To start with the food was delicious. We ordered a street taco "superbowl special". That included 10 street tacos in a variety of fillings. It was supposed to include chips, salsa, and guac for 54.00. That seemed like a good price. Upon pick up, they refused to give us the chips, salsa, and guac saying we had to pay extra. Attention given by all the staff including management was very good. Our waitress Lisa was very considerate and sweet. She tried her best to make our dining experience memorable. I personally was anticipating a very delicious and tasty meal based on many reviews but unfortunately my meal was very bland. My best friend and I came here for the first time today and had an amazing meal. Our waitress was very sweet and very attentive. Their drinks are amazing. I got the passionfruit margarita and my friend got the passionfruit mojito. Their cheese dip was a great appetizer. I got a shredded chicken quesadilla which was so good, especially with their mild salsa. For dessert, we got churros and they were the perfect end to our meal. Straight off the bat: plaza azteca is better -1 star because they were rather noticeably pushy with apps and drink upgrades and the chips and salsa are mediocre. I loved everything about Tequila. We were greeted by a very sweet and polite hostess. Our waitress was a delight, super attentive and friendly. I had the passion fruit mojito and my friend had the passion fruit marg and both were delicious. They were also decorated beautifully. The restaurant was very clean and just absolutely fun looking. I had the chicken chimichanga which was delicious, crammed full of chicken with lots of fresh toppings on top. Their chips and churros were yummy too. We ordered two jumbo margaritas, guacamole, and chips to start. The guacamole was served in the molcajete and pestle dish like usual, except the pestle was left in the bowl, taking up the whole bowl. This left only a small amount of guacamole, about the serving size for one person. For over $14, this was extremely disappointing. Plaza Azteca has table side made guacamole for around the same price, but you get a LOT of guacamole, like enough to take home. The amount they gave us here left us thinking maybe it was bottomless, and they would come out with a refill. Nope! There could not have been more than 1.5 avocados used in this appetizer, it was that small of a serving. Not even a free refill of chips. The margaritas were good, and this was our only positive takeaway. We both got enchiladas as our entree. The enchiladas were hardly enchiladas. They have a little bit of sauce on top, a tiny sprinkle of cheese, and just dry chicken on the inside. You could have told me it was tacos with some sauce on top and I would have believed you. You only get three, and they are the size of small taco shells. They are not like enchiladas you would get anywhere else around here. read more

Of all the Mexican restaurants in the area, I've felt ripped off at this one. The prices are high, and while the food isn't bad, it's not worth the cost. They don't even offer complimentary tortilla chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants in the area. In fact, the last time I went, they were trying to charge me for something I didn't even order. We went for dinner here first time. I ordered fajitas and they were lukewarm. There was no sizzle. They were still tasty. We also ordered the pork carnitas tacos. Those were REALLY good. Great job there. The dislikes: overpriced, rice didn't look appetizing on anyone's plate, uncomfortable seats at the high top tables. Our server was nice but the place needs to get it together. I feel that because they are located in this cookie cutter center they think the "wealthier" side of the county will eat here so they charge about 20-25% more on food items than any decent competitor. I took our Wing Club that goes to different restaurants each week. I enjoyed a Margarita that was very well made. In my opinion the wings were perfectly cooked and the sauce was just right. The chips and salsa were good but I got the chicken flautas which were extremely disappointing. I went to cut into one with a knife and it was hard as a rock. The food was good-not great- but the service was atrocious! Got seated between two large parties (6-8 adults plus small kids. Waited 8 minutes for acknowledgment by anyone. Finally, a waitress (not ours) approached, apologized, and took our drink order. She was young and seemed to be taking great care of the corner tables and one of the larger parties. A few minutes later, our waitress (who never introduced or made us feel welcome in any way) came over and asked if we wanted drinks. We explained someone else took care of it. She walked off, came back with our drinks and took our order. She was older, did not seem to understand the handheld order system, and seemed to be favoriting the other larger party - who had 3 young kids running around bumping into tables and customers. A man brought our food out and we saw no one until our waitress came out with our check. We dine out 2-3 times a week and were excited to try this location of Tequila as we love the location on Roherstown Road for lunch. However, the service was just lackluster. We've been there three times for dinner and once just for dessert (Fried Ice Cream). The first time was encouraging; food was good, service was meh, but they had just opened and so things like the server not knowing the menu well were understandable. Second time was better service except the server seemed to want to argue a menu item which I had been served the first time; its very possible they were actually correct and that the first visit I was given something not exactly what I had ordered, but their tone with me wasn't friendly. The time we went just for dessert was probably the best so far; the server was easy going, service was fast and we got exactly what we asked for - no problems. Last visit was another disappointment. First, their "steak" is not tender, not juicy, overcooked and lacking in flavor. It's probably SOME type of steak, but not what I'm used to at this type of restaurant. To be honest, the chicken on their fajitas and in the enchiladas was just as bad: dry, overcooked and lacking flavor. We ordered the exact same dish for my son that he had the last time (traditional enchiladas) and got a totally different sauce (red vs white). Again, I'm not sure which time his order was correct but the inconsistency makes it difficult to order if we would go back again. My last issue with our latest visit was the temperature inside. Now I'm that guy who wears shorts all winter, so take this for what its worth, but it was mid to upper 30s outside and I'm pretty sure they had the A/C on in the restaurant. I don't typically get cold but I was freezing and could feel a lot of air movement (almost like someone was opening an exterior door right behind me - but the closest door to me is currently locked). It was clear they had recently adopted new technology, but the gal behind the bar didn't even try, not to mention she snapped her gum the whole time. Didn't want to complain because it was our first time there, food was just ok, but the service was awful.! Our waitress was more interested in what was happening on her phone, than she was her customers. Every time she would walk away from a table, not just ours, she had her phone out in her hand and she would stand off to the side on her phone, however she could still be seen! Asked for a soda refill and then waited and waited! My husband asked for a refill on his drink and instead got a glass of water...he is still waiting for his refill. But when it was time to get the bill and have us pay she was right on top of it!! Sad to say but this was the first time EVER (31 years together) that neither one of us left a tip!
