Very, Very Disappointing Experience:…read more -1/17/21 rented 3 bikes from B-cycle Houston. -APP did not work on any of our three phones otherwise, we would have joined as "members". I was able to get to the section on pricing but could go no further. I do remember monthly membership is $13.00 (unlimited trips) and that the yearly membership is $79 (unlimited trips). -Rented 3 bikes around 1 pm. (1/17/21), returned them the next day around 10 am. (1/18/21). -On 1/18/21 checked my acct. and there were 3 charges for $3.24. -Checked my acct several days later and noticed a $278.64 and $150.00 charge from Houston Bike Share (713-865-3622). -It was the weekend but I called and left a message that I was concerned about the charges. Business hours are Monday through Friday and could not reach anyone. -Monday the 25th I called again and spoke to a young lady (cannot remember her name, but she did say she had gotten my message). -I asked her why I was charged those amounts ($278.64), she responded that I had the bikes for a very long time and that was the charge and that the bikes are only for short time (30 minutes) usage. -I asked her about the $150 charge and she told me it was because one of the bikes was stolen. I explained that we returned all 3 bikes and that I was just visiting Houston for the weekend and lived in Florida. -After explaining that I didn't steal one of their bikes, the pricing is very confusing, the APP didn't work, the displays at the kiosks were so scratched up that it was difficult to even see what was required to type in, the first two kiosks did not have dock numbers on them and we had to go to 3 different kiosks to rent the bikes because the first 2 didn't work (other people trying to rent bikes at these kiosks were having difficulties as well), she told me that she would speak to her supervisor. -When she returned she said that she didn't understand why I was confused about the pricing: "it is displayed on the kiosks and bikes" (the signage on all three of the kiosks was unintelligible or not visible), "you could have used the APP" (I explained again, that the APP did not work on any of our phones), "you could have called" (bikes were rented on a Sunday, business hours are M-F), or "you could have checked the website" (by the time we made it to the third kiosk, we were just happy that we were able to find a kiosk that worked by this time). -After listening to her give me all the options I could have pursued had I been thinking properly, I again disputed the charges. She told me that the charges are what they are and that I had signed the "company waiver" (?) and I was responsible for those charges. -I responded, "so basically there is nothing that can be done and, is it not possible for her to consider all a misunderstanding?" Her response was, "that's correct, nothing can be done and no flexibility". -I asked her again about the "stolen bike" charge and she said that the bike was never returned (which is incorrect, all 3 bikes were returned to the kiosk adjacent to the Common Bond in Montrose) so I would be charged for that as well. I told her that we returned all three bikes to the same kiosk and made sure that they were all locked in. -She told me that 1 of the bikes was not showing up in the system as returned so I was responsible for that charge as well. So, all in charge was $428.64 for three bikes for about 21-hours. If the APP had been working, we would have joined as members and paid $39 total. I take responsibility for not understanding the charges but, we returned all three bikes. I am a teacher, my brother is a commercial real estate developer and my sister-in-law is a very successful business owner. In no reasonable scenario would we have ever stolen one of the bikes...doesn't make any sense at all. As a visitor to Houston, I would have hoped that B-cycle would have been more understanding. I feel like I have been taken advantage of and this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth for a visit to your city that was otherwise delightful.

Also they are just simply awkward and not fun to ride. My shoe kept on hitting the basket in the back. I am not a fan of these bikes whatsoever. Next time I'll just bring my trek or my specialized. Oddly enough I think these are made by track, I get it they have to be heavy duty and heavy construction so they can last a long time but for me they were not fun to drive at all. I am not a fan of this bike. Do yourself a favor and just buy a legit bike and bring it with you. Also I remember back in the day these are like five dollars for the entire day now it's like three dollars for 30 minutes. But Bcycle is such a well run operation. They work so hard and will do everything they can to assist your needs. I have called them to let them know I was overcharged before and they have adjusted my account. I have called them to request bikes for my guests because the station was out of bikes, they have sent a van with 3-4 more rentals. I have called and asked them to please reset the machine at the station because it wasn't functioning and they've done that as well. They are so professional and such a great team. Once I went to visit them I realized they have such a small crew handling the stations all over the city and doing all the operations, I was completely impressed! They are a non-profit organization and basically use the bike rental fees to keep up the bike maintenance etc. They are such a solid crew. I've also seen them working their booth at events and festivals. These guys deserve a raise for all do! There's electric bikes and art bikes now to bring some variety to the bike stations. It's one valuable way to positively impact our city towards cleaner air and becoming environmentally conscious. Houston is always behind but Bcycle is creating jobs and putting us one step in the right direction.

