When I dropped him off, I specifically declined the late-night treat because I know my dog does not like peanut butter. However, when I picked him up the next day around 2:00 PM, I was surprised to find charges on my bill for both a "late" pickup and the late-night treat that I had declined. The most concerning issue, however, was my dog's condition when he came home. He was covered in fleas. Prior to his stay, he did not have a flea problem, and he had even been to the vet the day before boarding with no issues noted. Finding him infested immediately after boarding was extremely upsetting. Not only was this uncomfortable for my dog, but it also created a problem in my home that now requires treatment and additional expense. In addition, my dog is normally very high energy, but when he came home he slept the entire first day, which was highly unusual for him and added to my concern about his overall condition after his stay. Between the unexpected charges and the flea issue, this was a very disappointing experience. I would encourage pet owners to carefully review their invoices and thoroughly inspect their pets after pickup.

Luna was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in June of 2025 and now takes medication twice daily. If left at home with her sister cats she would not get her medication due to hiding when the caretaker entered the house. We booked a two week stay at the Scratching Post while we traveled. I thought she would hide her whole time at the Inn, but to our surprise it was the opposite. During our daily updates we learned after the first 2 days of being shy she opened up to the staff. She enjoyed spending time with them, petting, scratches and followed them around, the word velcro kitty was used one day. She was very well taken care of during her stay. She is already scheduled for another stay at the Inn.

I would not hesitate to take her back. I highly recommend them. They only take care of cats so I felt that was a much less stressful situation instead of leaving them next to dogs. Even the rooms they keep them in are so much better than cages you see at other places. No cages here! They have little townhomes, standard suite or deluxe suite. I chose standard since I didn't think she needed the bigger room since it was just her. They also update you with pics and how their day went. If you can't tell I was incredibly pleased with this place.

The way they handled the situation, didn't know what happened and never got back to me, was wrong and not how you conduct business. Was no one outside with them? They were HUGE bite marks. Now my doggy doesn't like bigger dogs and has a problem with dogs in general. It completely tramatized him and he is different which upsets me to no end because he was great with everybody. I worked to have him comfortable with all sizes of dogs and now he doesn't even like to be around them. I would not recommend this place.

We also have a boy who has issues with his ears so we don't touch them and I told them and they listening to my requests about that. Metro Animals was one of the only places that were okay with taking in dogs that weren't exactly people friendly. I appreciate that they let us do a free trial day to see if he would be a good fit, which thankfully he was. The staff were incredibly kind and patient with Duke. He has even warmed up to a few of the staff members. Most of the employees seem to have an understanding of dog behaviors and how to work with them. I would definitely recommend them 10/10
