I have purchased several plants as gifts and for myself over the years. The plants have done well. The selection is pretty good. There are some interesting succulents to pick from. The owner is very knowledgeable about what plants need. The trees look very interesting but wouldn't fit in my apartment. I bought a couple of plants from this place a couple of years ago. I remember the service was awesome and they only let me leave with stuff. I was able to keep alive, except for a string of pearls, but anybody that deals with Plants knows how those can go. (It's user error if they die... it's no reflection on the plant or the store... I might even try again with one someday.) Anyhow, the plants I purchased there a couple of years ago are all still thriving and doing so much better than most of the other plants I have. I'm assuming they had a great base to start with and also amazing soil quality in terms of drainage and nutrition. They got so healthy and big that two of them took a tumble from the ceiling where they were hanging because they got so heavy. I think I'm going to have to take a visit to the store to find out what kind of magic they work and see if they'll give me any hints or tips and if I happen to end up with yet another new plant I won't regret it but I'll blame them when my partner gives me side eye after swearing that I'm only getting new plants by swapping cuttings with other crazy people like me. Including some pictures of my happy babies. The last photo, of course, is of the two that took a flight last night and are waiting for me to give them some new soil and possibly repot them. read more

I love this plant store! There is a wide variety of plants to choose from. All the plants are extremely healthy and are probably the best looking plants I've seen in a plant store. The owner is extremely friendly and helped me pick out the best plants for my space. This will be my go to spot for plants moving forward and I hope they get more business because they deserve it! read more

It's nice to have a decent plant store in SOMA! Was impressed with how green and healthy most of the plants here are; I visited a couple other shops before this one and I was disappointed in how many had mostly plants that were yellow, wilting, or dying. I ended up buying a very cute plant and pot from this shop and so far so good! read more

This is a small shop that I would've loved to give a stellar review. Sadly the owners have unethical business practices and are scam artists. They put a plant on FB Marketplace posing as a private seller, and then tried to sell me a baby plant instead of the mature plant that was advertised. When I showed them the tiny plant wasn't the one I came to buy, they told me they couldn't take pictures of every plant, and it was the same type of plant. I told them it was dishonest to advertise one thing and sell another especially of much lower value. They kept interrupting me and telling me things like no one else has complained and that the description matched the plant - which was another lie because I can clearly see the difference between a plant measuring 21 inches and one measuring about 8 inches (tops). They had every chance to make it right and apologize. They could've sold me the plant as advertised, and likely I would've been interested in other plants. Unfortunately, this is not a business that cares about customer experience. But most importantly, I wanted to warn others to be wary of their business practices. Definitely compare prices and quality with other plant stores and if you're not buying in person, make sure you get accurate photos and descriptions, so you don't get scammed!! read more

It's a cute plant shop with really nice owners. I live close by and visit the shop each week to see what new plants they have. All of the plants I've bought from here are still living, and if anything they are ready to be repotted. They have a Persian Shield plant that I haven't seen at other shops in the city, which is a gorgeous purple. One of the best plant shops I've ever been to! such amazing variety of Philodendrons, Calathea & Maranta, Pothos and Ficus (Fiddle Leaf & Elastica)! There are a ton more on that list but these are the plants Iv'e purchased so far and I'm very happy with the quality of the plants, on top of the service and information provided by the store! Everyday on my way to my studio, I walk past Houseplants and Plant Essentials to say hi to Mammun. But I hadn't yet purchased anything because I already have so many plants!! But then, finally it was time to add some plants and I was excited to actually shop around the store and ask lots of questions. The shop seems to keep getting greener and greener and though I've already built a nice neighborly connection with Mammun, I was happy to finally become a customer. He helped me sort out what plants and pots I should purchase to be best suited for the window location in my studio.
