Friday night Drinks with my girls and it was only 20 min from my home. We made reservations which I suggest that you do. The inside is decorated beautifully, very Instagram worthy. There is no street parking you have to park across the street , where there is plenty of parking, no fee. They started us off with bread toasted(yummy) the drinks were amazing i had the Caipirinha believe that is the spelling, it was excellent. As far as food was concerned i got the coconut shrimp and the mac and cheese as entrees and they were delicious, everyone at the table enjoyed their food and drinks. The owner came over and had a great conversation with us and apologized for the wait, which was not their fault we were waiting for a friend. Service was good. The waitress was very nice and friendly. we did notice another table having issues with service and food. We watched for a while while a table of eight sat for what seems like an hour or so without their food. Then only 50% of their table was served while the other half sat there with no dinner. They begin to look annoyed, but seem to be trying to make the best of their situation. Ambiance was ok. I went for dinner and the lights were bright as hell. Not much of a mood, but the place seemed clean and sanitary. The DJ was pretty good and was saying along to a lot of the songs he was playing. We were also seated in the mezzanine seats, which were crazy. It was bright and annoying, and they had vents on the ceiling blowing directly on us, making us cold, drying out our eyes and making our food ice cold. we did request that they at least turned down the lights since there were candles on the table. They did oblige for a few minutes and then turned them back up. It was probably around 9 PM or 10 PM. Drinks ... horrible. We tried to order a couple of things and it just kept getting worse. I gave up when I asked for a rum punch and they gave me a large glass of well rum with ice and a squirt of fruit punch on top. Food was lackluster. The appetizers were great but the entrees were not. The menu seems to promote Caribbean, American and African dishes. Not as a fusion, but three different menus in one. I had a dish from the West Indian side and my friend ordered from the African side. First they brought us someone else's food. Then came back and took it (which was fine) but they didn't even take it back to the kitchen. instead, they took it from our table, and gave it to them. The other couple happened to be sitting right next to us so I know that food was not was no longer hot. My food eventually came and it was horrible. It tasted like colonized jerk chicken. My rice was hard and cold. The vegetables were mushy. My friend's dish seemed a little more OK but he didn't finish it either. I'll also add that the couple who received their food after it was placed on our table 1st also left without finishing their food and a whole bottle of wine. we really wanted to like this place and we're excited to check them out. I've gone twice about 3 weeks about and the service and bar service got worse the second time. Now don't get me wrong everyone is as sweet as pie, extremely nice, but not professional and hat I mean by that is this. The establishment has servers that don't know the menu, or the drink menu. That's service 101 get familiar with the menu so you can make suggestions. The bartenders were worse, how do you mess up a martini.....by pouring a whole jar of olive juice in it (the was done twice, yes I sent it back both times. The second time we went, kept it simple again, I ordered a gin and tonic.....straight tonic. Go, and experience the food, but don't expect much from the servers (not blaming them, they should be trained). When we arrived the Hostess/Owner advised that there was a dress code and we were not adhering to the dress code by wearing black jeans and sneakers. Reluctantly, the Hostess/Owner agreed to seat us in an empty dining room on the other side of the restaurant. She remarked that a large party booked a long table near our table and suggested that we may interfere with their event but she would accommodate us. There were several other open tables that were not being used by the party. The large party arrived two hours after we were seated and while we were leaving. We did not interfere with the party's event nor should that have ever been mentioned. read more

My husband and I decided to try out this relatively new restaurant. Despite not having a reservation on a Saturday night, we were seated within 10 minutes by the friendly hostess, Esther. The place was very busy so we were pleasantly surprised to get seating so quickly. And a few minutes later, our server for the evening, Dennis, arrived to take our drink orders. The drinks were strong and to our taste. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and is perfect for a date night. The music was good but a little too loud for us but we managed to hold a decent conversation with a few "say it again" moments. We ordered the mini empanadas and seared scallops for appetizers and the Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Surf and Turf for entrees. The food was very flavorful and tasty, however, the lobster was a tad overcooked. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the food and plan to return, perhaps, to try their Brunch menu. I came here for my birthday but was so disappointed in the slow service and lack luster quality of food. Our waitress was Alex who kept disappearing on us. She took her slow time coming back to the table to check if we were ok. We waited over an hour and half for our food. The calamari came out cold and the chicken wings were fried hard. The price tag for My fried fish dish was not worth it. My daughter had the pasta and it was not edible. My husband salmon was season too high. When you try to support black own business you get the slow quality service. I will stay away from this place it is not worth it. Went here on a Friday night, We had reservations and was seated quickly after taking pictures in the beautiful front area. The decor was very nice and the music was pumping, not overly loud so you can have a conversation free from yelling. Our wait staff and the hostess were very attentive throughout our visit. Beautiful women who were always smiling and ensured we were good. The Brazilian Kiss drink was sweet, smooth and fruity. I enjoyed it and I felt buzzed. The mini Empanadas, were delicious and the sauce has a KicK. The Lamb chops OMG were deliciously seasoned, tender and made exactly like I love them med-well, it came with mini whole potatoes and squash/zucchini which needed a little salt, but it's veggies, so of course. The Caribbean Chicken and Shrimp were well seasoned & tasty, the rice and beans, plantains it came with were too. Oh and a side of mango, made the dish. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was sent back, why? Mac was dry and tasteless, and the lobster was sweet and tender but only had a buttery taste and no seasoning. The staff took a replacement order graciously. In reviewing the entire menu, my opinion is several dishes are overpriced and some just make the cut , I would definitely go back, I'll just bring someone willing to pay for it read more

