Stayed here for a weekend to visit the House on the Rock. This place was built in the early 90s and it genuinely still looks like it. For me, this was a very quaint time capsule of when I would go vacationing with my family as a kid. Full disclosure, if you know you're the type of person to prefer a clean, brand new hotel, this will disappoint. You will not like this. You might be more critical and feel it is overall more dirty. If you like the "retro" look, you'll probably be thrilled and love it. Due to the age of the hotel, there's a lot of little things here that you no longer see in modern hotels. Recessed lighting, room divisions between bedrooms (instead of all the beds being in the same room together), a kitchenette with a mini fridge that has an actual freezer! According to my friends, the beds were not very comfortable, but I slept like a baby quite easily. Different strokes etc etc. We used the hotel pool and jacuzzi as well. Again, it's built in the 90s, it's not the newest shining thing, but I stayed cooking in that jacuzzi for several hours (with appropriate breaks, I swear), so I have no real complaints there. The staff was always very kind and attentive. No complaints there. There aren't any branded hotel chains in the area, so if you're not willing to risk it trying out a totally independent inn, the House on the Rock Resort is an excellent choice. read more

I couldn't believe the state of the clubhouse and the way it has gone downhill from years past. Apparently they have zeroed out their landscaping budget. Completely overgrown and all weeds. Reminded me of the "Grey Gardens" movie. It used to be very beautiful. Sad. read more

My wife and I had a great time at the resort, but it's been 3 weeks since our trip, 5 calls, and we still have not received a refund. Completely unacceptable, scammy behavior. Okay first things first. We came here when this place was COMPLETELY empty. My wife walked in and the front desk person is on the phone and doesn't even acknowledge her presence. She was overly nice to the folks on the phone while ignoring my wife for over 10 minutes. When she got off the phone she acted as though my wife was inconveniencing her for even being there. She didn't acknowledge ignoring her or being on the phone and just simply said "yes?" in a rude tone as though we had inconvenienced her for being here. She begrudgingly gave our key cards and only gave one word answers or completely ignored anything that was said. Being met immediately with rudeness for simply having a reservation was an immediate turn off. "Becky" or Rebecca really needs to consider a different career. Next comes the state of the hotel. There is a nasty rogue sock in the elevator that should have been the first sign. Then we get to the hallway and there is literally black mold falling from the ceiling. Outside our room is a pile dead bugs. Once we get into our room we see that there is food and popcorn all on the floor. I inspected the bed before sitting on it out of fear of more bugs .. but immediately regretted sitting down after seeing my wife's face. She points at the headboard. ..Which has some substance (let's be honest we know what it is) on it. Like splatter and dripping. This place is disgusting and they have gall to charge over $200 for one night. I'm absolutely appalled and considering sleeping in my car. Will be disinfecting everything I own when I get out of here .. we just really wanted to go see the house for my birthday and traveled all the way out.. what an awful kick off read more

Spent 3 nights here. The hotel rooms have gone downhill. Check in at 3:00, arrival at 3:30, room not ready for 25 more minutes. Room was filthy. Dead bugs, hair from others, crumbs, never vacuumed. Windows so bad you can hardly see the beautiful golf course. Hallway and room was musty/moldy smelling. Outdoor patio furniture so bad we couldn't use, never cleaned. We stayed here 3 years ago and really gone downhill since then.Refrigerator groose with others spills in it. Asked where to get ice, lobby reception sent me to 3 all on different floors, all not working with signs on each. After walking around all over the place, finally found one machine working. Whirlpool missing tiles and snagged bathing suit. On top floor a bucket was catching water from ceiling. On a positive note, the golf shop and bar employees were very professional as well as staff at front lobby. May come to golf but will not stay in hotel rooms. Sad. read more

