They're really sweet and the coffee is great. Point blank. I only wish you could order the pastries/bakery items online, but they don't yet have a way to update the stock online. New coffee shop off 75 and Walnut Hill. The shopping center it's in has a lot of new development and is fun to come to. The menu is very simple, just a few different options for drinks. They have an even more limited selection of pastries, if you come after noon on any given day they'll probably be out of the pastries. There's no food. The staff is always really nice and friendly (a hipster staff). Coffee is good! Try it! The layout is weird as the sitting area is in a separate building so I've never stayed to hang out but it is a cool spot. read more

I was thrilled to see new local coffee place near Cornea Associates of Texas. I love any local coffee places. The coffee is good, it's from coffee roasted locally (in Dallas). Just opened 5 months ago to this date, which means it's somewhat populated but not enough to be busy. I come here every weekend just to get away, write some letters, read, and of course drink good coffee! The staff are so kind, quick to help, and make the place such a likable spot to be! I only ever order drip coffee but I have no complaints about it at all! Truly one of my favorite coffee shops. This afternoon I was in the mood for a Chai Tea Latte and there is no coffee joint that I have found who makes a better one than Houndstooth. Up until today's experience, I have loved this place. The location is so convenient (I live in Lake Highlands) and the staff has always been very friendly. As I parked my car and began to walk into the store, I received a business call from a customer. As opposed to walking into the main area where you place your orders, I entered their unattached building to temporarily sit down and finish my call. Two women were sitting in the room chatting and another solo gentleman was on his phone (using his air buds). I had been sitting there for a couple of minutes (still on my phone call) when one of the staff baristas named Thomas walked into the room, approached me and interrupted my phone call by saying to me that they are serving drinks in the other building. I did not understand what he had said but thought it must have been important to interrupt my phone conversation. As I finished my call I walked over to the other building and located him to ask him what he had been trying to tell me. He reiterated with a very rude inflection that they were serving drinks at the counter if I cared to place an order. It suddenly became clear that he was making the point that usage of their precious space was not free. Little did he know that I would be ordering a Chai Tea Latte as soon as I finished my call. Incredibly rude with little regard to their loyal customers. I called to speak with the manager and the person who had answered the phone informed me that she was the manager. I asked her name and she replied that her name was Natalie. I explained what had just happened in her store with my rude encounter with her employee, Thomas. She said that they have had too many people using their WiFi for free and that this was a place of business. Not only was I not using WiFi, my plan was to purchase a drink (as I always do). I do not feel welcome in this establishment anymore and will not be returning. Not only were they rude it's now too awkward to feel comfortable walking back into this Houndstooth. read more

Love the coffee; best cold brew in Dallas. Give them a try, they are incredibly friendly at this location (not to say the others aren't) I'd just rather drive out of they way to get to this one. Brewed Coffee of the day was delicious. My friend had the blueberry tea, which also got rave reviews. This place is really cute and well designed, worth a visit. Its tragic flaw is the lack of comfortable seating. I totally get why it's tough to keep cushions or fabric/soft goods in a coffee shop, but bench cushions or a couple of well-placed Euro pillows would go a long way toward raising the comfort factor. This is a place I'd come to catch up with a friend - not to study or have a meeting. read more

Came here for a meeting and quickly realized that there is very little seating. Seems like a great set up to grab a coffee and go but just a couple of tables outside and some very few bar stools inside means this is not a place to schedule a meeting. The coffee was great by the way. read more

I came for coffee today for the first time. The environment is very nice and the coffee was okay. However, the person taking my order and making the coffee was unbelievably rude. There is no clear location as to where to place the order. I walked up to the counter and the guy said he's busy with the people chatting 4 feet behind me. We waited a minute and then he said "what can i get for you", I told him what I wanted and then we went to sit down. 5 minutes later he yelled at us from behind the counter "Hey! are you guys going to order anything?!" I was shocked since I already told him what I wanted. Then I went walked back up and told him again. He said I was not allowed to sit back down and had to stand near the counter while he made the coffee. I've never experienced such terrible service at a coffee house before. He finally made the coffee but put it in a to go cup. I had to ask 3 more times for a normal cup as we intended to drink the coffee at the shop. Maybe he was having a bad day but whoever this worker was made the entire experience very negative and I highly doubt I will come back ever again. Not recommended read more

I have tried coffee here many times. It always taste a bit of vinegary. Almost like Burger King coffee, (BK coffee is not bad for price) I drink it black so maybe it needs milk to balance out. For the price of specialized coffee, I may have had different expectations. Started drinking when co-workers would pick up coffee for me. The actual place and staff are really quality factors in keeping review at 3 Stars. There is a social aspect of coming here and saying you didn't get your coffee from somewhere else. read more

Both coffee and pastries are far superior to Starbucks. The place itself is very man-bunny, and it is proximate to the Park Cities, so the customers can be infantile and annoying, but these unpleasantries are not worth subtracting a star. I went to Houndstooth Coffee on Walnut Hill this morning to try a new coffee place. We ordered a hot mocha, chai tea latte, a banana nut muffin and a kouign amann with chocolate filling. The chocolate in the mocha and the pastry tasted artificial. The espresso was very bitter, the chai tea was too spicy for my taste, and watery. The highlight was the muffin and the great service. The location is very convenient and the design is gorgeous, but my husband and I poured our drinks down the drain and threw away the rest of the kouign amann. I wanted to love this place, but I was really disappointed. Looks like we will stick with our other go-to coffee shops for now. read more

I have to commend this place. My review is a year or so late, but worth the time. I was back in Dallas after years away and used to come to Houndstooth almost everyday for awhile. I'd get a latte or cappuccino and it was the closest thing I found in Dallas to my favorite Blue Bottle and Four Barrel in my home city. My only wish was that they had Oat milk, and I'm thrilled to discover they now do! I came here then because my mom was in the hospital for some pretty serious stuff. The hospital coffee is terribly terrible haha, so coming to Houndstooth gave me a chance to get out, while staying close by. When she was released we came by together and the baristas were so kind to her, wishing her continued recovery. I'm in Dallas again for a week or so, and woke up wanting a coffee. Houndstooth isn't closeby, but I'm on my way for that oat latte!! read more

The aesthetics are very much according to the brand with sparse decor and hard seating, so it isn't necessarily a long-term hang out spot. Wanted a place to get some work done for an hour as I waited for an appointment. Looked this place up and came here. Great coffee. I just drink it black and feel like I get the full flavor of coffee that way and it easily ranks in my top 10 for coffee. The place has a cool vibe; maybe a bit minimalist as it felt a little sterile and has an odd layout. Not very conducive to getting work done on the minuscule desks. Maybe that's the idea.
