I've been to this establishment 3x's. I've grown accustom to the 2nd & 3rd time being disappointing from the 1st experience, this place is different. Each time I've placed the same order, plain bagel with onion & chive cream chess w/an ice coffee (side note I don't even eat cheese cream on a bagel). My 1st time here was when I tried onion & chive cream cheese. My usual order on a bagel is turkey bacon & egg. The ambiance of this place enticed me to change my order. I'm glad I did. Never imagined cream cheese on a bagel could be so damn good, and their coffee is something to savor. This place is amazing. Lastly I'll add this. I live some 13 miles away and stop here on my drive to the office which is another 2 1/2 miles from the cafe lounge. read more

Takeaway from this community centered cafe is always a hit! The guava & cheese tart was, according to my Cuban friend from Miami, the closest thing to a pastelito she's had since she's moved here. We split it and I thought it was sooo delicious!! We also shared a coffee cinnamon muffin which stayed moist and was delicious + not too sweet. A gem in Bushwick.... You can get a solid meal for under 20 bucks. The coffee is of quality and will wake you up. I'm a big fan of the pastries. For a small cafe, the selection is great and they always use fresh ingredients. Go try the blackened chicken and bacon avocado sandwich on ciabatta bread. 10/10. read more

I don't know how I've never left a review for this place! I go often, and the staff are always very kind and quick. Their lattes are delicious and the food is also great! They also have alcohol, and the sangria is amazing! The food is a bit expensive but man it's so good, especially the breakfast sandwiches and the tacos. They have inside and outside seating as well, but sometimes there's a lot of bees outside. They also have a basement area that they host events in on the weekends. read more

Such a cute place with great sandwiches but they can't get a to-go order right. Second time I've ordered from a delivery app and they screw my order up. You pay extra for iced drinks and will not receive it iced. Quite annoying as this place is a bit overpriced for when it comes to coffee. Actually a fan of house party! It's a super chill setting with really good coffee and food. It's decently priced, but worth the money for sure. I stop here on week days to grab coffee before seeing friends in the area, and occasionally get a sandwich and sit outside or downstairs if it's open. My only qualm is that the line to order, if you go during busy hours, will take you FOREVER. They run usually as a smaller staff so they take care of orders as they come in, so if you need a coffee quickly or timely then this is not the place to go to. They definitely put the time and care into the order which is much appreciated, but you will have to wait for your order around 10ish-15ish minutes. read more

I remember this location from when they first opened this store front after a major renovation alittle after 2008 Recession. It went thru several owner operators, the current operators so far as I can see have provided the best cafe experience at this location. The drink and food are good and there's a good selection. In door and outdoor seating, and table service. I've found it to be a good spot to grab a coffee and read job material, and my kids have found it to be a relaxing spot to do some of their College studying while sipping on coffee as well. I recommend a visit. read more

Came on Saturday night for a comedy show. The Popped Collar Comedy Show is in the basement of this Cafe. Buy beers on the main level, and come downstairs and get some laughs. Pretty cool. Nice hangout area in the front where you can chill in between comedy shows. Parking is tight in Bushwick, just drive around until you find something. read more

Came here for the wifi but the food and coffee ended up being delicious as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the wifi is strong in both areas, so it's a great place to do work. Acai bowl was very generous and nicely arranged, and I'd also recommend the sandwiches (I got some hot honey pork with cucumbers deal? Can't remember the name). Seems like they also got open mic and/or movie nights in the area downstairs. Will definitely be back if I'm in Bushwick again. read more

I totally dig this spot. The first night that I got to New York from D.C. I took the train to this Bushwick neighborhood to stay with my friend Sophia who is also a daily customer here. Lots of people were gathered outside in front chatting relaxing having a good time so it made be think this was a really happening place. Unfortunately they were already closing for the night but I went in the next day. After all, I was literally staying next door. The convenience! Brandon the friendly barista made me a tasty doppio and that got my day started. I came back later with Sophia in the afternoon and this cool dude Stheve was working, he very professionally made an awesome iced quad breve latte and it must have been the best one I've ever had in New York. He also made a tea for Sophia. I didn't try any but Sophia loves it which means this dude is doing something right. Excellent beverages, a really decorative interior, catchy music at the perfect volume, a nice seating area out in front, good employees, clean restrooms and a tidy establishment altogether, and add to that the frequent customers and the popularity, this place is the spot. I'd come up all the way to New York just to get coffee here again. And to hang out with my friend Sophia, of course. Basically Stheve is the man. read more

