Hounds Town has been the best thing that we have ever done for our pup! We got Evvie back in December. She was feral when trapped and brought up here from North Carolina. We had her for two months and she was still so skittish and shy when we decided to try to bring her to Hounds Town. The staff is amazing and really understands that every dog is different and has their own needs. The first time we brought her, I almost didn't leave her because she looked so sad and scared when I was leaving. The second time I brought her she still looked back at me but it wasn't as bad. By the third time, she was pulling me into the building and did not look back at me at all when I left. Tail wagging and wiggle butts every time now! The staff remembers her name every time and they truly love to see her come in. She has blossomed under their care and is no longer the shy, scared pup she once was. We look forward to the "paw-ties" they throw and the fun photos and "paintings" she gets sent home with. She gets spa treatments (baths and nails)! I love HoundsTown! I've had my girl there many times both for day care and boarding and have never had a bad experience. The staff is amazing and the facility is clean and welcoming! I boarded my dog at Hounds Town South Jersey Shore in Galloway from Aug 20-22 with pickup scheduled for 11am. I arrived around 11:08 and paid my bill with a 20% tip. After a delay, I was told my dog had just had diarrhea and was being cleaned. When he was finally brought out, he was in unacceptable condition! His back end still had poo, and his white fur was stained yellow, as well as blue stain on his paws. When I asked about it, I was first told it had "just happened," but then later told it occurred earlier that morning in his kennel, which was inconsistent and concerning. I immediately requested the 20% tip be refunded. I was only given three wipes to clean him after I specifically asked, which was completely inadequate for the condition he was in. I declined their offer to bathe him because I no longer felt comfortable leaving him in their care. Although I was eventually refunded for his full stay, the condition my dog was returned in and the conflicting explanations I was given were unacceptable. Even worse, it has now been three days since I picked him up and he is still experiencing diarrhea, to the point where I may need to take him to the ER. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this facility. read more

This post is in response to Maria, the owner of Houndstown. A few points I would like to address. When I said my mission I meant that I would let others know what happened with my dog. At no time did I say I wanted them to go out of business. My intent is to make people aware and they can make their own decision. My dog is 14 years old and has a brain tumor. He suffers from extreme separation anxiety. Since he's been diagnosed he has attended 4 other daycares. He has never experienced the neglect and has never been sick. Maria and her manager were not at the site that day. How in the world would they know what happened and how their staff behaved? Again when he was the last in the room he was severely stressed and not one staff member walked into the room to check on him. As far as getting my money's worth I thought he was in good hands and was not concerned that I picked him up at 6:30pm when they close at 7pm. As far as a scathing review I wrote exactly what occurred. There are other negative reviews on yelp as well as their Facebook page. All of this could have been resolved if they had apologized, checked on his condition and admitted that their staff was neglectful on July 2,2026. read more

The staff has done a great job of working with our son's very high energy dog! The dog can't play in group because he overwhelms other dogs, or he gets snippy. They work with him to find compatible playmates. He goes to Doggie daycare several times a week and is boarded at HT when we go on vacation. The manager tells it like it is, very cut and dry! Doesn't sugarcoat anything, but is personable. All other staff are also very personable. Our grand pup enjoys going. I appreciate that he's tired most nights from playing with another dog! read more

We have left our beautiful doggy here multiple times! For long trips and short trips. We have never had an issue! The staff is friendly and professional in person and via phone. We had a concern the first time we left her for 3 nights but Amanda and the staff were very attentive and helpful which allowed us to enjoy our time away. I've been a loyal customer of Hounds Town South Jersey Shore for quite some time and have always had positive experiences. I've used them for boarding whenever I went on vacation, and my dog has never had any issues. However, I had an experience that completely changed my view of this facility, and I feel compelled to share my story, even though it's been some time. While I was away on vacation, I received a call from a staff member, someone I had known there for a long time, in a state of distress. She told me that my dog was "uncomfortable" and "not happy" at the facility and asked if I could have someone pick him up. I was shocked and immediately panicked. My dog had always been familiar with this place, so hearing this was very upsetting. I asked for more details, but she couldn't provide much beyond that my dog just seemed uneasy. I told her that calling me in that way, with no actual emergency, was inappropriate and left me anxious throughout my entire trip. Despite my concerns, I arranged for my dog to be picked up. The next day, the staff member called to apologize and offered a free bath when my dog left. Honestly, at that point, the offer felt hollow, and I just wanted to get my dog home. When a close family friend picked up my dog, they reported that he was shaking and crying in the car, which was unlike anything they had ever seen from him. This experience was heartbreaking for me, and I felt deeply upset about how everything was handled. I've referred several family members and friends to this facility in the past, but after what happened, I'm sad to say I will not be returning. One of the people I recommended told me that when they went for their first visit, the same staff member who had handled my dog's situation immediately told them their dog wouldn't do well there and advised them to go elsewhere. They left and found another local facility that accepted their dog without judgment and treated them well. I'm writing this review because I believe it's important to share my experience, even though it happened some time ago. It's still something that has stayed with me, and it has shaken my trust in this facility. My dog is everything to me and my family, and what happened will always stick with me. It seems that as the facility has gotten busier, the level of care and attention to detail has been lost. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and reevaluates how they communicate with clients, especially in sensitive situations involving pets. I don't normally write reviews but after seeing the poor reviews I felt it necessary. I have two dogs. One is super social and goes here for socialization and play time. When I go out of town I bring both of them here. They are super accommodating given the fact my second dog isn't dog friendly. They give my dogs private play time away from other dogs and entertain my problem child while they let the good dog play with others. It's hard leaving my dogs. It's hard trusting anyone but I feel super comfortable with hounds town. Every time I call they always know my dogs ! I love this place and highly recommend them read more

My dog got kennel cough twice in 9 mos from being there. He wasn't kenneled, I just dropped him for the day to play and socialize. The first time he ended up in the hospital and when I notified Hounds Town they were uncaring and semi rude. read more

I had brought my dog to Houndstown for day care and was quite pleased with it so chose them to board my dog while on vacation. Unfortunately my dog got very sick while there and NO ONE called to let me know. I had to rush him to the emergency vet upon my return. Never once did they offer any compensation for their neglect in not using the emergency information they were given. I would be very wary of ever boarding with them! read more

Worked here for 4 months and only 4 employees stayed. I loved the dogs and working here but the manager victoria was absolutely aweful. She has absolutely zero customer service skills nor buissness communication skills. She treated all of her employees(except her friends) terribly. do not recommen. read more

My girlfriend and I went away for a few days and decided to use Hounds Town in Galloway NJ for boarding our pup based on the reviews on their site (which I now think are fake). In the time we were away we checked their Facebook where "they said we could see our pup in videos and pictures". We checked every day for three days and did not see him. Getting worried my girlfriend called and there was no answer. When they finally called back they said he was good and playing ball outside (he doesn't play ball outside when he's home so we knew they were lying), then told us that he got kennel cough and told us "not to worry about it", REALLY!! WHY NO CALL WHEN HE GOT THE COUGH!!! Directly after that call back they then posted one single picture of him on Facebook which they probably just took. Upon picking him up we could see right away that he wasn't himself, they told us AGAIN not to worry about the kennel cough and it should go away in a couple days. Also told us that he was peeing and pooping in his kennel (our pup is house trained so that tells me that they didn't take him outside very often to do "his thing". I made a Vet appointment right away. After seeing his Vet, she said that they have been receiving lots of cases of kennel cough coming from Hounds Town and it was a good thing that I didn't listen to them when they said "don't worry about it, it'll go away")!! I'm sooo angry and I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!! read more