Stayed here for one night in a suite while visiting The House on the Rock. Pros: - Staff was friendly - Nice little gift shop; had some postcards they were out of at the House, and they sell bathing suits in case you want to use one of the pools but forgot your own - the property was lovely and well maintained - our rooms were clean - beautiful views of the golf course and surrounds from our rooms, with fresh country air! Quiet overall (except for a couple of drunk golfers bellowing about missed shots. Don't be that guy). Cons: - Probably biggest con is the parking location relative to your room may be really confusing. Since rooms are apparently all on one side of the hotel to maximize view, it may make most sense to park on the 5th floor even if your room is on the 2nd floor & take the elevator, depending how far down the length of the building it is. We finally figured it out the morning we were leaving. - Though clean, this place is decidedly dated. Furnishings need an update, and the tub had a grunginess that just comes from wear. (Also, most people don't want a tub with jets in their hotel room these days because the likelihood of them getting really clean is so iffy.) The sliding pocket doors within the suite were also heavy and hard to maneuver. - The mattresses in both suite rooms needed an upgrade: very hard, not what I'd think of at a "resort" We didn't partake of the spa, pools or golf course. This is our first time staying at this resort and, unfortunately, cannot recommend it especially when you can stay at a much nicer 3-star AmericInn for similar price point in Dodgeville. We rarely leave bad reviews as most places we have stayed have advertised their spaces within reason of expectations. Cell service for Verizon in the rooms is weak, the resort has average-mediocre guest wifi. The resort smells a little musty, the landscaping is in need of care, and the hallway carpet is worn, tired, and stained. We were disappointed with the condition of our first room. We could instantly tell it was quite outdated, the sofa cushions were slumped, mattress of the king bed was slumped, ironing board surface was falling apart, there was hair/pubic hair on the bathroom floor, and a tile missing. We asked for an updated room and the front desk agent nicely accommodated the request. However, the 2nd room was not much better; the door was hard to open because it didn't latch properly, the carpet had a large stain in the kitchenette area, ironing board was in similar state as the first room, and kitchenette faucet has white gunk on it. The only minor improvements were that the sofa cushions were less slumped than the first room and the mattress appeared to be in better condition and we did not find hair/pubic hair in the bathroom floor, but we did find some hairs on the bed (see pics). The sofa is squeaky and not comfortable for lounging and we were not sure if the bathroom towels were mismatched colors by design or if they were old towels mixed with newer towels. The condition of the patio area of both rooms are very tired and not inviting. We will not be repeat customers and wish we could cancel and receive a refund for our 2nd night. read more

This hotel is on a spectacular property, but the building is really in need of some updating. There was a large patio outside of my room, but it was in need of a good sweeping and cleaning. There were fans running in several hallways because there had been water leakage from the ceiling. The people at the front desk were friendly, but not very helpful. They didn't seem to know very much about the rooms. The landscaping around the hotel is neglected. There is space for a restaurant and bar, but it is vacant. Breakfast is served in a restaurant on the property, but the food is very very basic. On the other hand, the service was excellent. On the plus side the property is beautiful, it is close to the town of Spring Green and also close to Taliesin. read more

Beautiful location BUT the room was dirty, dirty stained bed sheets, tiny ants crawling everywhere. Killed a few other bugs BUT not sure what they were. Debris in the floors. There was a musky smell. Door leading outside was unlocked for anyone to walk in, thank goodness my wife checked it. Had to call for them to refill shower gel , shampoo and conditioner as all 3 were empty. Golf Course Review only: We did a group outing here. It wasn't my first time as I was here a few years ago and remember it as "not bad, but seemed overpriced". After this outing, my opinion hasn't changed too much. The group I was with pretty much agreed. The course is decent - it really is. Exceptional and deserving of their rates? Not for me. Would I play here again? I would, on my own accord, if I found a deal (not common). Maybe, if I have no choice due to an event. The course has some character - the scenery is really nice with it's woody location and water features. The double-green to finish off #18 and #9 is interesting. Some fairways can get a little tight, so bring your straight club to those holes. I was a little miffed that, with a decent-sized outing, they still had sprinklers running on holes that we were playing. It took about 3 holes to have those turned off. I didn't think the course needed watering at that time, either... Throughout the course, the bunkers are subpar. They're not as much "sand" as they are a sandy/dirt mixture with some gravel in there. During this outing, most were pretty wet and sloppy. Greens were in good shape - kudos on that as many courses have aerated early. Fairways were okay, and the rough was average. the TL;DR: Decent course. They stick with their rack rates. Other courses in the area are just as nice, but can be played for less. read more