I keep trying to love this place but they constantly disappoint... not open some mornings, out of milk, out of ice, watery coffee, credit card machine down (again, but you stand in line and don't find out until you order), etc... the list goes on and on. The vibe! It's all about that vibe, yo! Seriously, a coffee shop that serves wine and beer? Hell yeah! The Platform is seriously the perfect addition and much needed accessory to the neighborhood. The decor is hipster central with lots of fun graffiti and art. The space is simply wonderful. Downstairs they have lots of couches if you need a quiet space to work or you can sit outdoors and enjoy the summer breeze. With Bushwick being all hipster and stuff, The Platform fits right in. They have comedy nights, trivia nights, and so much more. As I was getting my coffee, I was watching the people coming in and out. Everybody is so friendly and chilled. You walk in and you just feel like you're part of a family. A family of coffee drinkers and total hipsters. It's awesome. Today I got myself an Iced Coffee and I think it was probably one of the top 10 Iced coffees I have yet to drink. The brew was just perfect. They also serve pastries and other small bites. Pretty chill and calm I am glad this place finally has a name. This a simple (but not in a bad way) little bar/coffee shop where you can grab a drink or two without dealing with too much annoyance. I think that only beer and wine beverages are served here. The crowd is pretty diverse, in terms of age and background. Unlike most bars in the city, The Platform has a patio in the front of the bar where folks can have their beverages and cigarettes. The beer and wine selections are somewhat limited, but you will find something to satisfy your thirst and/or sobriety. However, I would not recommend the sangria. The bar has various themed nights, such as open mike nights and comedy shows, in the basement. So, I guess that it is also an art space!!! Jacob is a real great and nice bartender. read more

So I'm sure everyone that works here is well-meaning and they've all only been nothing but kind so I'd like to stress that this is not a gripe on that. The space is hip, aesthetically solid, but service left much to be desired. I'd like to single out the (not new, but newer) gentleman with the glasses and the dark hair for always being attentive and providing excellent service, even when the space is so chill you'll have customers at the bar sometimes interrupting you mid order to show you something on their phone. My boyfriend and I come here often but have recently began avoiding it after a few instances of just plain inattentiveness and lack of urgency. I so appreciate the staff in a service environment being so comfortable with their patrons that they'll chat and joke around, but when our sandwiches are the only items on your queue, I become severely disappointed and frustrated when being asked if I want them toasted a whole 8-9 minutes after having placed the order. Guy behind the register was quick to get on our drink orders while the guy on sandwich duty had yet to begin as our drinks were nearly finished. It took nearly 30 minutes to get two sandwiches made in a mostly empty shop at noon. They have you fill out little order forms for the sandwiches, and despite having a physical order on hand, he still managed to forget a couple of ingredients. A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I came in for a couple bagels and he received two bottom halves and I got two top halves on mine, and it was fairly quiet then too. Luckily we just swapped tops and bottoms, but what if we were two strangers with no hope of reconciling our bagels? Look, I appreciate the atmosphere and attitude that The Platform and it's staff aim to provide. But there's a way to balance that rapport with efficient, attentive service. Chill (possibly curly haired) dude with the glasses? Keep doing your thing. You make the best bagels and coffee and tea drinks, and understand the service element of the job the best, in our experiences. Stephen? You're alright too! Now, I'm not saying drop everything and rush to get my stuff done within minutes, but my boyfriend and I would be much more inclined to swing by more often if we weren't concerned we'd have to wait so long or that our order will potentially be made incorrectly. I come here on the regular. There is nothing special about the menu its pretty basic. They have everything you can expect from a place like this and is very well priced. The service is exceptional and is what always brings me back here. The space is very spacious with outdoor seating and downstairs seating which looks like a cozy living room. This is the type of place where you can come and study for long hours or just chill with a friend or the employees. They show everyone a lot of love and are very good hosts. They always have events going on here it so be sure to checkout their calendar for anything that may peak your interest. After booking an event with this venue a month in advance, I received a notice three days prior that they wanted to renege on our original agreement. I had been attempting to offer a community class for a nominal fee to help recoup costs of promotion and the work of organizing the event. Although the event had been booked for approximately a month and tickets sold, I received an email from their new event director that they would now like to ask for either a $200 rental fee or more than 50% of ticket sales. The event director was unapologetic and arrogant, and even suggested that I was lying about agreements made with former venues, or that they must have been of a lower caliber. When I pressed him about the three days notice after printing flyers and promoting the event for over than a month, he replied that I had two days to review his email. OK. These exploitative practices are not conducive with an artist/creator's budget. The cost of the class was only $10 and they expected $8 per ticket (what?). Take this as a word of warning before considering producing an event here. read more

One of the best coffee shops I've ever been to! The almond milk lattes are always perfect. The almond croissants have a delicate texture and are chewy on the inside. I come here often to do my work. Nice coffeeshop if the weather is good and you want to sit outside. If you want to be inside, however, I wouldn't really recommend. The tables on the first floor are rickety and tiny, and downstairs there are more options but many are lopsided and rickety as well. Music is not good (think: angsty 12 year discovering screamo) and played really loudly, so concentrating on work is really hard. Chai latte is just from concentrate and is super sweet, the artificial taste gave me a headache. This spot looks nice from the outside but is mostly a let down for me. read more
