Today I stopped in for breakfast, excited to get my boyfriend Longganisa for the first time. While the sausage itself was tasty, I can't say it was worth the price, especially considering the portion of it was pretty small, and the rice wasn't giving pinoy...:( I really wish this spot offered garlic rice. If you get a rice bowl, I'd recommend the egg add on for more protein volume. The egg was cooked just how I like it! Also, the vinegar sauce was a good touch. I also ordered myself a large iced matcha with almond milk and a bit of Ube and sweetener. However since that was made first but I didn't receive it until my rice bowl was ready, all the ice in it was melted by the time I got it, so it was very luckluster and watered down. For $32 I can't say the rice bowl and iced matcha was worth it for me, but I may stop in if I'm in the neighborhood in the future and am craving another ube iced latte. read more

Pretty good! My friends and I were hungry on Sunday and didn't feel like ordering in or travelling very far for lunch, so we decided to check out a local spot. Overall we enjoyed it. We got a both outside so we could sit with our dog. I ordered the chicken sandwich as I was fairly hungry and it definitely hit the spot. Juicy fried chicken, crispy breading, good green sauce, and lots of leafy greens. A bit messy to eat but I really enjoyed this sandwich more than I thought I would from a place that doesn't specialize in fried chicken sandwiches. We also got the falafel spring rolls as an appetizer and it was an interesting twist on two classic foods. Falafel, or at least good falafel, needs to be crispy on the outside, which a lot of places neglect. By putting it in spring rolls, they found a really creative way of ensuring a satisfying crunch when you bite in. So yeah, it's good. Do attend. read more

The customer service here is appalling. The owner that's usually at the register has the most nastiest attitude I have ever encountered.

Avoid this place like the plague. I wouldn't go here if it were the last place on earth. First of all, they're literally always closed, so if you want to go in and get a coffee or something ... chances are you can't, because they'll be closed on a random weekend even when they say they're open. Second of all, the food is absolutely disgusting. Do NOT give this place your money, especially when there are places in nearby Bushwick that are actually good. AVOID!!! read more

So me and a few of my co worker's came to this spot for our lunch break and I'm so glad we did. First of all the ambience and decor is definitely my vibe and so chill and laid back. They played a great selection of music pop/hip hop kind mixed with r&b and they have a nice tv area where you can watch while eating. I was unsure what to order but I decided to go with the falafel sandwich. Sizing is amazing you can eat half now and the other half later. The staff was decent there is a gentlemen not Filipino idk his race but he was rude and kinda stand offish they could have been a bit nicer lol which is why I didn't give them 5 stars. This review was for their special Kamayan dinner. If you weren't here, you surely surely missed out. I cannot tell you how much food was served - as far as the eye could see (yes, exaggeration, but freaking amazing). This was truly authentic Filipino kamayan (eating with your hands). Food: Bangus- milkfish Shrimp Pork spring roll Nilaga Baka Rice Fruit salad Cassava cake Adobo Lechon- roast pig Found this event on Eventbrite and had such a great time. Went the day after the election of 2024. My mistake. The man who owns this place was happily whistling like he'd successfully installed an oligarch with his vote. But that's besides the point: Food here is bad. Coffee's worse. Music is super loud. WiFi is selectively available when the owner feels like turning it on. Outdoor booths are nice! The Buren is a coffee shop by day and a bar by night. It has fancy cold brew and pastries, craft beer and cocktails, and a bench swing by the window. It is the epitome of gentrification - and yet for yuppie me, it beckoned gently with sun drenched windows and ample seating. I arrived for a morning coffee and pastry (recommend the cheddar scone and croissant sandwich). Seats are available for about 25 and the day set up is conducive for an hour of cafe laptop time, meeting a friend, and leisurely pondering the impact of introducing cold brew to the bodega economy. The coffee and pastries are solid and the menu is surprisingly wide for a dual op restaurant set up. Service is fast, the staff are on top of things, prices reflect the ambitions of the young and restless on the up and up. Single bathroom is clean and there's a high chair available. Can't comment on the more extensive food menu or bar scene, but based on traffic, there are enough millennials to keep it going. read more

