I got my oil changed here a month ago, they never put an oil fill cap on the motor which caused my engine to fail. I was told by another mechanic that if I had driven another mile the entire engine could have combusted. They also left rubber gloves in the hood of my car which melted. read more

Pete is my neighborhood mechanic. He parks customers' vehicles on my street due to his limited lot space. In Dec 2022 one of Pete's employees verbally assaulted me when I came outside to ask if he needed me to move one of our household's vehicles so he could get out of a tight space. Before I could get the words out, Pete's employee was unleashing a torrent of verbal abuse at me - called me just about every foul, misogynistic name you could think of. I should have called the police, but I did not for the sake of keeping the peace on the block. I made Pete aware of what happened and asked him to not park his customers' vehicles in front of my house anymore because I didn't feel safe. Not only was he unapologetic- he was hostile. I am not the only person on the street who has been subjected to this harassment and intimidation. A woman 2 doors down from Pete has been enduring even worse from the same employee, who has also keyed her car. Pete and his guys pick and choose who they are friendly with. Please keep in mind these are folks of low integrity. I am posting this review because it has gotten to the point that I no longer feel safe here. read more

I didn't realize my inspection had expired until I got a ticket. I was able to call Superior Auto Care the following morning and take my car in right away. They couldn't have been more accommodating. The road was closed so I had to cut through their parking lot to get one street over because there was no other way to go. I was instantly screamed at by one of the mechanics who berated me with profanities. I got out of my car because I wanted to explain the situation and informed them that this likely won't be isolated because the road is blocked off. I also wanted other drivers to avoid this negative experience and avoid being verbally assaulted. The mechanic who initially yelled at me became more aggravated and approached me in a fighting stance. "We can handle this later" , "I'll beat your a** p*ssy" and "You think you're entitled to cut through this lot" we're a yelled in my direction over what seemed to be a small misunderstanding that I wanted to resolve in a civil manner. The mechanic's boss which I'm assuming is the owner of the establishment observed the whole interaction and seem to condone the employee's inappropriate and unprofessional behavior. He also reiterated the point I shouldn't feel entitled to cut through the lot. Again there was no other way to go and there was a person in front of me who had just did the same thing. I can understand if you don't want be people to cut through but that was the wrong way to resolve this situation. I've never had my car serviced here but based on what I just endured I was avoid this place at all costs. Make sure not to cut through their parking lot unless you're in the mood to be verbally assaulted. read more

Great service! I had called earlier asking if they would be able to replace one of my brake lights, and was asked to swing by later that afternoon to check availability. As soon as I pulled up, someone came out and got to work right away. Within 10 min it was done and checked to make sure all lights were working properly. Price was beyond reasonable. When I moved to Philadelphia, I tried 3 mechanics before I found Superior and I will continue to use this shop and recommend it to anyone and everyone! Pete takes wonderful care of both my car and my boyfriend's car. He has been able to locate a difficult part for my car with ease and has always given me an extremely fair price on labor. I've always found him to be reasonable and trustworthy throughout the 2 major repairs that I have had done on my car. He is very knowledgeable about GM cars and the idiosyncrasies of the Saturn brand as well as Toyota. With his help, I hope to be able to get another 100,000 miles on my 96 Saturn. I stumbled upon his shop because I worked around the corner and now that I've left that job and moved to the Far Northeast, I still continue to take both cars to Superior not only for repairs but regular maintenance such as oil changes. All of the mechanics do great work at Superior and they have never once tried to up sell me with unnecessary services which is rare in the auto repair industry. This is an old school type of place, but in the very best of ways. Pete is a genuine and caring guy who isn't out to just make a buck. Drop your car off before work and later that day it's ready. A warning light came on in my car a few weeks ago while I was driving to Philadelphia. I called Superior Auto Care based on a recommendation from a friend-of-a-friend who lives there, and told them what was going on. They said I could bring the car right in and they thought they could fix it that same day. After I had my car towed there, they called to say that I needed a new alternator. They had already ordered the part based on our first conversation so they were able to quickly fix my car within a couple of hours. Everything about my experience was positive and I would definitely take my car there again. read more