This is a beautiful area/resort but it really needs some attention. The staff were all very friendly and helpful however there was no housekeeping services; I had to call the front desk to get trash emptied and fresh towels (we were there 4 days). Room could have been cleaner; tv/nightstands were dusty, there was dirt/hair (not ours) in the corner of the bathroom. There was a nice kitchenette but no utensils/dishes at all. Got a good price for a suite because it was Monday. Two beds very clean and comfortable, both rooms had good tvs and nice views of the golf course as well as a porch area. Bathroom was a little outdated but that's to be expected from an older building. read more

$200/night. The 3 pools are out of order for 2024. The workout room key was not working and husband was told it did not open till 7am. Supposed to be 24/7 but was not. Bathroom had hair on floor. NO cleaning service unless you ask for something they will give it at the front desk. The heat smelled wretched when I turned it on. Only use the A/C or open doors. The resort opened up on May 14, 2024 and was closed all winter, so mabey something is dead in there? The staff is limited and they really need help in the only bar/pub restaurant. Golf Course is lovely and well maintained. But we are not golfers. Taliesin Cafe is wonderful at the visitor center/ 11am-3pm/ M-Sun. We ate there everyday. read more

We came here to visit the House on the Rock, so we needed a place to stay. Made complete sense to stay at the resort. I am glad that we did! First, it was reasonably priced. I did not realize that the rooms are suites. That was a very welcome and pleasant surprise. Plenty of space in the suite. Comfortable furniture. Comfortable bedding. The decor is a bit dated, but that to me adds to the charm of the place. Our interaction with the staff was brief, but they were exceedingly (not annoyingly so) polite. We had a view of the golf course, as I think all of the rooms likely do. Also a view of the wooded hillside beyond. Just a beautiful setting. Nice balcony with an entrance off the living room, and the bedroom. The resort does need to do a better job of marking the lobby entrance. They also need to do a better job of clearly marking the parking areas. Depending on where your room is, you may have to park in an area up the hillside from the entrance to the lobby. Plus, if you are going to eat at one of the two restaurants, it is a walk to get to them. That was not that great of an issue though. If we find ourselves in the area again, we would definitely stay here again! read more

Oh God please don't update the decor or fix the Wi-Fi at this place. In some cases I would agree with other reviewers, but not this resort. I would agree that the staff is very ambivalent, but man is this place beautifully eerie. All the things I love about this resort will probably eventually be changed but as it stands, it's a hotel straight out of a psychological thriller, like The Shining. The winding, identical corridors, the uniform yet entirely unique antiquated furniture, the dated layout, the utter emptiness despite its massive size, even when it's booked.. the disconnect from the internet, the isolated location. This is not your average resort. If you were planning to use modern amenities and enjoy a traditional resort stay, go somewhere else. But if you want a striking atmosphere that only an isolated hotel up on a winding hill can offer, this is the place. Put down your phone, take a look around, and heed the creepy sign a resident painted and put up out on the main road: "There's No Tower In The Valley." read more

I am giving this place 2 stars for the wifi. If not for that it would have been a 1 star. I thought this being the House on the Rock resort it would have something relating to the House on the Rock (other than buying your tickers for you with the room cost) or resemble a resort at the very least. There was a pool and it was on a golf course, but that was it. The front desk service was horrible at check-in and we were the ONLY people staying in our section of the 'resort' which was kind of creepy. I honestly think this was an old folks home before it became a 'resort' and they bought everything in it. I seriously looks like it was decorated in the 80s/90s and never touched. It looked and smelled just like my grandparents retirement home, down to the bedding and decoration. Perhaps they can get away with it since there seems to be nothing else in the area. read more

