Every class has a clear purpose, whether it's focused on refining technique or getting in solid, safe randori. The facility is outstanding. The mats are real tatami, and the entire floor is built on a gymnastics-style sprung subfloor, which absorbs impact and makes throws much safer and more comfortable. (Did I mention the floor is amazing?) Classes are offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus Saturday early afternoons, and the training environment is always positive and welcoming. This school is a staple in the Houston Judo community, and consistently attracts both newcomers and seasoned judoka who want high-quality training. If you're looking for serious instruction in a fantastic facility, you won't regret checking this place out.

I bumped into the owner (TKD & BJJ Black Belt instructor) Jimmy Holmes before they opened this new location as I was peering through the windows after getting a coffee next door. I ended up getting a full tour of the facility & the plans for their use of the back building to be a competition/tournament sized mat space with a weight training setup as well. It is a beautiful facility, they're still doing upgrades here & there, but my favorite little fact about it is that the dumbbell rack in the back goes all the way up to 150lbs!! They offer a great selection of youth classes with a mix of high level men & women instructors. The team, THE TEAM!! They have competition medal winners across the board in martial arts & a great team atmosphere! Boys, girls, men, women, tons of competitors & winners, but minimal ego. Personally, I was only living here while I completed an internship for my degree program, but they've been very welcoming & accommodating during my short stay with them. I look forward to visiting in the future & getting some rolls in on a Sunday Open Mat or Warrior Wednesday where we just roll 10 rounds in lieu of a structured BJJ class. All love, I'll be back!

The instructor Prof Art Alvarado goes on to question why he wants to join and then decides that my boyfriend wouldn't be fit to join the gym. Prof Alvarado never answered my Bf question about the estimates, instead makes it a personal matter on how he is old school and assumes my BF wouldn't like the gym. The conversation was truly unprofessional. For someone asking for basic information Prof Alvarado surely did a good job at rejecting a prospect client. The professionalism is at a low level. If I could give this zero stars, I would.

There are several versions of TKD, but out of the sport version (for the USA Olympics), Rock Solid TKD is by far the best. Sabunim Joseph can fight, he knows his patterns, he is patient with kids, and he has a relaxed attitude in the middle of a large crowd. You immediately feel calm walking into this place for the first time. You will learn to move fast and hit hard in this location, but more importantly, you will have a fun time while learning about mutual respect and discipline. His instructor's instructor directed the Special Forces during the Vietnam War; he has been trained well and has a lot to show anyone who walks in.

I learned some martial arts but it was very expensive and not worth the injuries that I received from training with angry team members there. Recently found out my hospital imaging showed these injuries are severe and permanent. The owners immediately had yelp remove the picture of my MRIs and x-rays.
