Was purchasing a condo in Philadelphia and my realtor scheduled the home inspection with HouseCheck for me. The condo is fairly modern, built in 2006. I was surprised when they quoted me $425 for a 1600 square foot condo that most of the square footage is a huge living room. There's not that much to inspect: there's no exterior and everything that goes with that: no roof or any other structural parts, no basement or attic, grading/drainage issues, no heater/AC or any other majors systems (building systems). I called an inquired about the price of $425 saying I thought it was high for an inspection that would likely take under an hour and only inspect interior appliances, electric, and a limited amount of plumbing. The woman answering the phone was downright nasty and unprofessional for what I thought was a reasonable ask. She asked if I wanted to cancel, I said No, let's go forward and see how long it takes and we can figure it out after. Next thing I know I'm sitting in the lobby. No inspector shows up. Realtor calls, they claimed that I called and canceled, which is absolutely not what happened. Schedule with the folks at your own risk. read more
