed in buffalo sauce and fries. Of course I had to taste...some of the best boneless wings I've ever had! I almost wish I had gotten THEM! Yum. Next morning we ate brunch there. I got the goat cheese and veggie omelette with breakfast potatoes. Very good and filling! Highly recommend!! My son got the pancakes with Nutella, sausage and breakfast potatoes. A little overpriced considering the quality and portion sizes, but the service is usually good and I usually get my food quickly. Today I tried the butternut squash lasagna with Italian sausage. It came with a salad. It looked beautiful and tasted good. They send me a free entree for my birthday every year which is one reason I give them my business! They also have good burgers. Honestly this was one of the worst experiences we have had in a long time. We decided to come here because it was busy downtown and we were pretty hungry already. It appeared slightly less busy and we were able to find a parking spot. We show up and get told there is a 30 minute wait.. ok no problem, i guess. So then the hostess says there are high tops available at the bar. Great! So we go to the bar area and notice over half the restaurant tables are empty. Covid, right? OK, so if this is due to Covid rules, how was the bar area literally packed? Nearly every chair at the bar and most of the pub tables were full? So the bar can be all jammed up, but the restaurant area has to be empty? That makes absolutely no sense. This is including the outdoor tables that were also half empty. But whatever, this was just the beginning. So a bartender comes over with menus and takes our drink orders (only water) and leaves. 15-20 minutes later we finally get our water and order food. By this point we are already annoyed because we were very hungry. She takes our order, then doesn't come back for an unknown amount of time. Nearly 1 hour later, she says our food would be out. I am not exaggerating about this. It was almost an entire hour of sitting there. No refills, no "let me check on it for you"... nothing. Just sitting there for an hour. To make matters worse, nearby in the main dining area, 3 or 4 waitresses were just hanging around talking to one table. If they have so much free time to hangout, can someone not be reallocated to the bar area to help out? I felt very bad for the male bartender because he was busting his behind to keep up with all his people and high tops. It appeared that he never left anyone hanging unlike the woman who was in charge of our table. Overall, the quality of the food is completely irrelevant because everything else was so bad. By that point, we could have had a 5 star meal and it wouldn't have mattered. Will not be going back. read more

Be ready with some patience here, as is needed everywhere these days, because short staffing might make a wait even longer than normal, especially if your conference main hall gets out all at one time, which generates an impossible situation in any case! Most of the employees here are great! They have been understaffed since Covid, so BE KIND! Demarius (I HOPE I spelled that right), is great! She is always kind, has a wonderful personality and provides the best service! And always with a smile too! She also makes the best drinks! Lightning is my absolute favorite bartender there. Lightning, Merle and Sarah Ask for her!!! She is the dot com! She is one of my favorite people at the whole hotel! I love seeing her smiling face! She is such a decent human! A person that is rare to come across. A very special, and kind soul! Seriously ask for her! The wings are my favorite in Columbus! And, if you order the sliders, you can dip them in the wing sauce! yum!!!! Most everything I have tried is great! They tend to overcook the steak though, so I don't order the filet anymore. Okay, it's been 5 years since we've eaten here because after 3 experiences with terrible service, we just decided to stop trying. We were staying at the Marriott last week while new floors were getting installed at our house. We were exhausted and didn't want to drive anywhere to eat, so we decided to give Houlihan's another chance. I'm SO glad we did!!!! Not only was the food absolutely amazing, the service was exceptional! I couldn't even believe it was the same restaurant! Olivia was our server and she was so lovely and helpful. I asked her opinion on the menu and she suggested the scallops with risotto - absolutely delicious! My husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich which was also amazing! I can't remember the exact name of it, but we had some type of flatbread pizza for appetizer. It was incredibly tasty and not too filling which was good because I was able to save room for the best part of the meal - the gooey buttercake dessert! OH MY GOD. It was the most heavenly dessert I've ever had in my life. Buttery, delightful, fabulous perfection with vanilla ice cream on top! So. We have officially changed our opinion of Houlihan's and will absolutely be regulars from now on. 100/A+++++++ read more

Extremely disappointed with the service, management and experience. So I'm staying at the hotel and due to time changes from Alabama I didn't realize I lost an hour. My phone didn't change. So I make it down to the restaurant and they said buffet closes at 10:30 they explain time and I said well it's 10:20 so I'm good. No big no they are closing down the buffet no food and what was left was cold. They had 5 other tables still trying to grab food then the employees are grabbing food it was unreal. What they fail to say is they want to be closed and out of here by 10:30!!! I'm trying to tell management and they didn't care. Gets better I'm on phone making calls and taking care of work and at 10:30 they are wanting me to cash out because it's 10:30 and they closed! Wow just wow read more

A couple of us old soldiers met down in Columbus to visit Fort Benning, see the Infantry Museum, and swap war stories. Our hotel, the Hampton Inn- Fort Benning, comped us a $50 gift card for Houlihan's. Houlihans used to be everywhere back in the fern bar days, but neither of us had seen one in years and assumed they were long gone. That's not the case in Columbus where Houlihans is located in a nice downtown hotel. We liked the decor, the drinks, our server, and the food. We each had the pot roast and it was delicious. We split a dessert and the whole thing came out just a few dollars over $50. Our helpful and friendly waitress was the beneficiary as we felt so giddy we left a healthy tip. Whether I will ever return to Columbus is questionable, as I hadn't been in 40+ years, but if I do I would be glad to eat at Houlihans again. read more

