Houston Garden center is probably the only huge botanical garden in Houston, that has a lot of beautiful plants. The HGC always has deals, especially good for spring and winter gardens. Spring gardens since they always have a sale on the $.99 vegetable, Chinese vegetables and herbs, and regular herbs. They aren't Bonnie's plants that Home Depot, Walmart, or Lowe's sells, but they are specifically from HGC where they grow them. For the winter gardens, usually all the plants are 70% off. So good to stock up and plan ahead for next year's garden. The fruit trees are cheaper here, $20. I bought my mum a plum tree once and it has at first grown big and produced fruit, but my dad decided to kill it one day. Ah humbug!!! The plants here are in good shape compared to Walmart's selection. At least here they water and fertilize their babies here. However, the hibiscus all look weeping and withered, they may need a attention 24/7, however the ones here look a lot better than the ones at Home Depot. I don't like that they don't have a wide variety of vegetable and fruit plants, but the tomato and pepper selection is an abundance. The banana trees look kinda dead, even that they selling them here for $90+, thank goodness I bought mines for $10 elsewhere. This is location is a lot better than the one in Pasadena and Webster. I only come to this one because I know the plants will look alive, and the staff is so nice! The staff speak and understand English and they know the plants that they are selling. The ladies restroom was clean and smelled so fresh. Its located in the back of the center, in a brown building right next door to the office. The parking is plenty and if you buy some of plants, they give you a free black crate to hold your plants in while you are driving, so no mess in the car. Way better than Walmart and Home Depot. I don't come to HGC that often, but when I do, I come for the deals. However, Bonnie plants are my favorite to buy because I know they are reliable and catch easy with any soil.

I was thrown off by all the negative reviews before coming to this location, but I REALLY wanted to buy a snake plant for my room and figured I'd check it out anyway. My experience here wasn't above and beyond but like... it definitely wasn't as bad as some of the older reviews make it out to be. That being said, I knew exactly what plant I wanted, I found it very quickly with the other indoor plants, I put it in my basket, I bought it, and everything was straight forward. It seems like most of these older reviews are about customer service and employee knowledge. We asked one employee where the bamboo was and he pointed it out exactly. Most of the employees are taking care of plants, watering them, tending to them, and unloading trucks. I wouldn't expect everyone to know how to cure a sick plant or the scientific name of a plant you saw one time online that you want. I don't know, maybe my expectations are lower, but I'll visit this location again if I want to shop around for more plants!

I guess 50% off price means 75% off quality came looking for some trees and plants for the front yard and everything looks dead or dying

Rude staff. Pulled up a $10 coupon on our phones- sorry- it has to be printed. Seriously- this is the digital age. The lady told us we can leave, print it and come back. Lol how hard is it to place a coupon code or bar code on advertising?! After we purchased, we asked the cashier if we came back, if she was going to credit us $10. Oh, we have to void your items and start over. I think the simpler solution would be to just give us $10 off! That's just crazy talk though! I think we are going to print multiple copies, go back and pass them out to all the patrons. Go to Home Depot people- about the same prices, and most items are even cheaper. ;-)

Purchased a 8' tall Christmas tree from Houston Garden Centers near Baybrook Mall two weeks ago and this tree has to be thrown out! It has dropped so many needles we can not keep it in the house. We have purchased trees from this company for years and this time the tree is turning into a stick before our eyes. We have a bowl attachment and have watered/preserved it. I can literally hear the needles drop as I walk by. Their shipment of trees must have been cut in August! Trying to contact them is worthless, no one answers, voice mail is full. Stay away this year so you wont waste $100 on a dry tree that may go up in flames if you attach lights. Robin W Update. Had to drag the tree out today. Needed help with wrapping it in a tarp. I've never had to throw out a tree BEFORE Christmas!

I went to the location of off Bay Area after researching online they are having a 70% off sale. Once I got there, there were banners that stated 70% off with no other writing on the front and back of building. You would think everything was 70% off unless notated otherwise well after 4 different types of flowers, 2 plants, a palm and 4 shrubs NONE were 70% off when I asked the cashier he stated in a rude manner there are signs by 70% plants I asked him to show me and he said I would have to find them myself. I went ahead and paid for the plants, and attempted to call a manager today no one answered the phone to the location. A recorder gives you the corporate number and no one answered that either. So they get 1 Star for having plants because that part is accurate, but that 70% off sale is not. Beware!

Their Christmas tree, does not last. Dead in 3 weeks.

He is knowledgable of the types of trees that do well in the Gulf Coast area of Brazoria and Galveston Counties. He has two different tree farms so it depends on what type of tree you are looking for as to where you will meet him to choose your trees. When we chose our trees, we had the choices of Pine, Live Oak, Water Oak, Red Oak, Elm, and Red Maple. At the time, he did not have a good selection of Nutall Oaks. He can scoop your current trees and replace them or he can add trees if that is what you need. He is using a hydraulic tree spade which weighs several tons so you will have some unavoidable ruts in your yard when he is finished. The prices you pay are much better for what you are getting. The trees you pick out are not the typical tree that is in a large black bucket that can cost several hundred dollars for a stick with leaves. These trees are more mature than "bucket" trees and immediately add depth and value to your landscaping. Wagner Tree Farm also stands behind their trees. Several neighbors and friends have used Wagner Tree Farms and we have not been disappointed. Tip: The location on the map is not the tree farm. Call Aaron and schedule an appointment to go see the trees. If you found this review to be useful, funny, or cool, please let me know below. Thanks for reading.

I've utilized them a few times now. The staff has been extremely helpful. They know the whole store, not just the department. They aren't experts in everything DIY but I've found them to be more than willing to help or at least try to figure it out. The owners are on-sight most of the time and are extremely friendly. Like any Ace Hardware, some items are slightly more expensive than Lowe's and Home Depot. However, they also have things that those stores don't have, like loose nuts and bolts for instance. Honestly, is there anything more annoying than having to buy pre-packaged nuts and bolts? The project I was doing today required 4 bolts, nuts, and fender washers. I went to Ace and bought 4 bolts, nuts, and washers. I wasn't forced to buy packs that are pre-packaged with numbers that NEVER align. There's always 6 bolts, 4 nuts, and 7 washers. Its like buying hot dogs and buns...the numbers never match. Anyway, I digress. I love being able to buy exactly what I need in the exact count I want. Plus, I got a great deal on some sunflower seeds for my bird feeders. I got a 25lb bag on sale for $9.99. They are also an authorized dealer for Big Green Egg and Traeger Grills. This is important because the only other dealer for BGE in League City recently closed. As far as power tools go, they carry Craftsman, Milwaukee, Dewalt, and Stihl. They carry Benjamin Moore paint and other brands. They have almost everything you need at a hardware store minus a bunch of lumber, fencing, and building/roofing materials. If you need that, don't come here. Bottom line - They have almost everything you need for the DIY projects that you have going around the house. Conveniently located and extremely helpful. I am very glad they are now in the neighborhood.