I am not sure if this is a Filipino restaurant or not, but I do see some Filipino dishes being offered here. I haven't tried any of them, but I can vouch for their lox and bagel here. I think this place is a good place to get it and they offer La Colombe coffee and I like their cappuccinos here. Nice little neighborhood coffee (and actual) bar to grab a quick drink before heading out. At the moment, their COVID setup is ordering at the counter and brining it outside to you. If you're seated outside, they'll still serve food to you. Being they're right across the street from me, I've seen their outside seating area grow and become cozy. This place is very cute and the service is quick and friendly. I had the homemade falafel sandwich and it definitely hit the spot. The homemade hummus was fresh and so was the falafel. Very rude staff. There was only one man working there snd he was not friendly. Did not attend to me for well over 6 minutes when i was the only one standing by the register. I asked for a drink without ice because I am sensitive to cold drinks but he said he would have to charge me double because I would be getting double the drink without ice. I said just pour the normal amount you would give with one serving but leave out the ice... i do this a lot and i always expect less in my cup (compared to the orders with ice) so i'm used to it. But he said no. He said he could only do it the regular way so I just left instead. It's really disheartening because I just moved to the area and this place looks great and had lots of drinks that I was excited to come back and try out. But now after that negative experience I'd rather not spend any money there. read more

Came here on an early afternoon for the first time. There is a ton of outdoor seating. The establishment is really great about covid protocols. If you want to sit inside you have to get your temperature checked and fill out a form (or maybe just sign)? I opted to sit outside. I ordered the tuna sandwich which was great! Crispy toast and tuna was good with a surprise crunch of cucumber. The side of chips that comes with it is also really good! Not sure exactly what they were but they were crunchy and seasoned well! I first ordered lagunitas on tap then a Stella on tap. Both tasted odd to me. Will probably just order a beer in a can or bottle next time! Found this place while in desperate need for a stomach calming meal and it fit the bill nicely. Basically a coffee shop with light dining meals that uses a self service model which works fine and saves you on tips. Appreciated the healthy options (turkey on whole grain with pesto and avocado? Yes please) and the fact that their standard side is tortilla chips (maybe home made?) with hummus. It's about time I give some love to my favorite local cafe! I come here a few times a week to get work done in their spacious shop. Their draft lattes are great, and for a treat I love their chai lattes. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. I haven't had much off of the food menu, but their grilled eggplant is delicious. I also got a quinoa salad, which was a little bland, but hey, it's a salad. Their quesadillas look amazing too! I haven't stayed here after 6 but they seem to have great happy hour deals with an assortment of reasonably priced cocktails, plus they often host local art shows, open mic nights, and trivia. TLDR: a great spot for coffee and getting work done during the day, and a fun place later at night to have a casual drink with friends. read more

I got great recommendations from the friendly staff, it was very clean and stylish. I loved the sliding doors for outdoor eating also the table art was great. I tried dragonfruit lemonade, the egg breakfast which came with sausage, bacon, fries, fried eggs and multigrain toast. Also tried an Açaí bowl with some honey which was alfantastic. If I could give zero stars I would. The food and coffee is good but the owner is racist and sexist. I have been to this place a handful of times and finally figured out why I've felt so uncomfortable each time. Racial and gender profiling. I asked for a drink to be remade and he (the owner) lashed out at me saying I had to pay for the drink I didn't want and had to order another. When I confronted him about his history of rudeness, his voice changed and he got super defensive and argued with me profusely followed by being gaslit telling me to look around at his current customers. One of the customers sitting next to us said she too experienced weird vibes and gender profiling and she would not return bc of what she witnessed. I too will never return. And if you don't enjoy being treated this way I advise you stay away. read more

I've been here a few times for tea, food and to work on my writing and I have noticed a weird vibe of white people staring at me while I mind my business whenever I'm there. Usually some sort of white foreigners staring and making me uncomfortable. I wasn't sure what that was about so left it alone. I stopped coming because once was a hair in my burrito. A few months later my roommate who's also black said she had the same experience of white people staring at her here. Initially, I didn't think anything of it until I saw a white gentleman sitting across from me (also alone) and no one told him to leave his seat. Here is my update: I came back again and tried the Chai Latte. The barista told me they do their chai from powder...Chai powder cost around $5-7 so a Chai Latte made from that shouldn't cost the same amount. The taste was VERY sweet and thick. The third (and final) time I came in I was harassed for over two hours about ordering something. Now I was going to order a bagel until I saw someone asked for something different after receiving their bagel. Additionally the "owner" told me I was being rude by not ordering and proceeded to ask me "well are going to help me pay the bills at the end of the month?" The cafe had been bubbling with people in and out but only 5 people were sitting inside. I could understand if he needed the seating but nobody is staying....at all! Totally rude and I will never come back here. Better coffee and leadership might help with the bills, buddy. read more