We had a lovely time here during our three night stay. The room was spacious and had all the amenities we needed. The patio that overlooks the golf course and hills was great for relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous view. Before we came I read the reviews on here and thought that some people were just expecting a bit too much out of a rural countryside "Resort". I'm sure if I'd wanted to I could have found things to complain about like having to go down to the front desk to pick up toilet paper and more coffee (after asking it to be brought to our room and it didn't come) but we didn't mind since we were going to use the large indoor pool located by the front desk anyways. For all the people that complain about the outdated decor, after being there a few days one can tell they don't bring in enough business to have the money for an update. I'm just glad it's still open. Room's are spacious, clean, and comfortable and that's all that really matters to most people. Bed was super comfortable and we slept really well. Central air conditioning in the room was great as well. We will definitely be back. Great place for a relaxing uncrowded vacation spot. read more

This review is strictly for the Turn Pub & Grill. I understand this is rural Wisconsin, but customer service-or basic mannerism does go a long way. Please train your staff, particularly the older man working the kitchen this morning. I walked in to make a very simple order with a young waitress at the cash register, 2 sandwiches & two drinks. My friend who was there prior just finished his meal & wanted pay for me as well and that was where the confusion came in. The young waitress admitted she had little experience working the cash register & was confused on how to combine our bills. She prompted us to wait for the man in the kitchen since he took care of my friend's order early on. Thats fine, no big deal. When the older man finally went up to the front, I calmly and politely asked him a simple question, "do you have my order in from earlier?" Fair question given the confusion earlier & the waitress did tell me to let him take care of it. ​What happened next completely shocked me. He SCREAMED at me in front of other patrons, his voice could be heard across the entire restaurant "I'M WORKING ON IT, HAVE SOME PATIENCE." I asked a fair question.I was not rushing him, I did not give him an attitude, I addressed him by sir. It's not my fault that the previous girl could not combine our bills nor was she experienced with the register. I only wanted to know if he received the right order. I don't know if he was overworked or stressed (the restaurant was not busy), or if he hated his job, or if he was just having a bad morning; I understand customer service can be demanding, I have my own business in Texas dealing directly with customers on a daily basis, but under NO circumstances should you ever scream at the top of your lungs at customers. read more

