Knowledge Knowledge!!! Gracie is phenomenal! She has an exceptional knowledge on tanning. She explained in great detail the difference in the beds and explained the best way to maintain your tan. She is the only one who took the time to talk to me and explain things since I've been tanning here for almost 3 months. She is definitely the one to come see even if you're a seasoned tanner! COMPLETE SCAM! I am new to Gainesville and tried this salon out. I did the promotion and decided to try another salon. I went in and spoke with the young girl to ensure that I didn't need to do anything to cancel (even though I never signed up for auto draft). Long story short I now found out that I was being billed since July (on my GA bank account) for over $70 a month. I called and asked if the manager was in. I was informed that they do not have a store manager and she would call the regional and have her call me. She never called and that was on Friday November 19. I called the store over and over and was given the phone number to the regional but no name. I called and left message after message with no return call. I had to call and report fraud on my account to get it to start. I have never dealt with such poor customer service. This place is an absolute scam and the customer service is disgusting and horrendous. I have called for FIVE MONTHS STRAIGHT to stop the charges on my bank account because I stopped tanning there in March. These scammers told me I would be able to cancel at any time, and then AFTER I tanned for two months, they claim that I need to have a 6 month minimum and they need a 30 day cancellation notice. OH REALLY? So you get uneducated girls to sell this scam about "cancelling at any time" and then continue to charge me 7 months after starting a membership???? You refuse to contact me, the girls working refuse to give me a managers contact, yet y'all still charge my account every single month for services I have been trying to cancel for 5 months. I highly recommend you contact me back because at this point, I will be seeing you in court. I DO NOT WANT ANY FREE TANNING COMPENSATION. I went in for a spray tan before my graduation photo shoot and did everything required-showered, shaved, exfoliated, no lotions. When I came in, they were relatively busy but only had one girl working, who was supposed to work the desk and do the custom spray tans. She didn't really ask me about my formula or what I was looking for color-wise since there were people behind me in line, so everything was very rushed. I waited 10 hours to shower, and I have very very little to no color. I assume she chose the color based off my face, which is much paler than my body, and the formula barely did anything. I called in hopes of getting this taken care of, because $50 later I at least expect a tan from a custom tan at a tanning salon, and they pretty much made excuses without any resolution. I've been here in the past and had a decent experience, but now would NOT go back or recommend. read more

I really like the girls that work here (reason for 2 stars) but the place is in disrepair.. there's only one level 5 bed that is functioning (doesnt play music tho) and whenever I come there is ALWAYS someone in the functioning bed. Bed 3 is ALWAYS broken. I paid for a 6 mo membership to use level 5 and most of the time I either don't bother since it's always a wait to use the ONE level 5 bed or I have to use a lower level bed. Tried to cancel my membership last month was told I had to wait until November, went in to cancel today and was advised I'd still be charged for December. So even though I signed up on 5/12 I have to come in on EXACTLY 11/1 to cancel a membership? Would have been nice to know that in October when I inquired. So apparently telling them I want to cancel now works to cancel my membership past the 12/1 draw date but this wasn't an option in October? I have basically been paying for service that was offered as 2 beds that has been 1 bed for my entire membership and now forced to pay an additional month! Btw the other level 5 bed is STILL DOWN for repairs but apparently just needs to be replaced entirely but its okay to keep charging for 2 level 5 beds to members when there's really only 1 bed. If I wanted to use lower level beds I would have signed up for a cheaper membership. I'll be calling AMEX about this situation. read more

I'm extremely disappointed, I signed up for the unlimited services, which is supposed to be $69 a month. Always been a problem with the versa spray tan which that's the majority of what I use, the bronzer is constantly not working and sometimes hardly sprays you. This weekend I needed a spray tan right away because I was going out of town, drove all the way there just for the girl to tell me it's not working. I told her, listen I don't mean to complain but I'm really getting upset! I been paying $69 for 4 months now and I'm extremely disappointed and this month you over charged me! They took out $79, she said it's a late fee, but I told her you took it out on the 1st, it's due on the 1st, I proved it to her on my bank app, she said they tried it once at 5am and it didn't go through and again at 9am, and it went through. She told me that the system charges a late fee after the 1st try. I told her it's impossible, and ridiculous because I'm not late at all because it's still the 1st you charged my account! She said it's nothing I can do! not only you over charging me, but your spray tan is always broke! How can you over charge for services you can not use! I told her just cancel my contract, she responds I can't because your in a 6 month contract, after the 6 months you can put in for a 30 day cancelation notice, that was never in the contract either. I'm really upset and will spread the word what you did and will never go here again. read more

Absolutely the WORST customer service ever. They continue to charge you long after you have cancelled your membership. I have tried to cancel several times and keep getting charged. When I called to talk to someone about it I got nowhere so i asked to speak to a manager and the girl said no and HUNG UP ON ME!!! Customer service is not something that is clearly not important to this staff. I went in to use the Versa Pro tanning machine and the machine only sprayed half of my body. When I came out and told the lady at the front desk, she informed me that someone else said that happened to them. She did not apologize or even offer to fix my tan. I've also had friends that have had a similar bad customer service. I compete in pageants and I get a lot of spray tans, so I will not be returning to House of Tans. read more

A few months ago I would have given House of Tans a raving review. However as of late, this has not been this case. I was very disappointed with the service that I received from the receptionist (her name was Sabrina I believe?) She repeatedly had me "hold on" while she answered the phone a few times and did various other things while I stood there and waited. How can you ignore a customer when they are right in front of you? After that (let me add that I was the sole customer in the store) she didn't have a single room ready for me to use. This led to yet more waiting. Add snippy remarks and I was done. Will be changing locations ASAP! read more
