Neighborhood Coffee shop that caters to local clientele. They have 'Breakfast All Day' and some really good options for Lunch and more, a pretty diverse menu with lots of Choice that are Central and South American. Ordered a Spanish Omelette with Hot Sausage on the side and Wheat Toast. REALLY GOOD and filling / hearty. This isn't the type of place You go to for Ambience but for the good food and cooking. Service was good and they were polite and kind. Definitely coming back here to try some more breakfast options...

How does the French toast have no taste it was frozen i know it

Food has no taste at all never waste yoyr money going here for anything breakfast lunch nothing no love in the food I think most is frozen not homemade . I wanted to give them no star .

I cannot rave enough about this place and the food options presented!!! The service was also a dope experience. Having my taste buds mesh between Hispanic food and American was everything and more!

Cuisine: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Decor: 9/10 Value: 10/10 Overall: 9 out of 10 I have always had an affinity for diners and coffee shops. Mary's is a very welcomed reminder of how that affinity came to be. For no less than three days during a 10-day stay in Brooklyn, I ordered from Mary's Coffee Shop, once for delivery, and twice in store. Here is the order I placed, in store, on 09/28/19: All Day Breakfast: Two eggs, scrambled with cheese, corned beef hash and grits (Comes with Toast and Coffee/Tea) Alt/Special Request: Rye toast, Coffee with cream and sugar   Quoted Total: ~$8.00 **Restaurant only accepts cash. I had ordered from them for pickup in the days prior, and my friend had gone to get it. For some reason there was a delay (after picking up the food) so when it reached me it was room temp. This isn't their fault and I purposely didn't write a review then. I did appreciate the large portion size so it was easy to decide on revisiting Mary's a few mornings later. Unfamiliar with Brooklyn and haaaaaating the struggle for parking I reluctantly ventured out to find Marys. To my surprise, even with a smidge of construction out front, I was able to pull right into a space across the street in front of the laundromat. I hustled inside and sat right down at a stool at the counter. A young lady asked for my order (see above) and I waited, taking in the quaint atmosphere. Every table was occupied with a couple eating breakfast from large oval platters. People came in and out shouting various greetings loudly showing how familiar they were the ladies staffing the shop. At some point a older gentleman came in and flirted, pretty persistently, and a woman working caught the signal and helped me out: "Your husband said he's pulling up. We are packing up his food." I smiled and said thank you. The gentleman must have taken the hint and eventually moved on. I thought it was sweet that she had cared enough to notice his lingering. I had been drinking my coffee at the counter while waiting but another full cup was included with to-go bag. I hadnt thought to look-for or ask about payment before then and found that they dont take cash. Their ATM was out of order or empty and I was advised to go across the street to the laundromat to get cash. When I returned I paid and grabbed my food, walked briskly to my car only to find that I had been boxed in. I can almost understand the need to parallel park in the city now. The car I inevitably had to wait for was another Marys Coffee Shop patron. I drank my coffee on the ride home and enjoyed the meal even more than I had the prior time. Large helping of grits, cheesy eggs, buttered rye toast, and corned beef hash (a country favorite) fried hard so its crispy and savory all at the same time. A good first meal can sometimes have an effect on the way you feel about the rest of the days events. Breakfast at Mary's really helped put some positivity on the hustle and bustle of the city. I will absolutely be eating here again and recommending it to anyone looking for breakfast in the area.

    Roasted pork sandwich. Unbelievably good!!!

I can't believe 6 dollars for this roasted pork sandwich. The ladies on the counter are friendly and welcoming; foods are amazing. Can't find any bad point in this lovely coffee shop.

The Caesar salad was a knockout as was the burger. With the passage of time I can't recall the particulars of the Fitzcarraldo but I liked it. It was priced like one might expect in an ironically named Brooklyn venue but they were generous with the good stuff. Even the bread was impressive. So this isn't my usual spot but I'm glad that more highbrow out-of-town friends chose it. The absence of a formal menu in favor of the server writing down the day's option may be a gimmick, but after a few bites I was swayed. Better to be king for a day than dollar pizza for a lifetime.

Or maybe I should say WHO?…read moreAre you gonna get the doughy guy at the door who takes 15 mins to amble over to the host stand who can't seem to figure out how to seat you (even with a reservation?) Or are you going to get the professorial woman who acts like she could rescue Apollo 13 while mixing a dry martini while reading Joan Didion? Are you gonna get an airy twink as a server who wants to go back to Bushwick and lets you know that at every second, or are you going to get a serious experience with a focused, professional server. Ya never know. This used to be part of the charm, but now it's a liability because friends (and other chefs in the neighborhood) never want to go to Diner because...ya never know what it'll be. Diner has never coasted on continuity. They change up the menu every day. They write it on the paper tablecloth, for Chrissakes. But I still love that! I still find most of the food to be delicious (if pricey), I still think their cocktails are well-made (even if their bar is weirdly slow) and I love their brunch and I love the vibe, and I'm glad it's still here. Their Caesar salad is overrated, as is the burger, but they're always mixing it up. You could get lucky. Ya never know...

But if you're looking for some excellent, straight forward, wonderfully crafted simplicity, this is in your wheelhouse. A quesadilla is a quesadilla, a hamburger a hamburger. Sounds boring? Not when your hamburger and quesadilla are amongst the best you've ever had at any diner, anywhere. Our waitress was very nice and allowed us to dine, unbothered. We ordered a fresh fruit platter for dessert. It included watermelon, mango, grapes, apples, strawberries, etc. very nice, well presented. The dining area certainly belies what happens in that kitchen behind the door. I'll be back to try some more simple, but excellent food.

This spot has a handful of tables and while we were there, quite a few to-go orders were picked up as well. Though we were the only diners, so I assume it's more of a breakfast/brunch spot. The menu is rather expansive with options from breakfast to lunch and dinner. After studying the menu, we opted for the Veggie Burger and the Meatball Parm Po'Boy. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes, which seemed a little long as we were the only diners, but we were not in a rush so it was fine. As the restaurant was unassuming, I honestly had pretty low expectations, but we both really enjoyed our meals. It was definitely large portions and really flavorful. My fiance said the Meatball Parm Po'Boy was delicious and I appreciated that the veggie burger seemed to be made in house as it was falling apart (in a good way) and you could distinguish some of the veggies. I ended up only eating about half of my burger and took the rest for lunch the next day and it held up well.

Apparently there is more than one location in Manhattan. The inside reminded me of a classic diner. Comfy and with a pretty cool vibe. We all slid into a booth and looked over the seasonal offerings along with their standard menu. I was lured by the chicken Kyiv based on the picture of having two rolled up chicken cutlets stuffed with dill and other yumminess, but was a bit disappointment when it arrived with a single small cutlet on my plate with two heaping mounds of potatoes mash and broccoli. I instantly had regret when I should have gotten the borscht soup with pierogies, but wanted to try something I wouldn't usually. I should've stuck to what was safe. My work mom got the stuffed cabbage and that was a clear homerun- really loved the mushroom gravy that it came with. My other colleague got the potato pancake and wasn't too thrilled with it, while my boss got the two Swedish meatballs that he described to be Ikea worthy. Although this was my first time here, I can't say that anyone really loved the food nor would come out of their way to come back. I really was hoping this would have wow-ed me in some way, but I guess I'll stick to what's familiar.