Took care of everything we wanted and actually recommend the stroganoff which if not for her I would not have ordered. It was very good. Wish I had checked the Yelp reviews before the Google reviews (which are an undeserved 4.2). I stayed with my sister and her son/my nephew for two nights. The ugly: *Was it incompetence or "Bait and Switch" on our check-in and room selection? We'll never know! I reserved a room with a king-sized bed and a pull-out sofa bed from their website - we really needed this arrangement, but I was told upon check-in that a "mistake was made" and this room type was not available, and I would have to have two queens. We go into our assigned room and the mattresses are terrible - cheap, hard, cardboard-like, squeaky. Ugh! My sister and I are ticked off, and she goes back to see if there is anything that can be done. Turns out after a looooong back and forth discussion with front desk there are king-sized beds with pull-outs sofas available. We are given a new room, where the king mattress is significantly more comfortable! We were left with the impression that the staff doesn't know what is going on or is just too lazy to resolve issues unless pressed to do so. Given there was hardly anyone there on a Wednesday night, and almost our entire 3rd floor was empty the whole incident was bizarre. The staff blamed it on issues with the website reservation system. Mattress comfort should not vary that much within the same hotel! Other "uglies": *No sheets or blankets in the room with the pull out sofa bed meant another call to the front desk. After. All. That. Hassle. *Main lobby elevator walls are carpeted and visibly stained/dirty. Yuck, such an easy fix, and leaves an immediate impression that cleanliness standards need attention. *The staff set off the fire alarm while cleaning a grill so we had to evacuate - at least it wasn't at 2 a.m. *Wi-fi was slow *No room service, which they chalk up to Covid precautions...not too bad for a few nights, but it would be problem for a longer stay. The bad: *For this price point, the front desk service was seriously lacking as was the hotel restaurant wait staff service - 400 Springs. Cliff Notes version: Avoid for dinner, breakfast is better. For dinner it is overpriced, servers are at or below the level of a Denny's or Perkins servers for a fine dining price point menu. No apparent manager to crack the whip or be a role model on fine dining standards. Staff was wearing overly casual attire (baseball hats) and had inattentive lax demeanor. Bringing bussing trays into the room instead of clearing tables. We saw a server arranging tea packets on the floor. I would suggest the main manager/owner visit other restaurants at the price point being charged and do some competitive research, but I think this location and a "captive audience" allows them to coast. *Some strange dinner menu items are waiting for a Gordon Ramsey intervention - "Key Lime Caesar Salad"? Would pay money to see him eat there. Food freshness seemed hit and miss - my salad was good, but steamed veggies seemed like they may have been frozen. *Confusing room charges policy. Although the front desk issued a guest number to allow you to charge to the room, the 400 Springs LLC restaurant won't allow that, even though it's in the hotel. Ummm, what? *So bad it's good? The hotel furnishings do have a dated look as many other reviews have pointed out. It's Frank Lloyd Wright Taliesenesqe meets 1980s Cocoon retirement community and a dash of The Shining. It's now a blurry mix of throw-back kitsch that might be so out, it's in (mauve carpets!, racquet ball courts!) depending on your view. The good: *Proximity to HOTR and Taliesin, also a price break on ticket admissions to the HOTR, so if that is your primary visit reason, it *might* be worth it *The pools were clean and large, and the jacuzzi was great *Gorgeous grounds - the gardening and landscaping is beautiful and well-maintained - we don't golf, so I can't speak to the golf course *Breakfast food offerings were tasty and prices more reasonable + level of service from wait staff more in line with more casual meal *Most staff were friendly, but need much more training and/or commitment to guest satisfaction The verdict... I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend to a friend. Sorry HOTR Inn, you are in my "fool me once" file. The original design and "bones" of the hotel are quite grand. It was a nice stay and was a great price. Decor needs some serious updating, as this place is a bit out of date. When I arrived and made coffee, there was a used coffee packet in the machine from the previous occupant. A couple light bulbs were burnt out and the radio had a mind of its own and turned on when it felt the need to. I loved that there was a balcony to sit in and over look the beautiful scenery. Mosquitoes were savage during our visit, but I don't hold that against the hotel. Swimming pool was nice, and they have a gym with some nice equipment and some that needs replaced. I have high hopes for this place and hope to visit again, until then I'll stay at a B and B or the Don Q. Inn down the road. read more

Yes the view was spectacular and the balcony made for a lovely morning view while enjoying our coffee, but that was it. There is zero phone signal for AT&T and their wifi does not work/reach. The shower was outdated, grungy, and small and the lobby bar never opened. The bed was not that comfortable. We tried to get a table at the restaurant located inside for my birthday but we're turned away by an extremely rude hostess/waitress. We went downstairs to the more casual bar & grill and waited 25 minutes before a bartender who wasn't even supposed to be working asked us if we needed anything, which at that point we decided to leave the hotel to get dinner outside of the resort. The entire hotel was hot, like they didn't have the air on so we kept our room at 67 degrees. Not a friendly atmosphere at all, did not feel comfortable there, the staff (besides the man who checked us in) as well as other guests (who appeared to mainly be golfers) were not welcoming at all. For $200/night we won't be returning. read more

I'm sure this place was great in its hay day, but it is not only outdated, it's falling apart at the seams. -I thought the toilet bowl hadn't been cleaned in months, but after we requested housekeeping to clean it, it was still stained. So utterly disgusting. -The carpet at the entryway was soaking wet. There's definitely a water issue through the property. So much water damage visible on the ceilings everywhere. Buckets in hallways catching leaks. -There was a terrible storm in the middle of the night. We were woken by other guests outside our room in swim suites screaming and sliding in the grass like maniacs. Then the alarm in the hallway went off at 1:30 am. It was on for nearly an hour! Then again at 4 am and 6 am, so no sleep for me. We asked for a discount in the morning and they were only willing to give us $30 back. Not worth a list night of sleep. They said water got into the alarm panel and that's why they couldn't turn it off. Again, so many water issues! -Staff at the pub was rude and seemed annoyed by our mere presence and hassle free order. -The dining room does not serve lunch and the dinner was overpriced and underwhelming. -The staff was very nice and the golf course was as well. read more