I GENUINELY CANNOT BELIEVE THESE REVIEWS ARE FOR THIS PLACE. Pete is a kind heart but THE SINGLE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL MECHANIC I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF WORKING WITH. Very much like the only other negative review, I brought my car in for a check engine light. He put it on the machine and said I needed a camshaft position sensor and a new motor mount and to bring it back the next day and he'd take a look at it. The day went by, I heard nothing, another day went by, I heard nothing, so I went over and he says "you got a lotta problems with your car. Bring it back next week and I'll fix it in one day." Once again, I dropped it off on Monday evening expecting it back Tuesday evening. I hear nothing. I call him up and he says "oh, um now you have a bad strut and a bad axle and they need to be replaced too, it will be ready tomorrow. I uber home and come back the next day and my car hasn't moved. Long story short, he tells me I can pick up my car at the end of the day 3 days later, I'm come to get it, he is GONE, never called to say the car was ready, his partner has to call him and he says, on the phone, "it's all set! ". I drive off with the car and all of the lights come on. I call him and try to explain what's going on and he tells me that he won't stand for my attitude. I continue anyway and he says it's because "aftermarket parts don't work on my vehicle" so he ordered a different one it will be in tomorrow. If you remember he said it was all set and that I could take it. I drop it off the next day for him to fix it, to no avail. My car is still in the EXACT CONDITION I DROVE IT ONTO THE LOT IN. Also, while my car was sitting it got a ticket that he took off of my car and never told me about. ALSO, he charged me 350 for "all of his labor!" I will never ever ever even walk by this place again! EVER! read more

Is this guy for real? Pete is as rare as it gets in the mechanic world, and we know--my husband is a mechanic too! From New York, but stranded in Philadelphia while on vacation the day before New Year's eve with a smoking radiator on the side of the highway, we looked up the closest repair stations and found five. Although a mechanic, there was nothing my husband could do to repair or replace an entire radiator while on vacation. Superior had the most consistent and highest reviews...and it was only 8 blocks away. Surely my car would make it (!??!?), and it did. The garage was piled with cars and I was nervous that this place would not give us the time of day...Boy I was wrong. Pete was straight forward, forthright and said he would get our car done. Surely enough he did, even though it was a very big job...replacing the entire radiator and some other important related parts. My husband guessed what the price of this very big job would be and it turned out that he was a few bucks above the actual price. Pete is a gem and so are his guys. They each stayed two and a half hours late that evening to fix my car and get the other customers cars ahead of ours all taken care of. (My apologies to Pete's wife who called around 7:30pm wondering where he was as he was, obviously very late for family dinner!) Those of you who live in Philly are incredibly lucky. I would continue to take my car to be serviced by Pete even if I moved out of Queen Village. He is, without a doubt, the nicest and most honest mechanic I have ever met. He ordered a piece for my 2001 Jetta after I hit a huge pot hole driving it in the city. When the piece arrived, he told me it was way over-priced and sent it back. I'm really not one to complain, but this experience was pretty terrible. I really like using locally owned places, and this place has great Yelp reviews. Called here in the morning to see if I could get an oil change and tire rotation. The guy who answered said it wouldn't be a problem and to bring my car over. I brought it over around 9 and the guy at the desk told me it would be ready in the afternoon and that they would call me. At 4:45 I still haven't heard anything, so I give them a call. The guy who answered says my car is ready (great.. so why didn't anyone call me?). So I ask when the close, he says 5:00. So I have 15 minutes to come get my car? What would have happened if I didn't call? So I go to pick up my car, and he tells me $70. $70 for an oil change and tire rotation? My dealership doesn't even charge that much and they do it in an hour or so. Maybe I'm just not used to city prices? Who knows. Needless to say I won't be returning. read more