Ok I'm leaving 1 star because I can't leave 0. I'm disgusted with my entire experience here. Starting with the service... the dining room was empty, yet the server was unable to get my table's drink and food order correct. I ended up having to go to the bar to order my drink. When the food finally came, the kitchen had over cooked the steak, left out the condiments, and put so much salt in the pot roast it was inedible. Save your money. Staying at connected Marriott hotel, I risked visit based on time; I should've known better. I went with safe bet and ordered a Caeser salad. I've had food poising in last three months, so I'm careful as can be. I was seated at bar... The service was subpar. I counted 8 people at the bar and maybe 15 throughout the restaurant. This kid would either hang out at one end of the bar, ignoring all patrons on the opposite side of the bar, or would disappear for a few minutes at a time constantly. It got to the point where folks from the bar would go looking for the bartender to order a drink. I ordered a Stoli/ tonic. My second drink Which should've been the same, was Some sort of gin and water. How this got dinged up, I can't explain. My erroneous drink sat with my barely touched salad the entire time I was at the bar. There was a couple of ways he could've rectified the situation, but nothing was done. I would suggest that Marriott with their more than stellar reputation and get involved in addressing the issues associated with this directly connected restaurant. read more

I use to love Houlihans on Front Ave. We have visited 4 times within the last 3 months as a couple and with friends. Each time - service is worse than before. We waited the first time to be seated outside and were told we had to sit inside because the next server didn't serve outside? Are you kidding me? We asked for another server which we were begrudgingly given after being told if we skipped the assigned server she would have to wait until the next rotation before she could work again. AS IF WE CARED. The next server was very nice and by coincidence she was also our server last night. Very nice but VERY SLOW both times. Very unprofessional to call patrons "Sweetie" each time she came to our table. No children were in our party and every adult was over 50 and we are grandparents. Sweetie? We chose not to correct the server as to not embarrass her each time as there were patrons next to us. Looking back on it - maybe we should have taken her to the side? Last night my husband had to GO FIND her to tell her we needed our bill and a take out box as we needed to leave. She then had the audacity to ask me if I knew where the party went to who were seated next to us after they left???? Not one time has a manager stopped at any table to speak to patrons about the service, food, wait times or just to say hello. We have only noticed 1 woman walk around with a remote changing tv channels and then she disappeared again looking beat down and pist off. Houlihans on Airport Thruway is a very different atmosphere. On time service and very professional. Manager has stopped to make sure everything was good during both visits there in the past few months. Our other experience with downtown was with a newly hired server who wasn't highly prepared which of course we understand. Downtown Houlihans is not recommended. read more

I don't know where to begin but first of all, for the price you're paying for the entrees, you would expect it to taste semi edible. My boyfriend had steak and frites and though he ate it, the steak was very uncooked from what he asked for and the fries were cold. The one good thing I will say is that I tried the macaroni and it was good but tastes like they put it in the microwave before serving it since it was steaming hot coming to table. Unfortunately for me, the stuffed chicken I ordered came out hard as rock and I have unable to cut into it, the mash potatoes were cold and bland, and the green beans were ok but bland. I did get another replacement chicken for the rock solid one BUT we ended up already spending about 40 minutes at this place, just waiting for our food, it's literally empty and I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for them to fix my order so I ended up having to take it home to eat it later since I did not want to spend anymore time here. I ate it right when I came home and it tasted like the frozen chicken cordon bleu box at Sam's Club for $11. To be honest, those taste better than what I ordered at the restaurant. Do not come here unless you deliberately are trying to have a bad time. read more

The service at this place is as bad as it gets. I've stayed at the Marriott connecting to this restaurant twice and wanted to eat here both times for convenience sake. The first time, my server took over 10 minutes to come to the table to take my drink order. She was completely inept, comes back 15 minutes later without my drink and attempted to take my food order. I then chose to leave. Today, I and decided to give this place another try because I didn't want to take the time to walk to another location because I worked late. I showed up and literally every table in the bar area was covered with dirty dishes. After sitting at the bar for at least 15 minutes, the bartender took my drink order. I got firecracker shrimp, which was cold, but edible, so I didn't want to wait for them to screw up another dish. This place should be avoided. I cannot imagine worse service. read more

We ate with friends outside for the first time in over a year, and we had a good experience except for the fact that a man in a button down shirt with no mask is the one who brought out our food because our server (who was sweet and wonderful and who was wearing a mask properly) was swamped. He had no mask in sight anywhere on his person, which was really disturbing considering he was breathing on our food. He brought out our food and the food of everyone else on the patio. Houlihan's is attached to the Marriott Hotel in downtown Columbus Georgia. The old renovated brick building is in a unique setting and comfortable. Our server was excellent. The menu has a variety of food and drink items but we were informed that they had none of steak items because their delivery didn't arrive. We were a group of 10 and all of us ordered a variety of appetizers which were okay. Our meal of grilled salmon with mashed potatoes was cool and small proportioned. The cocktails were good but unfortunately the cold food and the lack of steak items left us a sore note. read more

We were lucky enough to have two great meals in this surprisingly delicious hotel restaurant. I had the Columbus Nasty which was fried chicken on a biscuit with white sausage gravy. It was really really freaking good. TBH, we rarely eat at chain restaurants but I am so glad we did! We also enjoyed a lovey hot breakfast buffet the next morning with scrambled eggs, truly delicious bacon (more delicious than normal! Very sweet and salty!), sausage, French toast, steel cut oatmeal, grits, fresh fruit, and all the fixings. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive and the decor is fun and relaxing. I would have given 3 stars because I thought the food was average, but the fact that it's fairly expensive made me choose otherwise. This place is actually pretty neat looking with a nice outside seating area. The service was okay but definitely didn't make it feel like a special experience. The tomato bisque soup and Panko crusted mushrooms were very good, but the chicken parm and fettuccine alfredo were below average. read more

Sat outside in the open air seating area and 6 other tables still had dirty plates on them. It appeared to only be 2 servers and one cook. Food was brought out sporadically and one person in our group did not receive his food until we were getting ready to leave. He took it to go and was not charged.