We stayed here recently to tour House on the Rock. While the hotel is outdated, our stay was pleasant and we really enjoyed ourselves. The location is quiet, clean and serene. We did stay at the end of the season so the resort was nearly empty but we loved having it to ourselves. Breakfast in the restaurant was good, the grill was fine for a quick bite and the staff was friendly. Do bring your own pillows, my only complaint was that they were pretty hard. We can't wait to revisit House on the Rock and plan to stay here again. read more

Not good, not bad, just... As the majority of reviews from the past few years have noted, The House on the Rock is in DESPERATE need of a renovation. The décor can best be described as Frank Lloyd Wright channeling the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. I've paid half of their nightly rate at budget/economy hotels and received twice as much in regards to amenities, etc. If the Spring Green Chamber of Commerce was smart, they'd partner with, say, Omni Hotels & Resorts to create something like Pennsylvania's Bedford Springs Resort. Spring Green COULD be a year round destination. Unlike many of the previous posters, we had very reliable WiFi in our room, but spotty access in common areas like the dining room and gym. As several other posters noted, if you want 24/7 access, perhaps you should stay home. The grounds are pretty and the view of the golf course from our third floor room was nice. This is probably the saving grace of this property. While I didn't utilize the hot tub or either of the swimming pools, they looked quite inviting as I ran on the treadmill. Considering there were three of us utilizing the gym, they may want to consider updating some of the equipment. Nonetheless, the equipment was serviceable. Probably because of the volume of guests here for both the American Players Theatre and a car show, they didn't offer their regular breakfast menu. Instead, they had a buffet offering the usual suspects. The two young ladies (our server was Courtney) and young man working in the dining room were very pleasant and professional. We have stayed at the Usonian Inn and the Spring Green Motel. As much as I'd like to say that we'd stay at The House on the Rock Resort because of the gym, I'll stay at one of the other places, save some money, and get my exercise walking up the hill at American Players Theatre. read more

We recently stayed here over night. We purchased a package with room and tickets to the House on the Rocks attraction. The room was huge with a great view of the golf course. It is a bit dated, but everything was clean and the balcony was nice to have on a spring morning. We are their breakfast buffet, which was fine. The pastries were good and the coffee was tasty. I would stay here again and go to the Frank LLoyd Wright house the next time. read more

I wanted to love this place so bad because the view from the room was amazing. Looks like a great place to golf. Unfortunately, the room itself was very outdated, which I had read previously so that didn't affect me much. When we got to the room, we found that it hadn't been vacuumed well,if at all. There were dead ladybugs on the carpet, hair and dirt on the bathroom floors. When we pulled out the couch for our daughter, there were chicken bones and filth. Trying not to let these things ruin our stay, we went to the gorgeous pool area just to have our eyes burn from the massive amounts of chlorine. I now have a rash from, by the way. We convinced our daughter that if we go back to the room she could play in the jetted tub, just to find that it likely hadn't been cleaned in months. The entire tub was scummy and had mold around the jets.After I cleaned the tub myself, we found out that the jets are apparently just for show according to the man at the front desk who claimed to be a manager. When we called to address our issues and also the fridge not working , he didn't even offer to send someone to look at it and said we'd have to talk to his boss in the morning. Not sure why a manager can't resolve issues. He seemed like he didn't care about any of our issues at all. Completely ridiculous for that amount of money. Good Stuff 1. The lady at the counter was very sweet. 2. The Pool/Hot tub were awesome. 3. The Bed & Room were comfy. Nice place with Beautiful grounds and get views.The staff was pleasant and helpful too. There was wild life on the golf course to watch from your rooms balcony which was nice.My issues come with the room. The mattress was like sleeping on a slab of cement couldn't sleep on it at all and the pillows were so flat they were Non existent. I got no rest what so ever and then spent my day at the House on the Rock completely exhausted. The pocket doors are a complete joke so heavy and loud that you would wake your entire suite at night using the bathroom. The bathtub was in dire need of an update it had a grime look to it from years of use and the jets were gross. The coffee offered within the room was absolutely disgusting, it was like mud in a cup. If I were to stay here again I would most definitely be bring an air mattress, pillows and my own coffee‼ read more