The cost of living and weather are great, but we much preferred our time living in Tampa. One reason is the beauty, or lack thereof when driving on most interstates. Billboards, car dealerships and businesses stacked on top of businesses are basically all that one sees. What does all of that have to do with Bike Barn Bayou Rental? Well, my friend was coming to visit Houston for the first time and I wanted to showcase the city in the best way that I could. Since I know he loves cycling, I figured that would be pretty ideal, and it ended up really working out! I called ahead since I'd never been here before and was told that there were plenty of bikes available to rent and that I could just show up. A couple of hours later, we arrived and the process was pretty easy. We filled out waivers and were given a quick explanation of where the trail would take us, and then we headed out. We had the bikes for 2 hours, but completed the entire main trail in about 30 minutes. I stopped back in the shop to ask where else they would recommend we ride, but I also requested a new bike. Every time I downshifted below the highest gear, the chain would consistently pop whenever I'd push slightly harder than normal. I was given an alternate bike and suggestions on where to ride next, which was great. But unfortunately, the new bike had the exact same problem. I sucked it up and just dealt with the chain popping, but it was definitely annoying. However, the overall experience was still a great one, as I was able to see a ton of Houston from an angle I'd never experienced before. The entire ride along the Buffalo Bayou was great, but also, we ended up riding all through downtown and came across some cool parks and other really nice spots. It's not too hard to find street parking over by St. Thomas, especially at nights or on the weekends, or you can use the garage and have Eatsie Boys or Black Labrador validate your parking for you. From here you can ride to the Menil or around St. Thomas (check out the medieval labyrinth over by the Chapel of St. Basil) or you can hoof it to Rice University and the bike station at Hermann Park. You can also get to the Museum District from here (there's a station by the MFAH that you can drop your bike off at) or get eats in Montrose (there's another station in the other direction right in front of Underbelly).

Houston B-Cycle is SO fun, easy and inexpensive…read more My wife and I enjoyed 24 hour access to bikes across the downtown area for only $5 (all tax and fees included) The catch is you only get a 60 minute session at a time, before having to return it to a location. But the plus side is you can literally return it to any of their locations for 1 second and then rent them again (as long as not all the bikes are rented at that location, and someone isn't waiting for a bike). If you go over the 60 minute session, It's 2 more bucks for an extra 30 minutes. Such a great addition to the area, and so much fun. Check them out next time you're in the area!

Nice long hike and bike trail that stretches for miles along the Brays Bayou. Easy to access the…read moreroad that winds through Meyerland to the Medical Center to Hermann Park and beyond. Still a lot of construction and there are multiple closures along the trail, but the completed paved sections are smooth, open and wide. Much safer to be able to go under bridges to avoid crossing major intersections. Need a break? Lots of park benches along the way. Thirsty? The new water bottle refill stations are strategically positioned. Don't have a bike? Look for the hourly rental stations available. The trail has detention capacity that has been expanded after Hurricane Harvey that will hopefully decrease the risk of flooding to homes and property along the bayou. Nice to see so many birds, like herons, cormorants, egrets and ducks, enjoying the water along the trail. Perfect for a long bike ride on a sunny weekend.

Note that they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays weekly. They don't have their own parking and there are limited spots on the street. I guess that's the point, right? Come via bike and bring your bike in so that you can get it taken care of and maybe some additional accessories for it. On my latest visit, I got the Basic tune-up package ($85) and an overhaul on the wheel hub ($35) because they noticed excessive noise on the spoke when I came in with my bike. While this does seem on the pricey side and they have other tune-up packages that are more expensive, I trust their workmanship and can walk out knowing that my bike is in the best shape and has had a comprehensive safety check. My service had about a 3-day turnaround time. I brought it in on a Thursday and they notified me on Sunday that it was complete. Do take into account that if you bring your bike in on a Sunday or Monday, this turnaround may be a little longer because of their closed days. When I received my bike, it felt good as new again and I was excited to be back on the road with it. I totally recommend EaDo Bike Co for your bike service needs. They do have bikes and accessories for sale as well. I was looking for a light to use for night riding, but the ones here were a little pricey (set for ~$150), so I opted to do some research and purchase on Amazon instead.

When we walked in, there was no one at the front, and we weren't greeted. We spent several minutes looking around without anyone acknowledging us. I pulled one bike out of the rack simply to sit on it and see if it was the right size. At that point, an employee immediately approached me and said, "I don't want anyone pulling bikes out and sitting on them." There were no signs indicating that customers should not do this, and no one had spoken to us beforehand. I'm a 53-year-old professional, and I expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. The way I was approached made me feel like I was a teenager causing problems in the store, when all I was trying to do was determine whether the bike fit me. First impressions matter. Instead of feeling welcomed as a potential customer, I felt reprimanded. A much better approach would have been to greet us when we came in, ask if we needed assistance, and politely explain your policy if customers aren't permitted to remove bikes from the rack themselves. UPDATE (08/01/2026): Don't waste your time visiting this place. Customer Service is horrible. We bought 2 e-bikes from Planetary Cycles this weekend. Go check them out! Your loss Eado Bike Co.! When you treat customers with respect, this is how you get rewarded.
