This was the first time we went and we (my daughter and mother) were hungry, they knew it was our first time so they wanted to make a good first impression. It took a bit but it was worth the wait because it was amazing. Coming from NYC on 103rd and Lexington, I used to live on top of a Mexican restaurant and it was really good, but we all agree that this place (House of Tacos) is better. Next time we're gonna call ahead to save time but I'm excited to go back. Seriously, I'm upset I'm just now ordering from this place after a year of living in PA. Never have gotten the order correct for takeout... always missing items or ingredients that are listed on the menu itself. Empanadas and birria tacos served with minimal meat inside. The birria itself (for takeout) was served in a cup the size of a salad dressing cup. Flavor was ok. read more

I would have loved to try the place but it's a mess! Had time for a long lunch so decided to come in and try new. Online it says 10-10. I walked up at 11:30 and it was not open. I called and they told me they will be open at 12. Ok 30 min. I waited. 12 I went up and sign now on the door. Cash only because ATM down. Maybe they could have put that on the outer door and I wouldn't have waited 30 min only to find out now I have to go somewhere else. So much for my leisure long lunch. This is a place for tacos...it isn't fancy, and it isn't about the ambiance - it's about the food. Delicious, authentic, mexican tacos at a very reasonable price. At the time of this review, I paid $10 for 4 tacos and they were just amazingly good & generously filled. I wondered why no one has written a review here and I noticed that most of their reviews are on Google reviews, and many are in spanish...I noticed that many of their other patrons speak spanish, so that makes sense...but they have an amazing rating on Google reviews (where I found them) for good reason. This is a place to check out! It is locally owned, and the woman who owns it (and her business partner, another woman) are work horses...they are often the hostess, cook, and waitress. I was there on a Friday night, and the one woman running the show did it all...hostess, server, cook. A really hard worker and so nice. Heads up! You will wait a bit (but not that long) for your food because she cooks it to order, and often there is only one person there...but if you can be patient & hang out with your friends for a few minutes, you'll be happy you did. This is one of those small, local, authentic taco shops that you dream about and its right here in Lancaster...I am literally kicking myself for not knowing they existed sooner, and I hope you don't make that same mistake. We've been to this restaurant twice and I've not been able to order a damn thing this time we were there an hour and a half before closure and guess what they're out of food again even though their counter shows food everywhere the last time we came, they said they were out of tacos this time while obviously having an abundance of food, they told us we could not order they were out. I would not recommend this place to anybody, and I guarantee you will never set foot in that unclean looking restaurant again. read more

If I could give this place zero stars , I would. DO NOT GOT HERE. I waited 45 minutes for nachos. I ordered way ahead of time and still waited at the restaurant for what felt like forever. I think the most important thing to say is that the food is phenomenal. My wife and I have had tacos in L.A., Mexico, Guatemala, New York...we know tacos. These are excellent, sizeable, and reasonably priced. We got the "Mexican style" and tried steak, chicken, and chorizo (they sadly were out of al pastor). We also had a side of sweet plantains that were great. The food is easily 5-star. The woman who served us was super nice, but the service was crazy inefficient. I didn't get my horchata until five minutes after I finished my food! Yet each time the woman came out she mentioned the horchata, so it wasn't an oversight. One couple got up and left after waiting a long time to order their drinks. At another table a woman had almost finished her food and her partner's food had not yet arrived. So, there you have it. If you've got time to hang around, you'll be happy you did. If you're in a hurry, I'd go across the street to McD's! read more

This place has amazing food BUT I ordered food on DoorDash and they never responded!! My order was canceled due to nobody acknowledging the order. This is not the first time and this is not how you run a business!!! I'm so upset now I have to check and see if my money credited back! the only way I guess to get food from here is to pick it up! OMG, ordered tacos here on two occasions, once authentic Mexican then American tacos. They were amazing, the Mexican tacos had a great homemade green sauce, just spicy enough, the American was amazing, loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and a delicious roast pork, everything freshly made. I'll start from the top, when I arrived here at around 5:30 there were 2 groups of people in front of me in line and one group behind me. Somehow the people behind me got the chance to order before I did, but I let that go. When I got the chance to order and told them I wanted 4 barria tacos(2 chorizo, 2 steak) which cost 14.99, a veggie quesadilla which cost 7.99, and guacamole which cost. 9.99( this will be important later). I was never told how long the food would take just that it would be right up, I ended up waiting in the restaurant until 7pm. The other three groups had received their orders, eaten, talked, and left atleast 40 mins before I did. While I was waiting I even saw brand new groups of people and delivery drivers get served before I did. Now while I was waiting for my food I noticed two things that caused me concern, first the steak they were serving was dated to over a month ago(10/10/21), of less concern but still unprofessional was that the men's toilet did not flush, in fact the handle to flush it was sitting on top of the water reservoir and the toilet was just open perpetually meaning that water was always flowing in and draining out from it. When I finally received my food I looked at the bill and noticed that it was off ( I always do the math first I'm cheap), but I just wanted to leave and ladies were nice enough so I just payed it and gave them a fraction of the recommend tip amount. Now that I get home and do the math I see that I was bamboozled by about 10 dollars, when all the items I ordered were added up it's about 33 dollars with tax around 35 yet my bill was about 48 bucks. The absolute worse part is not that I was literally starving after a 10 HR shift and just wanted a quick meal, not that it was over priced from the start, not that no one told me about the hour and a half wait, not that the place was unorganized and chaotic as hell and the quality of the meats served was highly questionable, not that they either unintentionally or maliciously charged me more than the price listed on their menu, the worst dam part is that the dam food wasn't even good man. I didnt want to write this review I promise you, but it had to be done. I shoulda just went to Burger King that was my first choice, I should have followed my instincts. Stay away from this place just go to Burger King or if you like tacos the best place around here that I have found is El pueblito and it's cheaper, faster, and it taste good. Also there was no language barrier when I ordered I speak fluent Spanish, it's my native tongue and I am also a Dominican like the people that worked there, which is why I checked it out in the first place. The tacos are amazing HOWEVER they are never correct on the timing and almost always have you waiting 25 minutes or MORE than what they told you. Very unorganized and never easy to understand.