The house on the Rock Resort is nice hotel but way over priced for the area and what they provide. (This may not be true if you are a golfer as I do not golf .) I booked the resort for its amenities , which ended up being nonexistent. The rooms are nice two full rooms if you book a room with two beds you get a bed in the main room and then one in the room you enter there is no real sitting area as both are in the bedrooms . They hold queen beds and are average size rooms. They have a mini fridge that's a bit larger than average size , microwave , and coffee pot The pool is lovely but very cold . When we went several other guest came down to swim but ended up in the hot tub . The restaurant is very pretty looking over a golf course . Cost are reasonable . The bar restaurant was nice. Here is the problem tho neither one has hours so you can't plan a meal around it . The night we checked in and planned to get dinner it had closed at 8 pm the next day it was open till ten . Don't plan on eating here there is no guarantee it will be open so the night we checked in we literally had no dinner w checked in around 9:20. Wifi and Internet do not exist in this hotel . everybody we spoke to said they could not check there phone or do work. The staff all agreed it was a problem . When I did complain. to Wendy the manager she was curt and stated " we do not promise Internet or wifi anywhere ". She then said we don't promise the restaurant to be open specific hours either. I did speak to her boss and he actually was wonderful so if you need a manager talk to the building and grounds manager . He was kind , understood my concerns , and compensated me for the situation. He also personally knew the man who built house on the rock and has many wonderful stories to share . He made the very end of our stay very nice . Overall , I would have given this three stars but I do not think it was worth the cost . The Red Barn and the Spring Valley on offer free breakfast ( resort does not ) and are about half the price . Both have warm pools hot tubs etc and are very close to the attractions . So unless you golf I would try there two establishments . read more

What can I add to the already spot on reviews except to confirm that in June of 2017: The internet still SUCKS big time if you're anywhere except their main lobby. The buffet is overpriced at $13/person and doesn't include any beverages other than water. The waitstaff is very young as well, probably minimum wage, had to catch their attention for everything including the check. Stop for supplies before you arrive, there is a fridge and microwave in the suites for your drinks and grub. You're on your own otherwise and the nearest shops are 5miles away. The indoor pools are nice, a little chilly, and the hot tub fits about 10 adults comfortably. Beds are super stiff and your body will be sore in the morning. Nice view of the golf course from the rooms. Did I mention the Internet SUCKS and frequently drops out? In 2017. Yes. At a not so cheap "resort". SUCKS BIG TIME. Unless someone forces you to stay here, stay somewhere else. read more

Decor is very tired, but the absolute worst aspect of this resort is the staff. The woman working at the front desk- Wendy- is the rudest I've encountered. She should not be interacting with customers. My 75 year old mother was confused by her reservation when she checked in and Wendy was grossly impatient with her and rudely snapped at her several times. If the owners of this business care at all about the customer experience, they will get rid of Wendy. read more

Most of the staff was very pleasant. The hotel has a haunted Erie feel but still nice. The rooms need updating and maybe a serious housekeeper. Dated and overpriced for the accommodations but was still such a pleasant find for the secluded area. Had a great stay and may go back again some day. Sure would not have a hard time getting a room. ABSOLUTELY NO DISCOUNTS available. I would have stayed another day or two but they just would not give me a decent room rate. Too bad for them. read more

The customer service is terrible. I mean awful. Youd be better off at a best western. I cannot believe how awful the front desk people are. The restaurant is way overpriced for not only mediocre food but an extremely slow waitstaff. This place is a shame its in a beautiful location. I will not return and would advise others not to waste your time or money you will only leave mad like us. read more

Old resort with no updates. Not very clean. They claim due to covid they don't clean during your stay. The room wasn't very clean when we checked in either. I realize they are low on staff, however, room prices are still pretty high. It appears all their profits are strictly used for golf course only. The golf course is the nicest thing about the whole resort. read more