I came back for brunch on a Sunday at 2:30pm. I wasn't aware that they didn't allow you to order form the regular menu at all until 4 pm. We spoke to manager about it and was given the same response that you can only order from the regular menu at four, no exceptions. We moved on and began to order for brunch. We wanted to order appetizers first and were told we only had ten minutes bc the brunch menu was also closing at 3. So we had to quickly order for brunch but we're not allowed to order the regular menu for another hour. The waiter tried his best but wasn't really accommodating. We ordered a French toasts and later found out that they were out. Got chicken and waffles instead and when the food came out they were out of berries. And also couldn't provide duche de lèche as a side like I had asked as a way to make up for the waffles. Food was decent. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria and it wasn't strong. The vibe just wasn't it. I wish I could write a better review because the first time we went was so great. Honestly brunch wasn't it. And the service was not accommodating at all. read more

After we ate 2 of us from the group wanted a shot before we go since the bill was closed out. At the bar we order 2 shots of patron reposado and was charged $35. When questioned about the price the manger was not helpful. We was told we was charged for casimigo reposado and a shot of that is $16.99 oh plus taxes. Insane. And I don't believe this place is Black Owned as the manager had no say so of what can/will be done for us being charged for a shot we didn't get. The bartender telling her what she can and can't do for us. The manager is black but not in control. What manager can't make a decision if a customer has a problem. We chose 4 selections and was served 1 plate of each to be shared amongst the group. We were given 12 waffles for a party of 16ppl. I don't mind supporting black owned businesses. However, paying $64 dollars for 2 wingettes, 2 mini crabcakes and a waffle is a bit much. We inquired was there more food coming and was told no. I went to a wonderful charity event in the area but after leaving our stomach's were very much yearning lol. Apparently at this place you need reservations on the weekends and if patience meets luck you can score a seat at the bar as a walk in. My sister and I waited for two seats at the bar for about 20 mins and when we were seated it was NOTHING short of awesome . The bartenders Miguel and Natalie were very engaging and got our food out very quickly. I had the oxtail and my sister had the Southern fried chicken (HUGE portion btw) . The oxtails were super tender and seasoned well (tad spicy but I'm into it). The white wine selection was great and the espresso martini was very yummy to finish. I went to this restaurant with a friend for the first time. The entrance of the restaurant has a beautiful flower wall with the name of the restaurant. Definitely a picture worthy place for social media. The ambiance was nice, service was good, attentive. My friend and I wanted to try their mojitos, I got the coconut and my friend ordered mango. We really had high hopes for it, but it didn't exceed our expectation. It was too minty and mine didn't taste like coconut as it seemed to be watered down. My friend couldn't taste the mango as the mint was overpowering. Now the food, that was different. I ordered the deep fried chicken; which was pretty good. It wasn't oily, it wasn't dry and it was crispy but chicken was moist. The collard greens just needed some salt, but other than that it was good. My only issue was the Mac & cheese, I found it to be dry. To me it felt like it was pasta with melted cheese on top, not necessarily pasta with blended cheese. My friend ordered the dish with chicken and shrimp. It's not spicy, it does have a kick but very light. She enjoyed her dish! We arrived 15 minutes early before our 6pm reservation. The hostess was not at the station as she was seating a party. But a server (little witch) who was standing there shining cutlery told is to Wait very rudely. Not somebody will be right with you, but just Wait! I should have left right then, but we wanted to try the new restaurant. After we were seated and ordered drinks. My womans French Martini was not right, so she sent it back and asked for a glass of muscato. But apparently this server did not understand her and proceeded to bring another bad French Martini. Sent it back again and then our waitress shows up with a 3rd bad French Martini. Explained that she just wanted a glass of muscato, which is when we were informed that the other server did not speak english. Ordered apps and entrees at the same time as their policy. Coconut Shrimp and Chicken Empanadas were tasty. And the wait for the entrees began. I asked our waitress several times and was told that the kitchen was backed up. Now mind you that we were sitting upstairs and could see the entire venue. I clearly watched several tables who were seated after us who had received their apps and entrees before us. 40mins later comes our entrees. The salmon was cold and definitely not char broiled. Mashed potatoes were ice cold, and mixed vegetables were overcooked. Jollof rice was cold and mushy, looked more like spanish rice. Plantains looked like they had been sitting there all day. The seafood paella looked hot, but I never touched it. We spoke with the manager and explained the entire horrible experience. We exited and will never go back! read more

Had to run to Family Dollar and get a pair of sneakers. Please read the dress code. The hostess was really apologetic about it though. The calamari appetizer was pretty good. I ordered the lamb chops which were good. I took a star off for the mashed potatoes, not great. My friend ordered a surf and turf. The lobster was seasoned to perfection. So I would have given a 5 because the food was amazing. The only reason I am giving a 3 is because of the service. I get that it's been 3 weeks. But we where seated for 30 minutes and no one had taken our order. Had to ask, I think our waitress was in experienced. Which unfortunately can cause issues. Chris who was not our waiter was very attentive and on point. My order was wrong. My husband told me to return it but we had already waited so long that I left it. It was delicious otherwise I would have. Asked for dessert menu never got it. So just asked for the check 3 times. Will come back because again food was amazing. But need to figure out service.
